Looks like an effort is definitely being made to improve his left hand dribble. My guess he is working with his own dedicated guard coach...just a guess.

A lot of that is stuff I've seen our guards do during team workouts this summer. Stop and start drill in particular

Obviously Corey has a certain flair though!

Probably, but, they have a 2 hour per week limitation with the coaches, correct? If Corey is off campus working with his own guy there is no such limitation.

IMO Corey would have a chance at being if not the best guard one of the best guards in the big ten. If he improves his jumper and left hand he would be an all big ten guard. And those aren't big ifs. Many guards improve their jump shot as upperclassman.

If Corey gets his FG% above 40% and fts in the 75%+ range i will be very happy. I also really like the obvious focus on the left. I think he is lethal this year.

He has been training with elite training facilities and people who are prepping pros both skill wise and though conditioning. He will be a force this year. Just wait.

Just taking more jump shots this year should improve his overall efficiency. Corey is a guy so talented that just implementing balance in his offensive game would correlate to positive results. Even though he can beat guys when they know what's coming, it still helps the defender when he can play off and wait for the right side drive, even if Corey can blow by on his explosive leap to the basket.

He's not a bad shooter. Taking more pull up jumpers and keeping the defender honest will open up his game. Being balanced is the most underrated aspect of success in sports.

He doesn't have to finish with his left hand just go left. He almost exclusively goes right when he gets the ball at the top of the key and defenses still have trouble stopping him. Could you imagine if he could take guys to the left. He can go left and jump stop and knock down a jumper. Doesn't matter just needs a move or two going left to keep teams honest.

I agree with greenricefig and would to see better decisions in the lane as well. Point is thouih if he makes it at RU four years he has a chance to be great. He is already good.

Plus , going left is to keep the defense honest. It will not be his "go to" move. We will still see a lot of right hand drives.

Kyrie Irving is the best guard I have ever seen that can consistently go left and finish with the left hand.

Being able to go left and finish left would be great. I still think he helps us most going right, getting in to the paint, and distributing to others. Others HAVE to knock down shots and finish on the block.

He is VERY quick with the ball in his hands and it is a huge asset. He alone has the ability to make an opponent switch to zone. Williams, Thiam and others HAVE to knock down a high percentage of open looks.

Potential will always be there. I agree with what a lot of you folks are saying. Get the free throw up, show a more reliable shot.

Let's go,Sanders!

Considering that he shot 42 percent from the floor and 71.3 percent from the line as a freshman, what you are asking for is very reasonable.

Thats what im thinking too Russ. I think him adjusting the stamina of actually playing defense and doing more than score took a toll on him.

Think this will be a nice season. Would be nice to see him as a four year starter/pro. But not gonna happen. Excited for this season.

Nailed it. Can mike and Issa make teams pay for collapsing on Corey when he drives

If they can and baker does what I think we will do, this will be a completely different team in 17-18....for the much better

No payment is made if Mike and Issa don't get chances. To me that is/was the biggest flaw in Sanders game. (not the inability to go left or his lack of a shot). The shot is a close 2nd.

Terrific to see him work on the left hand dribble.

He does not have to FINISH with his left hand except when he has a lay up - since he is a right handed shooter - just be strong with the dribble with his left hand.

I did notice, however, that at least half the time he traveled after doing his move and pulling up for the jump shot. That is what practice is for. He needs to get the left hand strong, and then after he masters that, be squared and ready to shot without taking an extra step or two to GET squared.
