Herald News Bergen record has the shot of the day picture of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wearing the jersey of alumnus Derek Jeter....

Umm what?

Jeter was born in NJ and they moved to Michigan as far as I know he never went to college either.

was never even a former student at michigan....you have to graduate to be an alumnus

Jeter was born in NJ and grew up in Michigan. He was going to accept a scholarship to play baseball at Michigan unless he was drafted by the Yankees. The rest, as they say, is history. Still, he has been a Michigan fan his whole career.

it seems that he is wearing a different jersey in every state that he goes to for a camp. A bit of pandering to the local crowds... Some of them are a bit taunting to the local football coaches, and I would include the Jeter jersey in that group. Yes, Jeter is from Michigan but RU now has a "connection" with the Yankees (sign in the stadium, Ash/Hobbs throwing out first pitch, we're playing a game there) so I see a bit of a in your face from Jimmy.

John Harkins,Hilly Flitcraft, Walt French & Hardy Peterson are some of the RU Baseball players I think deserves our praise and since I’m not a Yankee fan ( never was or will be) don’t care what the Michigan raised Jeter wears or how he did as a pro. Understand why Yankee fans like him, but this non Yankee fan don’t have him on my short list of Yankee players I liked.
The players listed above and in link ( below) are the type of players I like no matter which MLB team they played for or are involved with now.
>The Rutgers University baseball program started in 1866 and John Harkins was their first player to make it to the Major League level. A half century later Hardy Peterson would break into the majors and become the first Rutgers hall of famer.<

Ah, didn't Ash wear a Ynkee jersey first? Harbaugh is obviously copying him....

Not true. Just have to attend the school

Wasnt this the big deal when Rutgers hired Eddie Jordan that they called him an alumni yet he had never graduated?

Someone does 4 years and graduates from Rutgers and another does a semester but fails out but they are both considered alumni?

Either way Jeter is not a Michigan alumni
