Fun While it Lasted Temple

That won't be Temple's only loss of the year...they played hard tonight though.

Well I'm not sold on Rhule yet, even if he had won, but their fun lasted longer than ours did in primetime. Credit for the fight.

Rhule can coach no doubt. But he should bolt Temple this year. His star will never be higher at that school.

He is not leaving for Rutgers.
Thank goodness, like I said decent coach but it helps to have a senior dominated team. If Rhule is smart he will maximize on this season and move on...or stay at Temple, either way I don't care. We've got bigger fish to fry.

Guys that coach in weak conferences who lead senior dominated teams to 1 off decent seasons do not impress me.
I agree, but given the choice between Rhule and Fludd, I'd take Rhule any day of the week.

I read where Maryland has asked permission to speak to Rhule.

I haven't looked into his background too much but looking at the stats the last two seasons his DC Phil Snow might be a good candidate for DC somewhere else. He's been DC at other schools but don't know how he did. He could be a good candidate for DC at better schools that is unless of course his wife loves Temple too.

He would certainly be on my list if I was selecting a new HC at RU. Not sure he would be at the top but that would depend on the conditions under which the selection is being made.

Another Charlie strong? How do we know. Walker is good and goes to show what a QB can do.

He was offered significant raises at Colorado and Wazzu, but passed.

CFBPC just hopes Temple beats the Memphis/Houston winner. Then they can just give 'em a NYD bowl game and let them go away.....

That seems really strange b/c I can't imagine any way where Temple would allow someone to talk to their HC in the middle of the season, particularly a good season.

exactly.... no one asks to speak to a HC during the season......

you reach out to their agent unofficially.

that sounds more like bad blog reporting or bs put out by Rhule's own camp

Temple is a good team, they will have fun the rest of the year.

It was be back to reality in the lowly AAC next year however.

What exactly does "It was be back" mean?

While Temple will be in the lowly AAC next year, Rutgers can now look forward to their annual place as a bottom feeder in the East division of the Big 10. Feel the excitement........

They've got that "MAC"-like thing going - which isn't a bad thing, at all - but where a team is dominated by kids who have been starting, for 3-4 years, and just have that "season." The thing that stinks is, unfortunately, those kids graduate and there's not a lot of PT experience to step up, but, it works. Next year, losing 6 guys on D and 6 on O (IIRC), is gonna be rough, but at least the O has Walker back.

*Will be back.

Listen I have no issues with Temple and was rooting for them last night. They are a very talented and experienced team this year.

But reality is its a senior heavy team, Rhule is headed to greener pastures ($$$), and Temple is in the AAC.

I'll gladly watch Rutgers lose to the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin etc. then watch them play the likes of Tulane, SMU, Memphis etc. Teams in the AAC will catch lighting in a bottle once in awhile but the conference sucks. Have fun.

No one ever said the Big 10 isn't a much better conference that pays way more money. But honestly - how much fun is it going to be watching Rutgers get pounded by these teams on a regular basis year after year? Penn State, Ohio State and Wisconsin destroyed Rutgers. And that is going to par for the course just about every year with Ohio State, Michigan, Mich. State and Penn State in your same division. Hey, but at least you had that close game with Michigan State. Will Rutgers ever be able to even catch lighting in a bottle for one season in this conference?

Being in the arguably the greatest conference ever created is awesome. We get opportunities on a weekly basis to beat some of the most successful programs in CFB history. I know you don't understand it, and never will, so I will put it in terms you might better comprehend.

Playing on a yearly basis the programs we now do, and the opportunity that provides, even in a loss, is light years better than playing in the same conference and beating up on Temple.

Sorry, but those are the facts. Enjoy the last hours of your magical season. It ain't happening again for a long time.

Got any links for that by any chance? Couldn't find any? What's Phil Snow's salary at Temple and what did Colorado/Wazzu offer?

TROOOFFF.

Temple has been terrific. Less us see what happens after all the seniors graduate. We lost a lot of starters and we are struggling with young kids especially in secondary.

RU Nuts,

The roster doesn't take as huge of a hit as you think. Most of the O returns. We lose Robbie Anderson to graduation, but Ventell Bryant, who played Saturday night has shown that he can play. PJ and Jahad both return. On D, we redshirted a lot of guys this season that got PT last year. While we may not be as stingy next season on points allowed, we're not going to be awful either and with the schedule set up the way that it is, 8 wins is certainly do-able.

For $hits and giggles, let's just say MR does walk. Already have his successor on the staff who is a hell of a recruiter. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to take control of the reigns if given the chance.

Like I have said to the RU posters on this board who suffered through dark days with your program, your kind words and well wishes have been appreciated. There's no reason why both programs can't have success at the same time, because neither program is going to be able to get every single recruit they target. You guys take prospects out of Bucks County, we take them out of North Jersey. It evens out.

To those who wish bad upon us, you must have an inferiority complex if you look over your shoulder to see what we're doing. Worry about RU. No need to rip us thinking we're the Temple of old because that's anything but the case.

To honest I don't see a lot o difference between this years AAC and the ACC....outside RU i usually pull for these eastern neighboring teams when their not playing us.

Thanks for that. Truth be told, my dad was a loyal RU supporter. Season ticket holder for close to 50 seasons. I too generally root for the old Eastern independents, with the exception of Sarahlose and BC. Those 2 always looked down on us. It makes me quite joyous that our super duper former coach is 0 for 6 in league play up in Chestnut Hill. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.

You sound like me....2 teams i hate are Cuse and BC and root against.....I think UConn got a bad deal and see them graduating in the next move...I see you guys moving up too if you stay the course....Honestly i don't understand the animous towards Temple....I'm not an alum of RU but growing up in Jersey followed their sports esp FB since i was 11 in ''62''.....

Where Vilenova was always our Achilles Heel, they can't do much to us now if our program continues to trend upward. Tables have turned or are on the verge of turning on them. UConn could be the one that truly gets hosed because knowing how BC operates, they'll do everything in their power to block them from an ACC invite. Big 10 could possibly target them somewhere down the road, but they'll have to bring a lot to the table to receive serious consideration.

The animosity between our 2 fan bases I think had a lot to do with us being very close rivals and many TU fans thought it was RU that expedited our ouster from the Big Least. They thought, including me, that as fellow A10 schools, each would look out for one another, but truth be told, Temple University was its own worse enemy. We had a president at the time who caught lightening in a bottle when he hired Coach Chaney who was able to build a program with very little. That president thought you could do the same with football. That was impossible when everyone else in the conference was investing in theirs.

As I've tried to explain to the doubters that think we'll revert to old. Not going to happen. Our president today is a Big 10 man. He was the president of a school in the other division. He knows what this week did for the schools overall perception and he's very pro athletics man. He's been very much the driving force behind getting all of the non rev programs back to Main Campus. If you guys remember from coming to the Liacouras Center for hoops, the old William Penn HS property that sat a few blocks south of the campus was bought by the uni this summer and the complex will open for our soccer, field hockey and track teams in time for the 2016 season. He's very much behind the idea of building a stadium on campus which would go next to old McGonigle Hall. We're building an indoor complex for the team too. Mindset today is way different from 20 years ago. I think Vilenova is well aware that they may very well become an afterthought in Philly if we continue our trend. We'll see. I'm certainly hoping it happens because karma couldn't happen to a nicer group of people on the Mainline.

If you want Rhule. You're a loser just like him
You're either insane or don't know as much about football as you think you do. He's a good coach and frankly despite that loss showed it. Temple far from embarrassed themselves against Notre Dame.
