flood gets goodbye meeting with players

These are not easy situations, but it is a good sign that it is being handled so thoughtfully.

Jeez people I am glad he got to meet with the team . But he lost a job coaching football, it's not like someone died. He was lucky to be given a job he wasn't qualified for and keep it for not 1 or 2 but 4 years ! And he made millions doing it . Good luck to the guy , but good riddance .

After the initial whirlwind yesterday with all the info coming out, having had time to reflect. I obviously feel bad. I know Kyle is a good man, I know he loved his job and loves his players, so its sad to see it all go down this way. Obviously had to happen for several reasons, but I think a lot of us would've liked for him to succeed.

The fact that Floods a good guy is what hurts the most. It's like finding out your best friend is moving away. Finally the day comes when the car is loaded you shake hands and watch the car drive away. Good luck Kyle Flood.

Good luck, Coach Flood.

I do have inside information that Flood made Rettig sit behind Laviano at the meeting. There was also a touching moment when Coach Flood handed off his notepad doodles to Coach Wilson.

I would hope EVERYONE on this board would've liked him to succeed because that would mean our favorite team (in my case, favorite to root for in any sport at any level) would've been successful.

It's nice to see that he was able to have a final meeting with the team.

she emailed you,-- great, but when will have something to say to the public--are her lips still sealed?

I think my old junior high needs a substitute math teacher...
stop with this he could coach the OL or he seems like a swell guy...good f'in riddance...get the hell out...should have no part of RU...

I actually just received a response from Julie, to an e-mail I sent yesterday, which was 100% positive towards RU and its future. I really appreciated the words she wrote and her taking the high road, in a major way, doing so.
I did as well. She wished the best for RU and would be rooting for them.

I wanted him to succeed and defended him up to this season .
Then withdrew my support because of his coaching and some of the things off the field , but wish him the best in whatever comes up next for him.

She doesn't need to say a damn word to the public, to be honest, at this time. Geeze man you're so obsessed it's scary. Thought Id share something interesting with you, regarding how she's handling this, and instead you're an ass. SMH.

I have no doubt that coach Flood did the best he could and truly wanted to win. He did provide us with a few good wins and a few exciting recruits. I wish him the best of luck going forward.

This. As recently as August I thought Kyle was growing into the role and could be a 10-year guy here. I hated banging the drum for him to go but it had to be done for the good of the university. As I've said in many threads over the past few weeks, it's nothing personal. He's a good dude, I think a good OL coach and would probably make a very good FCS head coach at an Ivy/Patriot League school. I wish him and his family the best of luck.

I hope they let him keep the suit of armor he was always taking pictures with. They seemed to be real tight. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Not-for-nothing but pretty much EVERY collegiate HC gets to say goodbye to his/her team so I really don't understand comments like "he deserves it." It's just common practice I'd be shocked, and disappointed in my school, if we DIDN'T allow him to do as much.

My opinion:
I believe Barchi didn't want Julie talking to the press because he knew he might need a scapegoat for mismanaging Athletics again and by keeping her silent it would be easier to throw her to the wolves .
Refused to look at the video, but forced Pernetti out because of it.
Refused to fire Flood, just a suspension, but let Hermann go for the way Flood ran the FB program.
Seems to be a pattern there , one where Barchi walks away even though he was part of problem while the ADs pay the price.

Edit: glad that Kyle had time with his players, as a person he seemed to care for them , but as a HC didn't do the best for them

Nice post Madhat.

We heard yesterday that he wasn't allowed to see the players when he was told he was fired; hence the comments

Please no more Flood mentions.. Everytime I see his name, I get horrible football flashbacks

Sometimes that's how you get to the top job, by being good at playing the game. Not saying that I approve, but it is what it is.

It isn't just for Flood. Bonds get built on those fields. The players deserved this as much as Flood did.
