Through three games, Corey is averaging 11.3 points, 6.7 boards and 3.6 assists. I caught up with Corey who is never a dull interview.

I thought this was an interesting quote when he was talking about the change in culture.

“I have seen a change with our culture and how our system is being run. [Coach Pikiell] came in last year and really tried to bring stability by being someone you can count on. Even when I was not here and going through the process with the NBA, he called me every day and see how I was doing. He gave me words of encouragement and told me to keep working hard. Having guys around that really care is the best feeling."

Here is my latest story on Corey.

I’m one of the biggest fans of Corey’s game on here. This year is put up or shut up. He’s got 2 years in the Big 10 under his belt..he wants to go pro. This is the year where he has to separate himself and show that he can lead a team and be an All Big 10 player.

I liked his effort last game after 2 subpar games from him. He flirted with a triple double. I’d love to see more games like that from him where he’s grabbing rebounds. He’s athletic enough to hit the boards like a Russell Westbrook.

I expect big things from him this season

Corey Sanders will be the key to Rutgers exceeding expectations and possibly getting into the post season. He has gotten off to slow start, especially shot wise but that was a terrific game the other night with almost getting the triple double. His defense has been outstanding with less drifting allowing three point shooters some room. His passing and assist total in the second half the other night should be the norm not the exception. He has forced too much in these first few games but if Issa, Mike and Geo are ready to shoot , I anticipate he will do less forcing and more elite passing .
Having Geo playing the point will also help Corey off the ball for back cuts, alley oops. But one thing he has to fix is his shot, which is very flat now and his foul shooting. I was at the open practice and he shot 10-10 from the line , 3 separate times, where Pike was yelling out automatic. I was surprised he missed some foul shots. He should expect to get to 80% or higher. He shot in previous years on his pull up off the dribble W's fine, but lately he is going to a set shot bringing the ball across his body and it looks awkward and needs to get fixed.
This is his time to elevate his team and his own play like a junior should. We will get to the post season if Corey elevates his game and will not if he does not.

He didn't say as good as. He said he's athletic enough, which is pretty close to true to Westbrook. His athleticism testing numbers are off the charts.

right. In no way was I saying Corey Sanders has the same game or skill set as one of the best guards on the planet but I do think he has the ability at the collegiate level to use his freakish athleticism to crash the boards and start the break like we often see a Russell Westbrook do.

I'm sure he's watching the best guards at the next level and trying to implement parts of their games in his own. I'd like to see him go after more defensive boards is all I'm saying

I am happy Cory is with Rutgers
he does many things well
but I dont see anything that screams NBA
So far I see him making a great living,,,,,but overseas
