Leonte Carroo on how he is viewed primarily as a deep threat but is working on all parts of his game:

"I've been getting stronger and faster and working on my route-running. I've been doing a lot of eye-downfield drills and working on throwing CB's off with my receivers coach. I've been working on my underneath routes too."

Steve Longa on what it means when his head coach Leo Ciappina says he is the embodiment of the "Rutgers Man":

"It means a lot. He started this program when I was a freshman, we've been through a lot together. I see him every day. He has access to all my teachers, my guidance counselor. He knows my grades, so for him to say that means a lot."

Tashawn Bower on how he interacted with the RU staff at the Big Man Camp:

"I was mostly with Coach Fraser and Coach Smith during the day. They told me they like what they see. If I did something wrong they would critique me and show me the right way. Then, I'd go out and do it again until I perfected it."

New RU head lacrosse coach Brian Brecht on his future at RU:

“I certainly want to play at the highest level we’re capable of playing at and to do that, we need to develop the guys in the current locker room and give them the passion and excitement to go out to practice every day and perform to be the best they can be. We want to recruit the best student-athletes and see the value and excitement of what Rutgers can give them.”

Recruiting tidbits

Ryan Brodie (Long Branch)

Brodie’s expected visit to Rutgers won’t take place today due to a scheduling conflict and will be postponed until some time next week.

Brandon Napoleon (St. Peter’s Prep)

Napoleon will visit West Virginia today, where he is hoping to land offer No. 8. Napoleon has the Mountaineers fifth in his current top 5, one spot behind Rutgers.

Canaan Severin
(Worcester Academy, MA)

Rivals.com’s 151st ranked player in the nation continues to receive an abundance of attention which has included a fair amount from Rutgers.

“They want me to come down the 26th,” Severin said of Rutgers. “Coach Robb Smith and my coach are very good friends.”

At this point, Severin is not 100 percent positive he will make it down to the Rutgers camp. Recruited as an athlete, not every school has been crystal clear about where they see Severin playing at the next level. That includes Rutgers.

“That’s the thing, they [RU] want to work me out at the camp to see what’s best for me,” said Severin.

Abner Logan
(Dexter, MA)

The four-star linebacker is up to five offers and has been hearing more and more from Rutgers as the recruiting season wears on. He has been invited to camp at Piscataway and has accepted that invitation.

“They just want me to come to camp so they can figure out where to place me,” Logan said of Rutgers. “Perhaps if I do well, they will offer.”

Marcus Coleman
(Camden Catholic)

Syracuse and Delaware have offered the 2012 prospect who is listed as a defensive tackle. But Rutgers has other ideas as to where he might line up at the next level.

“I’m talking to Rutgers heavy but no offer yet,” said Coleman. “…They want me to play center. They wanted me to come to their linemen camp last week but I was unable to go. They think I can be really good at the next level at center.”

Kalief Joyner (Christ the King, NY)

The big tight end has shown a lot of promise and is still in search for his first offer. He will camp at Rutgers as he continues to seek out that ever-elusive first offer. He mentioned what he has been hearing from the RU coaching staff.

“They are truly interested in me, but they want to see me perform at their camp.”

He went on to offer his thoughts on Rutgers.

“I like it. Rutgers has a lot to offer athletically and academically. I love their coaching staff and the way they run their practices. And their facilities are state of the art.”

Myles Nash (Timber Creek)

The 2013 6-foot-4 quarterback won’t be camping at Rutgers because of team practices and personal workouts he already has planned. However, he was on campus last weekend.

“Rutgers does have my interest though," said Nash, “…I was at Rutgers last Saturday though supporting my teammates Dajuan Drennon and Greg Webb at the big man competition. So I did get to see some things as well.”

Jason Sylva
(Tabor Academy, MA)

The talented linebacker recently pulled in an offer from Buffalo and added one from Boston College this past week. Sylva, overall MVP of the 2011 NUC/Rivals.com Five-Star Showcase, drew a lot of early interest from Rutgers, but the Scarlet Knights have since backed off.

Dan Crimmins (Demarest)

The 6-foot-5 Crimmins bulked up to 220 this off-season and is now being recruited as a tight end. The move has already started to pay off. He pulled in an offer from Temple and received one yesterday from Boston College. Crimmins could very well emerge as the state’s No. 3 tight end prospect behind Ryan Morris and Michael Giacone. As of now, he is not planning to camp at Rutgers.

Shahbaz Ahmed
(Paul VI)

The defensive end picked up his third offer from UNC-Central yesterday to along with ones from Temple and Western Michigan. He had this to say about what offers he’d like to get in the future.

“Rutgers and Pitt are offers I would love to pick up, Iowa also. I camped at Pitt last week and will be at Rutgers on the 27th or 28th. I’m not sure about Iowa yet.”
