flood gets goodbye meeting with players

Sometimes that's how you get to the top job, by being good at playing the game. Not saying that I approve, but it is what it is.
It's really part of the reason why Game of Thrones is so popular. Unlike most of Disneyfied Hollywood, GOT demonstrates that the nice, good guy rarely wins and is most likely scapegoated when it is convenient. It is the devious and the schemers who succeed. I underestimated Bob Barchi. He may not be as incompetent as I thought he was. But Hobbs better look out. Christie's days in office are limited and if he doesn't play nice with Barchi, he'll be the next AD to get the axe.

Problem with having someone like that in charge is that they're likely more interested in their own position and survival than they are in the good and well-being of the organization they're leading. But in Barchi's case, he could have just sat for another year and done nothing and passed the problem to the next guy. So that may not be the case here.

All good, all-around so far. JH did the right thing. Flood getting an orderly exit and he and the team being treated as people with feelings and relationships.. Good thing. I do wonder how long Flood knew he was out and if he purposefully burned redshirts or refused to play Rettig for spite. But ultimately, it is all about the hiring process now.

Go get Peyton Manning.

My opinion:
I believe Barchi didn't want Julie talking to the press because he knew he might need a scapegoat for mismanaging Athletics again and by keeping her silent it would be easier to throw her to the wolves .
Refused to look at the video, but forced Pernetti out because of it.
Refused to fire Flood, just a suspension, but let Hermann go for the way Flood ran the FB program.
Seems to be a pattern there , one where Barchi walks away even though he was part of problem while the ADs pay the price.

Edit: glad that Kyle had time with his players, as a person he seemed to care for them , but as a HC didn't do the best for them

Now people are seeing what I have been seeing all along. Since he won't resign or fire himself, we are stuck with Barchi. I just hope he follows up this twin firing with more leadership and passion, and finally realizes he is the President of A BIg 10 university and we have to compete in both academics and athletics, not just academics.
