Wally Judge on when he will arrive in NJ:

“I have no idea. I’m trying to move my stuff out of here in Kansas and get situated and trying to find a living arrangement in New Jersey. It will probably be sometime early in the summer.”

Darius Hamilton on creating his own identity:

"I'm enjoying it a lot. At the beginning of my junior year, it was kind of like 'Oh, he's Keith Hamilton's son' 'Keith Hamilton played 14 years in the NFL.' Now I've kind of made a niche for myself, which is nice."

Quentin Gause on his spring game conversation with Eric LeGrand:

“I asked him as an incoming freshman what is the best way to prepare and he said 'just come in, focus on the task, work hard and stay on point.'"

Gilvydas Biruta on what he is looking forward to about returning home to Lithuania where he will compete in the U20 European Championships:

“Just seeing family and friends. And of course competing against my former teammates and just showing them how good the preparation in the United States is.”

Jonathan Mitchell on being part of a foundation:

“In three or four years, when I’m playing somewhere, I’ll be watching a Big East game with my teammates and my team will be better and I’ll say, ‘I helped build that.’ We were the foundation - our senior class, we’re the foundation of something special.”

Jonathan Mitchell on struggling to get others to buy in:

“I think all year it was a struggle. One of my best friends, Dane - he looks up to me and I see him as a little brother, but he struggled buying into the system. It was an adjustment year for him. I think with him moving forward and me not being here, I think he has to step up, mature, and be that leader they want him to be. He’s a perfect example of needing to buy into the system, because he was trying to fight it all year.”

Rutgers next commit will not come until June

Recruiting tidbits

Greg Garmon (Erie McDowell, PA)

Rutgers did not make Garmon’s latest top five (UNC, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, West Virginia) but that doesn’t necessarily mean the Scarlet Knights are out of the running for one of PA’s top running backs.

“I have my top 5, but it could change at anytime,” said Garmon. “Rutgers has a chance to make it back in.”

Blake Rankin
(Bloomsburg, PA)

The quarterback has enjoyed the last couple of weeks since he committed to Rutgers hours before the spring game.

“I love it, it’s a huge weight off my shoulders and I can start recruiting kids from my class now,” said Rankin. “It’s awesome and I am very happy with my decision.”

Leo Krizanovic (Paramus Catholic)

Rutgers assistant coach Jeff Hafley paid a visit to Paramus Catholic last week to inquire about the fullback/linebacker.

“He said that he'd like for me to come down to camp, and he would be back up to watch me work out and run,” said Krizanovic.

A lot of schools are looking at Krizanovic on both sides of the ball, but Hafley’s visit shed some light on where RU sees him playing.

“Coach Haf is going to come up with the linebackers coach, so I’m guessing they would like me on defense,” said Krizanovic.

Al Page (Columbus, NY)

About six weeks stand between the defensive tackle and his trip to Rutgers which will ultimately be a permanent one.

"It's moving by really fast; I won't lie I'm a little nervous but real excited at the same time,” said Page.

Page will jump right in the mix and compete for playing time on the defensive line, wehere there seems to be an immediate opportunity.

"To the fans, I would basically say, I'm going to give you everything I have," said Page. "I'm all about helping the Scarlet win. I'm going to bring my best."

Dan Mastromatteo (Holy Spirit)

The Mastromatteo situation just added a new twist when Michigan State became the eighth school to offer the junior linebacker on Thursday.

“It’s great,” Mastromatteo said Thursday night about his latest offer. “Big time football program.”

Ish Mack (Immaculata)

The speedy senior is still undecided where he will spend next season and, for a while, he was contemplating walking on at Rutgers. But that plan seems to have fallen by the wayside.

“I will finally make my decision on Wednesday of next week between Towson, East Stroudsburg and Kean,” said Mack.

Mack mentioned why he ruled out the possibility of walking on at Rutgers.

“Rutgers was highly interested in me since sophomore year and I got hurt the end of my junior year and they kind of stopped. I don’t know why and about a month ago they were interested again. So I don’t know.”

Ryan Morris (Barnegat)

The big tight end collected his eleventh offer yesterday from Marshall and remains the only NJ junior with double digit offers who does not have one from Rutgers.

Taylor Reynolds (Newark, DE)

The Quarterback/Athlete is still hearing from Rutgers. With the commitment of Rankin, Reynolds is now being recruited as an athlete by Rutgers and will perform as such at the Schiano Shootout for Team Delaware which also features Eric Patton and 2013 prospect Andre Patton. That contingent will also perform at the Rutgers Summer Cam after being invited by RU assistant coach Phil Galiano.

With the commitment of Rankin, Penn State has picked up their interest in Reynolds as Coach Jay Paterno watched him throw to incoming Penn State frosh Kyle Carter this past Thursday at Newark High School coming away very impressed.

Shayne Sullivan (Archbishop Spaulding, MD)

The 6-foot-6, 270 OT who will participate in the Big Man Academy. Sullivan holds a Temple offer and is claiming a lot interest from Rutgers, Duke, Virginia and Maryland as all have visited during the spring evaluation period. Sullivan also holds RU in very high esteem as of now. His teammate, DT Malik Johnson (6-foot-2, 290) will also particiapte in the Big Man Academy.

Five-Star Showcase

Prospects from the northeast will gather at rivals.com's Five-Star Showcase in Stamford, CT this Saturday to put their talents on display. There will be some RU targets on hand including Armani Reeves (Catholic Memorial), Tre Bell (St. Peter’s Prep) 2013 and there is even a chance Ryan Brodie (Long Branch) will make the trip.
