Could Y'all Put up with Bo Pelini as Coach?

Guy has an outstanding 70-31 record . . . but . . . he's a nut. I know he my own Southern Baptist fanbase couldn't handle: "Our crowd. What a bunch of (effing) fair-weather ****ing—they can all kiss my ass out the (effing) door. 'Cause the day is (effing) coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm (effing) gone. I'm so (effing) pissed off."

Could a Yankee fanbase put up with that and his screaming antics? For 9/10 wins per season?

yes... I mean have you read this board? That is considered polite around here.

But seriously, no one likes fair-weather fans.

If he can get Rutgers to win 9-10 games every year, I will personally give him my cell phone number so he can call me up and cuss me out after every game.

That's how I feel, but I'm in a small minority of SCar fans.

His name is always brought up, and I don't know how well he'd mix with our media, which sadly, dictates far more than they should about who Rutgers can put up with. I'd love to see what he could do here, but doubt it will ever happen. If he had those issues with a Nebraska fan base (i.e. pretty damn loyal), then I can't imagine what he'd think about ours.

Our previous coach, Greg Schiano, was a dedicated Christian man, but he had quite a colorful language skill himself at practice when one of the players fouled up.

However, my own choice for HC here would be Ruhle of Temple. He has brought that program to a top 25 team and with a tight recruiting area. He has competition with Rutgers, Maryland and Penn St, all in the neighborhood. AND, I don't care WHAT type of system he runs or where he recruits, just as long as they are decent types who are willing to be students as well. RU has a great academic reputation and the athletes comply. Also, up until this past year, RU had an excellent rep for kids who stayed out of trouble.

Yes, we could put up with his antics, but I don't want him here as a coach. I want someone like Herman, and his out-of-the-box thinking. It's time for THAT kind of change here at Rutgers.

Our fanbase wants Herman, Fuente or Smart - in about that order of preference.

I'd love him here. He could also use that language towards our AD, President and Governor.

The "Yankee" message board is that way. But you'll have to catch them in April I'm afraid. Kind of quiet there right now. Oh......................never mind.(In my Gilda Radner voice)

Any of the two individuals with coaching experience from Youngstown State will do...lol...but seriously...10000+ on Pelini...we want to take then next step??? Let's see what 4 9/10 win seasons will do to this part of the college world!!!!

....AND... He is getting paid $4,212.99/day from Nebraska untill Feb 2019....sooooooo, that might help us with the rediculous temporary budget we are on...

He wouldn't survive the media up here - they'd crucify him and the school. Busboy Barchi would throw him under the bus at his earliest convenience.

THAT'S the point. It's NOT whether Pellini could deal with the Star Ledger and sundry fire storms, it's whether the Rutgers administration could.

Yes, let's all just make decisions based on the douchebag media personnel from our area. Smart move

Exactly... And when we win...watch who all of a sudden loves us...we saw a glimpse of that in 2006... This area loves a winner... They just never had enough of it with Rutgers for it to stick...

If we learned anything from Trump is don't give a crap what the media says (or at least pretend to). Bully the bully.

If I were Bo I'd run away as fast as possible from any RU overture. The media would crucify him before he had a chance to put on an RU cap. It'd be never ending repetitive stories about his statements and they'd be tripping over themselves to be the one to make him lose it.

To the OP - You have to realize the wins and losses are only a small part of what the media cares about around here. Controversy and clicks on the web site are just as, if not more important.

Meh. Our little SC media was attacking Spurrier's ethics when he was 33-6.

First of all, I'd take Bo Pellini in a second for the 9/10 win seasons.
Secondly, I'd take Bo Pellini in a nanosecond as a giant F.U. to the previously bumbling, cowardly and overly politically correct Rutgers administration.
Finally, I'd take Bo Pellinin in a New York nanosecond in order to watch the epic battles with NY/NJ media ensue.

The only people who seem to care what the local media has to say about RU is the RU administration (BOG/weasel President). It's at the point where the SL tries to see if they can pressure RU to fire whomever they say to fire.

By the end of Bo's tenure in Lincoln, I was of the mind that he wasn't a great coach, but it was clear NU made a mistake the day they hired Mike Riley, who is one of the worst I've ever seen. And he makes Pelini look better by comparison.

But just for sheer spectacle, I'd love to see him at Rutgers. I'm not sure how it would turn out, but I think it'd be interesting as hell to watch.

Yeah, I was going to say ... Rex Ryan, Chris Christie, etc. It's not like we're not used to having strong-willed people running things around this area. It'd be nice to have somebody tell the media and some of the fans to shove it, but overall I think it would be a giant headache and blow up in our faces.

People around here would put up with a lot if it meant wins, though. As long as things aren't being done illegally and nobody is getting hurt, that is. There are some exceptions.

Yes. 100 times yes.

His resume is multiples better than anyone else that is a realistic choice. The credibility of Rutgers football would turn on a dime.

I bet he would love another shot to be back in the Big Ten.
