Did Schiano 2.1 jump the shark today?

It did for me. He’s here for a cool 4mil a year. Incoming recruiting class sucks. QB sucks. He suckered RU into a cool retirement just like Ash
I think this might be it. If I'm the AD my test is what OC can he get in here to turn it around. In reality - I don't know who in demand would work for him.

Can't wait for the post-game pressor to see Schiano answering softball questions in his little self-righteous way. Whenever a reporter does actually question a bad decision by Schiano, he gets defensive and macho like a petulant teenager.

Great, intellectual coach we have here. No wonder he's out there killing it as a gameday tactician.

There is just no talent on offense. Zero. Our receivers are slow and can't get open. Besides our talented freshman who is out for the season, our RBs are average. OLine is below average. Our dual threat QB with a rocket arm can't hit the blind side of a barn and can't or won't run. He also has terrible football IQ and still makes pop Warner mistakes.

Our best tight end is 6'3 Johnny Langan.

Defense is good enough to at least keep us in games for a little bit.

OC doesn’t matter. There were some really good schemes and big plays open. You have a QB who looks blind out there. Plenty of missed open plays and a comedy of errors.

He can't even hit screen passes. They were perfectly set up for big yardage and threw passes Wilt Chamberlin couldn't catch. His downfall is probably going to be hitching his wagon to the Gavin train and bringing in no competition so doesn't get upset.

The way Penn State continues to dominate Rutgers is embarrassing and simply a reality check why top tier recruits choose Happy Valley over Piscataway.Schiano is learning that the Big Ten is far stronger than the Big East and that there is no easy path to change the status quo.

Wrong. It matters a helluva lot when you need to play in the portal and kids with options will pick you or won't pick you based in large part on the OC/his track record.

I agree with much of what you say, except the part about receivers getting open. The number of wide open receivers with lots of YAC available that GW missed badly won't fit in two hands. Let's get an average QB.

Seemed like he was always scrambling or had defenders in his face.

He made a nice pass to Ryan on the first play in the second half. Ryan had 10 yards on the DBs and couldn't outrun them for a TD. That play HAS to be a TD.

@yessir321 here is another one of your buddies that think Wimsatt is not the answer
I'm skeptical of Wimsatt too. He doesn't seem to have great football IQ and constantly overthrows his receivers. Where is this dual threat ability? He could easily make up for some of his passing weaknesses by being able to run. But he hasn't.

How many games has he started? And you're expecting him to be polished?

Uh no, I expect him to make mistakes but also flash some big play ability. Also I expect a dual threat QB to be able to run. Some of his mistakes are head scratching, like Pop Warner level stuff.

I humbly suggest you let the guy grow a little into the position before you throw him overboard.

Thought the same thing - could not believe when I realized that it was also our best receiver. Absolutely no open field speed - disturbing.

As for Wimsatt my biggest concern is not how he reads the field - that can be improved with experience. But his passing touch is a huge concern. Like three point shooting in basketball it is a skill and you just can't teach "touch" - either you have it or you don't. Greg better be hitting that portal or this is going to end in a disaster.
