Thought this board could use a Rutgers football-related thread, so here's my crack at the 2-deep, as well as some of my thoughts. Would love to hear yours.

QB: Vedral, Sitkowski
RB: Pacheco, Young OR Adams
WR1: Melton, Jones
WR2: Washington, King
Slot: Cruikshank, Dremel
TE: Haskins OR Alaimo, Lewis OR Meyer

LT: O'Neal, Oskarrson
LG: Lonsdorf, Vretman
C: Hanson, Bowles
RG: Krimin, Cooper OR Rosso
RT: Paillant, Sutton

At QB, from what I've seen, I think Vedral gets the nod fairly easily (though if Sit improves as much as I believe he can, maybe he can make it interesting).
At TE, I think we will have four surprisingly serviceable guys in Haskins, Alaimo, Lewis, and Meyer. This will give us some good competition for reps. Meyer isn't very tall or fast, but he is an excellent blocker and catches everything thrown his way.
On the OL, I believe Lonsdorf would shift to LT if O'Neal goes down. Vretman is the 6th best guy, but after that, it is slimmmmm pickings. Hanson I believe will be very good down the line, not so sure about this year. And Paillant is my wild card. If he can be a serviceable RT, we'll have a chance. But right now, this group is BY FAR the biggest question mark on the team.

DE: Tverdov, Kromah OR Jutwreten
DT: Barrow, Burke OR Ahanotu
DT: Dwumfour, Turner
DE: Onyechi, Mason OR Anderson

SAM: Jennings OR Maddox-Williams
MIKE: Fogg, Battle
WILL: Singleton OR Fatukasi

CB: Young, Abraham
FS: White, Jones OR Paul
SS: Izien, Barrow
CB: Avery, Gooden OR Williams

Loveeee all the OR's on the DLine. Schiano is a magician snagging those transfers. Let's see if Panagos, Vallone, Noonan, Westerman and co. can coach these guys up to be more than just serviceable. Because right now that's what this group is - solid not spectacular with great depth.
Same at LB. Fogg is the best of the bunch, and I think Singleton breaks through and lives up to his potential. Six extremely solid guys. Note that 4 are seniors, though, so look out for Toure, Igwenawu, and Ugwu....one of them will likely be starting the following year.
DB's are decent but unproven. I think both safety and corner have the worst starter talent and worst depth of any units on the defense, though to be fair the other units are all solid. We need Fran to do a good job coaching up these these young guys, but the cupboards aren't completely bare. Ash was best with the DB's, so Greg and Fran have a little something to work with.

K: Davidovicz
P: Korsak
LS: Taylor

Don't look now but all of our specialists are graduating. Enjoy them while we've got them...

That's my take, OL (and obviously QB) is my biggest concern on offense (and on the entire team), while DB is my biggest question mark on defense. Specialists should be excellent, and hopefully with Greg back, we'll get back to our kick-blocking roots!

Good stuff. No Langan at all? He should be on the field somewhere. No clue how the Offense will look but if we go the Nebraska route Vedral likely starts. I have not seen any OK St or Princeton film so I’m not sure if that’s the route Gleeson takes. If we want to stretch the D Art is clearly the man. If we want to keep them off balance with the RPO Art will need some time to adjust and with no Spring ball he’s probably behind the curve already. Vedral has not played much but he seems confident in and capable in that system.

I hope Langan sees the field, just have no idea where he’d fit in. Maybe he’ll have certain packages a la Jabu Lovelace.

And I think Gleeson prefers a mobile QB. That, among other things, will give Vedral the easy nod I think.

If we’re going to run we will need 3 QB’s minimum as we have seen at MD and Nebraska. Langan seems durable and Art is durable as well at least taking hits in the pocket. . Vedral may also be I only know he got hurt in the only game he started but came back late in the game? Hopefully the young guys can run too. It’s all hands on deck if we go that route. This isn’t the Patriot league or the Big 12 where defense is optional.

What happened to the TE transfer last year from Wisconsin?
Was he to receive a medical waiver from last year....

Also Lewis should start at TE but both will play a lot so no issue there. At OL I like Lonsdorf and am intrigued by Sutton. He’s an athletic type which Gleeson likes. Remember he lined up at TE his freshman year just like Jonah Jackson did.

Penniston graduated. Don't think he was able to receive a 6th year because he would have needed 2 full years of injury. He was only injured during his RS senior year.

Schiano was never one to rotate LB’s but I agree all 6 of them have played a lot and outside of Fogg and Futakasi they all have their strengths and weaknesses. This should be a great group of battles all year long and it will be interesting to see if Schiano rotates them since we do have depth and a lot of veterans as you noted.

I'm not at all sold on Sutton yet (well I assume no one is). Intriguing like you said but I have serious doubts. A 280 pound OT is a recipe for disaster in the B1G. That's why I'm praying Paillant is serviceable.

Are we sure he is only 280 lbs? I would peg him at 295 this season based on natural progression of OL.

I know 3 NJ guys who came out of HS at around 240 lbs and added weight each year and all had NFL careers. O’Hara and Haslam for RU and Fiore at Hofstra. Sutton is athletic like the latter two. I think O’Hara was a road grader all along.

Sutton's athleticism is noticable out there, even against B1G competition. If he can add the weight and strength/power, he can be a very good starter.

I thought we had a strong OL class in 2017 and it would be good now with Clark, Vretman and Bowles, I guess you never know. Krimin and O'neal should be solid, I hope others step up. We have great backs but they can't do it on their own. Hopefully Vedral is a step up from what we have seen lately at qb, above average running and passing would be a joy to watch. Looking forward to an offense that is unpredictable and hard to defend. D looks decent thanks to the transfers.

I still think Sit throws the best deep ball and Gleeson likes to take shots. He will call easy throws for whoever is QB. Granted Vedral was behind 2 good QBs at Nebraska but not sure I've seen enough to project him as the default starter.
I think Young takes the Blackshear role in the slot and Pacheco gets the lions share of carries. I think Young breaks out this year.

Sit may throw a good looking deep ball but what deep ball throws has he actually completed?

I think if we're well coached and can execute this can be a middle of the pack conference team. The depth is the biggest issue but there is definitely talent there.

Not sure of Sutton's weight but I tend to not get too worked up on it as much as many others do. If an OT has foot work, balance, hands, athletic and smart- he can easily play at or around 280.
I can tell you there were many games that Haslam was well under that weight both in college games and NFL games too. His first NFL start at LT against the Steelers, he got the game ball and was down to about 265 for that game. It wasn't ideal, as he had the flu but while usually listed at 304 in college, he played most games around 280. Zuttah, Stapleton, Stephenson all played most of their college games at about 290...and I would go to battle with all those under 300lb guys I just mentioned against B1G DL's all day long.

Roger that, good to hear. And very interested to see how he and Paillant look against our DL. If they can hold their own maybe we’ve got a shot.

Who is the transfer or decommit from Baylor?
Peyton Powell, apparently he’s starting out at QB (was likely promised a shot), but those “in the know” strongly believe he’ll be switched to WR or DB rather quickly. My guess, based on very little, is that he’ll play safety for us. But not much this year.
