We may be 2-6, but this really doesn't feel like a 2-6 team. If we made all the plays we should have made, we're 5-3. A few less plays, we're 4-4. A play or two more and we're 3-5. Yet here we are at
2-6, which to be frank, is pretty disappointing.

But nevertheless, this isn't the time to point fingers. Its the time to regroup, take stock, circle the wagons, and SWEEP our remaining 4 games, just like how we got on a roll in 2007. Our remaining games are tough but winnable. We have our quarterback. Our wrs proved to be effective vs Minnesota, and our RB's were also effective vs Minnesota.

Gio = Mike Teel
Andre Patton = Kenny Britt
Robert Martin/Josh Hicks = Jersey Joe

So the charge for our remaining games is simple, avoid turnovers, make plays, and win games. There's no OSU or Michigan or Washington on the schedule, which gives us the opportunity to be at our best. 6-6 looks possible. Lets make it happen!

If we get the offense going, the defense won't be on the field as much so they will be more rested and more effective. I actually like the way Al thinks, but sweeping the remaining 4 games is asking a lot. Then again, here's to hoping for shocking outcomes.

It was 2008 where we were 1-5

Teel was a senior that year..much different situation

The words Patton and Britt in the same sentence make me laugh

Same with jersey Joe and martin/Hicks but for the opposite reason

Wasn't 2008 loaded with upperclassmen and a team that was expected to maybe win the Big East?

That 2008 team lost its five games by a total of 61 points (12.2 point average per game)

This team lost its 6 games so far by 207 points (34.5 point/game).

There is no resemblance between the two seasons.

No echos. Only a fool would see any similarities. Different coach, different team, different players.

That team would have gotten SMOKED by Washington, OSU, and Michigan had they played them earlier in the season. different time, different coaches, but same rut we find ourselves in.

I think it is fair to say we should be competitive in these last four games. As much as I would love to agree with the OP I think 2/2 is a more reasonable expectation for these remaing games. I will root for a sweep but a competitive 2 and 2 will work. But first, let's solve the falling behind by 14 or more in the first quarter.

Patton is no Britt today or any other day.

He doesn't need to be. All he has to do is be the best Patton he can be. He's gotten open plenty of times these past few games but the qbs have got to be able to deliver the ball.

I'm actually optimistic. Gio will have another week of reps, Martin should be back. No one on the schedule that impresses me.

Sorry but in having trouble understanding how we will win any game for the rest of the season. Penn Statw will beat us by at least 3 scores and maybe more.

Indiana is a much better team than we've played before- and they will likely beat us by 14 or more. MSU is still a much better team from a coaching and talent perspective and its there.

I'm not sure about Maryland...I just think we have 2 years to start showing confidence and depth. That might go either way but it's at Maryland so I will say 2-10 it is. But we will be more competitive with Gio and we are understaffed... We will improve next year.

The remaining teams on our schedule are good, but they're not invincible. There's enough talent to defeat the remaining teams. But its on us to execute and minimize turnovers, mistakes and mental errors. This is the hand we've been dealt so we must do the best we can. It'll be easier for Ash to recruit with a few more W's than with solely 2 wins, so we've got to pull out all the stops.

And when we play Maryland they will be coming off of a brutal 3 game stretch:
at Michigan, Ohio State, and at Nebraska. They will be pretty beat up...

Rutgers is finally coming off a by week (rest and recovery) and has had two weeks to prepare for this HOME game. Methinks the score will be Iowa close one way or another.

First five B1G Games:
Iowa 3-2 in conference (losses to NW and Wisconsin)
Ohio State 4-1 in conference (loss to Nits)
Michigan 5-0 in conference
Illinois 1-4 in conference (this one hurts)
Minnesota 3-2 in conference (losses to Nits and Iowa)
Total: 16-9 in conference

Upcoming:
Indiana 2-3 in conference (beat MSU, Maryland)
MSU 0-5 in conference
PSU 4-1 in conference (barely beat Minnesota; destroyed by Michigan)
Maryland 2-3 in conference (beat Purdue and MSU)
8-11 in Conference

Clearly, except for PSU, we are facing the dregs of the conference in our last 4 games. Also, our offense was horrific until the QB change. Like our chances in 3 of the remaining 4 and if we can come out and play mistake free against PSU and win turnover battle, we could beat PSU too.

The brutal early season schedule, the loss of Grant, poor QB (pre-Gio) and special teams play, and the costly turnovers have been huge contributors to RU's 2-6 record.
But wait..... the QB change can be the big equalizer here. Gio throws for over 200 yards on the road against a legit B1G team. The previous starter didn't come close to that against Howard! If RU led by Gio can make Minnesota beat us on a last second FG, why can't we also put a scare into Michigan State? Or come out on top?
Indiana at home will not be easy. Ash has to contend not only with 2 QBs, but also that 270 lb wildcat QB. Yet its home, and Indiana's defense can be exploited.
Penn State looks too strong for RU to handle at the moment. But if we manage to get there at 4-6 with the night home crowd and everything, its a puncher's chance.
And Maryland at the cusp with 5 wins, has 3 real toughies before us.
All in all, a 2-2 finish for 4-8 will feel a lot better than last year's 4-8.
