"Koll thinks the wrestling roster cap will be “ridiculously low.”

This could be problematic for smaller, enrollment-driven schools that bank on larger athletic rosters to help drive revenue.

“My roster next year is 46 kids and I have a room that can hold 30,” said Rider coach John Hangey, who sees areas where his program could benefit from potential changes but also sees where his school, with an undergraduate enrollment of 3,168, could face challenges. “I have 26 lockers. Yet at the same time, I’m told to keep higher rosters because it helps the school and it helps the athletic department as it trickles down."

My initial gut reaction says no. I see it as being more beneficial to the traditional powerhouses who can now give free rides to three full teams of wrestlers. If teams were stacked and some great wrestlers were not getting any scholarship money, I would think they'd go find greaner pastures if tuition was an issue. Now they can remain on the best teams and train with the best partners. Those with the deepest pockets will stockpile. I can see how teams below the elite be able to offer second and third backups a scholly, but they need the funding to do so.

This will result in a reduction in Olympic sports at most universities. There will be very few schools that will be able to afford the increased scholarship costs and overhead for increased rosters and coaching salaries.

No, B1G programs will be safe but others not so much. I see another Title IX coming, there's only 77 programs, I can see that dipping into the low 60's as everyone tries to keep up with the Jonses.
