No. 17 Penn State field hockey faces Rutgers in final road game
With the end of the season approaching, No. 17 Penn State will face Rutgers at 2 p.m. Friday in its final regular season road match.
Not completely sure, but I do know that beating PSU is a must, to get us back to .500 at 7-7. We should win our final game against UMass-Lowell next week to put us at 8-7.
The only reason we have a chance with 8-7 record prior to the BTT is that we have a strong RPI of #14 because of our very difficult schedule.

RU playing like they want to be the last team in the NCAA Tourney. Handle business vs UMass-Lowell and win at least 1 B1G Tourney game and they have a shot based on their RPI.
Final regular season game is next week against a not-horrible UMass-Lowell team from the America East Conference. The game is on the road.
UMass-Lowell is ranked #40 in the RPI, and although they are 8-6, they are 7-0 at home. So this will be a challenging game for Rutgers, one they must win in order to keep NCAA hopes alive.
The good news is that Rutgers seems to have found its stride these last three games, reverting back to the defensive culture that brought the team to prominence in the past few years. 2-0, 1-0, and 1-0 wins.
Defense travels.

Funny to watch just how cannibalistic this conference is in field hockey. Depending on how the rest of today's games shake out, real chance one of nationally-ranked Iowa and Penn State will get left out of the BTT.
