Is anything expected out of Danny Lobach other than being a solid teammate in the form of Downes, Brooks, and Nathan?

I think he will see a little more playing time than the other three. He has a pretty nice outside shot.

I know Coach compliments all of his players well.... he touted Danny at a practice I attended. Granted there are not many minutes to go around and he's coming off an injury. Just figured I'd put the thought out there.

Good point. But a lot of us are pretty "fringe" if you know what I mean.

It's basketball, non scholarship players rarely become rotation players.

It is rare but Creighton Drury became a starter for us at point guard. A little point guard from Seton Hall Prep got quite a few minutes as well as did several others.

The Shayle Keating/Jake Dadika/Robin James types played out of necessity. The hope is we are beyond that point with our depth.

Really?!?! Well then that tells you the level of even our scholarship players at that point (shout out to Darko). Played poker w Robin about 6 years ago in a private game, really nice guy, was shocked I knew who he was.

If I remember correctly, he came on strong at the end of his junior year, I think he had a great game against Temple at the Palestra, and then averaged around eight points a game and close to 40% shooting threes in a solid senior year.

It was a fairly simple question. Why change the subject? You shouldn't jump to questioning motives.

Scottie Pippen was a walk-on manager at Central Arkansas. A growth spurt here or there.. hitting the weights.. being a gym rat.. it is possible.

Yeah he definitely had some games where he got hot from 3. He and Al Karner were sneaky good from deep.

Robin James had a big game at the Palestra in the quarterfinals of the A10 Tournament against GW his senior year. He was 6 for 6 in three pointers and finished with 23 points to help RU upset second seated GW.

I answered the fairly simple question with a simple answer. “No.” Then added my commentary. We’re a top 25 team, not Central Arkansas in 1985. It is extremely rare for a walk on to play on a top 25 team in 2020

So you're saying we couldn't make room for a young Scottie Pippen? Is that what your "no" means?

(yes, I am poking fun.. I understand your point.. but everyone on the team is there for a reason)

And understanding that you are poking fun, if Lobach has a 7 inch growth spurt in college as Pippen did, I think he would get some time.

No, he’s a walk on for a reason, this isn’t football and we aren’t a bad program anymore.

Nothing is expected from these guys. Stop asking, every year it’s the same thing

jesus, first off Jake dadika is only where he is now because of his dad.

secondly he only played because of necessity and injuries and how bad we were.

For division one purposes most of these walk-ons are trash. They could play at the D3 level and maybe the D2 level but they usually aren’t very good.

The exception (Jake dadika) isn’t the rule. And he wasn’t very good when he played so again don’t expect anything from these glorified cheerleaders

    trash???

I have no idea on who you are...but have you EVER played basketball with college basketball players on the court?

I have when I was younger ...and I can tell you that unless you are an former division one basketball
Player, you would be outright surprised on how good even the division three players are compared to the rest of the world.

You are knocking elite athletes and players ...who are just not “the best of the elite” who get to play high major division one basketball ...

until you get on a court and see how fast it is...and because how big these guys are...how little space there really is, you will be clueless.

And should keep your ridic labels to yourself ....

exactly correct. it is a different game. the womens game is closer to anything normal guys play.. in fact, I once got rejected by a player from the womens team... making the exact same move/shot I used countless times vs men in pickup games.. never happened again.. but clearly she was playing at a different level and I did not even consider that... shame on me. I used to take advantage of guys thinking they could block my shot... never thought she'd be thinking that way.

He would get time if he had the 7 inch growth spurt combined with the point guard skills that Pippen had.

If this was 5 years ago or 10 years ago, Lobach would be under the Gil Biruta radar or something like CJ Gettys before he got to RU for his 5th year.

Lobach can play folks...the actual issue is this is a Top 20-25 program & the bar is being raised to find minutes.

relative to the d1 talent. I said that they could play at the D2 or D3 level but when you compare them to high major D1 players they are not very good.

Actually ...it’s you who needs a lesson in respect and not being an a$$...by not calling a walk-on “trash”..

actually ...here is your quote...and your comment about “most of these walk one are trash” ...”and these glorified cheerleaders” ...absolutely deserves my response which was dead on and well supported by others

The only trash was your post...and I’ll make a point to watch your stuff going forward to make sure if your trash in any form comes on this forum ...it’s well called out.

no need for your nonsense here....

Talk about reading comp...it’s not me salivating over the walk-ons

I actually agree with your premise that the chance of walk-one helping us at this point is low...

problem is...you don’t have to be an a$$hole about it and call the kids who are “glorified high school cheerleaders” and “trash”

apparantly it makes you feel better hiding behind a screen name to make a$$ comments like that ...but there isn’t a reason for them.

sorry I just still have the memory of some poster saying that we should give more minutes to a walk on because he was able to dribble the ball up the court when eastern Michigan was pressing down 30 with 2 minutes left.

someone explain this to me. please.. if we were up 30 on eastern Michigan with 2 minutes left.. why should the idea of giving minutes to walk-ons trigger someone the following summer?

you show respect to walkons because they contribute in practice if not in games. you give them minutes when you can to reward them for hard work in practice and all year long.

    You’re misunderstanding what I meant.

So we were up by 30 and EMU was pressing and whatever walk on it was broke the press and brought the ball up the court.

that night a poster than asked “should we give that walk on minutes as the backup point guard since he was able to break the pressure easily and showed ability to handle the ball”
