Gang,

I'm down in NJ for the Thanksgiving holiday and plan on bringing my 13 year old son to his first ever RU game on Friday. Any suggestions for grabbing tickets and seat locations so we can have a great experience? What is the latest we can walk up for tickets? Thanks.

Should be able to walk up to the ticket window just before game time and get seats. They can let you know what's available and you should have plenty of choices.

You can go online right now (Scarlet knights dot com) and pick your tickets for $28 in mezzanine.
Essentially right next to the arena is Henry's diner and another 1/2 block to 16 handles which is a frozen yogurt place (ice cream with whatever toppings you could imagine).
Both places make a perfect pre or post game stop.

Good opportunity to have little father son talk with your 13 year old boy.
.You know the one? About the 76 team with Sellers Dabney Jordan Copeland Jamnin James...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yeah, you'll be able to buy outside.

If you go to the ticket window and If you don't care about being in the 100s, buy the cheapesst ticket and move as low into the 200s as you can.

Get there early enough to see the player introductions, which are fun. Get seats in the 100 level from a scalper for $20 apiece so your son has a more memorable experience.

Just enjoy the "first" with you son. Just like you can never have a second chance to make a good impression, you also cannot for a first.

We had a blast. We ended up paying full price for 2 seats in 105 and loved every minute of it. My kid is OFFICIALLY hooked on RU basketball. There was one really big downer and that was that there were 2 kids sitting behind us that were rooting against RU. At one point I turned around and asked them if they were E. Carolina fans (they were making noise whenever one of our players was about to attempt a foul shot) and the one kid answered "no". He then said under his breath that he was a UConn fan. I was really pissed. Of course I wasn't going to say anything but my son was also pissed. He couldn't understand why someone, who wasn't even an E. Carolina fan, would come to an RU game and root against the home school. I told him that they were typical NJ punk kids who only root for front runners. Unfortunately, that didn't explain why they bothered to show up to our game.

Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time and my son will now watch the games on TV with me (we live in Maine). He's been a long suffering FB fan for too many years but maybe now he'll have something to get excited about. I can't wait to see another live game with him.

years ago I took my son down College Ave....where even my Cornell Alum fans were impressed
I took him to Old Queens...explained our history
then....Kirkpatrick Chapel
all before a football game where we beat Princeton in our last meeting

To this day he respects Rutgers
we shared a great memory that day!

I hope your son remembers his day with dad at rutgers forever!!!

Uconn sux, the kids parents are losers if their kids are cheering against the home team
