Chris Gotterup at the Korn Ferry Playoffs

After 8 holes Chris was tied for 1st at -4. Bogeys on 11, 12, and 13 dropped him to -1 and T19. He turned it around with Birdies on 14, 15, and 16 to stand -4 (T14) as he approached the 18th. With most still on the course, he's not going to be able to have a bogey string like that again if he wants a a good finish this week.

Yeah he finished 4 under meanwhile Ryan McCormick another Jersey guy who just missed his PGA card when he finished 28th on the Korn Ferry Tour is in 2nd place at 6 under par; Ryan is a St. Johns graduate

-4 puts Chris T27 going into tomorrow. He Tees off on #10 at 3:10. There are 11 players -5, 20 -4, and 23 -3. He only hit 42% of the fairways today, averaging 333 yds per drive. The distance is great, the % not so much.

Chris started off by paring the 3 holes; 11, 12, and 13 that he bogied yesterday then played the next 13 holes -6 which put him T8. Unfortunately he Bogeyed his last hole of the day to shoot a 5 Under 66. He is currently tied for 17th with about 2 dozen players still on the course. He may be way behind the leader but only 1 stroke out of 8th and 2 out of 6th. Getting as many points as possible by finishing the next 2 days as high as possible is the name of the game in the playoffs,

Chris had another good round, a 6 Under 65, including birdies on 3 of his 4 final holes. With a few players still on the course, his -15 has him currently tied for 6th going into tomorrow's final round.

Chris fired a pretty pedestrian 1 under 70....Bogey, Birdie, 14 Pars in a row, Birdie, Par. He finished T17. In the race for enough points to get 1 of 25 PGA Tour cards he stands T13 after those who already earned a card before the playoffs are subtracted. Better for sure to be on the inside looking out than outside looking in.

Chris tees off at 7:53 tomorrow at Ohio St's Scarlet Course in the 2nd leg of 3 in the Korn Ferry Playoffs. 2 players qualified for their PGA Tour Card last weekend so 23 spots in the big time are still available. He currently sits T13.

If I math'd correctly, Chris has about 84 points. According to the internets, the past few years number 25 has been between 150 and 200 points (really 157-186). Officially, 220 points is considered safe enough to announce as earning their card. A solo 11th finish would be 140 point for a total of 224, so the goal, besides winning it all, should be that in order to be safe going into the last event. Of course, even duplicating his performance last week would get him to around 160 points which would still be in that range from past years, but would much rather not have to worry about it.

After shooting a first round 72 (+1) Chris finds himself T87 and in danger of missing the cut which is currently projected to be -1.

Even more important, in the race to secure 1 of the 25 2022-23 PGA Tour Cards, he's dropped from T13 to T31.

After shooting a even par 71 Chris missed the cut by 2 strokes. He dropped from T13 to T27 in the playoffs. He will need a decent finish in the final next weekend if he hopes to be 1 of 25 to get their PGA Tour card.

With a lot on the line, Chris tees off Thu at 1:27 EDT in the final leg of the Korn Ferry Finals. His grouping has some connections. Nick Hardy was a star at another B1G school, Illinois and Norman "the Panda" Xiong, like Chris this past year, was the Haskins and Nicklaus award recipient as the best college golfer while playing for Oregon in 2018.

Knight where does Chris have to finish to get his PGA tour card?

Can't say for sure. There's a site that has his chances at 30% which isn't as bad as it sounds when you consider there were about 130 in the running.

The thing is there are 25 players already with a Tour Card in the field. They don't get points this round so in theory if 10 of them finish 1st thru 10th, the highest finisher not in the 25 would get the 1st place points. That's why Chris finished T17 two weeks ago but for points he finished T13.

His first objective after last week is make the 36 hole cut.

Chris rec'd an invite to this weeks Tour event. After a not so good 73 (+1) he fired a 67 today (-5) with 3 Birdies and an Eagle. With about half the field still on the course he currently stand T27, well within the projected cut line (-2)

After a 71 (-1) Chris starts the final round T39 at -5. Yesterday he birdied #1, #17, and #18 with 2 bogeys in between. He's only 2 strokes out of Top 25. He just teed off Troy Merritt and Alex Noren.
