Seems that this year we can have one of the best defensive lines that we have ever assembled at Rutgers. With Darius Hamilton playing in his senior year--putting on more weight and wreaking havoc on the QB we should have one of the premier DT's in the BIG ten and if not the Country. He has been undersized before but is hopefully going to come in close to 275lbs and he was a monster last year even while he was underweight.
Next we have Turay. They guy was a monster last year and led the team in sacks. The crazy part is that he only played on 3rd downs for most of the season. This year in practice he has been practically unblockable...so much so that Flood has to take him out of scrimmages to give the QB's time to throw the ball. The emergence of Turay will likely free up hamilton and not allow him to get double teamed like he was most of last season. Turay becoming more of an every down player also helps us put constant pressure on the QB all 3 downs...if he learns how to play the run adequately and the schemes...he is a top 10 pick.
Next we have the other end in JPO. By Bobby's reports he is slated to be the most improved defensive player...which is saying something. With him and Turay playing ends...we should generate more pressure that in past years.
Finally we have the other tackle spot. This will either be Wilkins or Joseph. if either or both of those guys is even average...our DL should be devastating this year. HOping that free's up more guys on the back end and help in pass coverage...also we can run outside Blitzes with our LB's like Longa and Gause. Really excited to see how these guys play this year. Just hoping they all stay healthy.
