What's the difference? We have no $$ for new facilities?

We haven't cheated (and won NC's) like Sarah, UCheat or UNC (University of No Classes)?

We can't recruit the top level players to RU because we don't ring up "W's"...just "L's".

Until some 5* kid(s) somewhere in the hinterlands of NJ, NY, FLA, PA decide on a lark...let's play for Rutgers...yeah that's it R U T G E R S / make win a NC: Rutgers is not chopped chicken liver...we're not that good (24 years without going to the dance / COUNTING)..

I really have no feel for EJ and his contributions. Seems like switching man to man to zones...would be a choice...especially when virtually every game we turn some average to above average player into the 2nd coming of Michael Jordan. He needs to kick some ass (like Rice); improve free throwing (like Bannon); improve recruiting (like Dickie V)....dunno- but it ain't happenin now. Meanwhile EJ offers level headedness.

When you lose over 20 games...keeping a level head isn't really an asset- is it?

I think ruman expects Top 20 recruiting classes 1 year after the Rice scandal. I agree, national players viewed the Rice tape and press and said......I wanna play there.

I agree. Keeping score is for squares. We should be happy with the competition between schools. Make Eddie coach for life. We can keep losing for 10 more years. No problem. Wouldn't want to put pressure on anyone to actually produce.

Well yes - if we are going to hire a Bannon/Waters/Rice/FHJ level coach from basically D2 level schools, then we might as well stick with Eddie. We cant recruit top level players because we dont spend money. We dont spend it on coaches or faciltiies. But coaches are cheaper and more effective.

Lets put it this way - get Eddie to retire, and go out and spend $4 million on an HC right now, and hes bringing in recruits in Novemeber. Decide to build a facility and its probably not open until the 2017 season, and therefore not affecting recruiting until 2018. So you are talking March 2022 before the new facility is likely bringing us to the tournament, and that still depends on having a good coach.

All of the facility talk is just deflection from the real issue - we bring in MAC level coaches and expect non-MAC results.

Lots of people hire coaches from that "level" of schools and do just fine. Ben Howland came from Northern Arizona, right? (And rumored to be hired next week by UNLV.) Mike Brey coached at Delaware. Ratface at Duke was at Army (as was his mentor, Bobby Knight). John Bielein was at Canisius after being in lower divisions. I would suggest each of those is below "MAC level." And while I'm not going to go searching the Internet, there have to be dozens of other examples.0

Now, as for our hires, Bannon was a terrific coach and a logical hire if he wasn't a train wreck of a personality. Waters is another fine coach, he just didn't belong this far east. Yet the RAC was a great place to be during his tenure. Even Rice was THE hot young coach for two years at the time he was hired, and those of us who argued for Fraschilla at the time were told we were "setting" and we needed a "young, dynamic" guy and not a retread.

Finding both the right coach and the right fit sure isn't easy, but I will not place the blame on the "level" of coach we hired. Too many other schools have managed to do it and get it right.

Because of our monetary circumstances EJ will be here awhile until we can upgrade facilities and HC

He will STILL be the guy that brought calm to the Rutgers storm......and he MAY just surprise us....
