Game Day @ Independence Hall

You have to also consider that the camera shows back to Independence Hall, but a ton of people are on 5th and 6th, on Market, at the Dow building and visitors center. It's a cool scene. It's going to be sloppy later on tonight, though.
It is cool scene ... do not see too many Irish fans, though.

Seriously man I'm glad you're having fun and please, as much as it pains me to say it, beat the Irish!
still jealous, huh? yeah, crowd sucks ... how come no one is stilling on top of those trees at the upper left and lower right?

Not jealous at all. Glad to see it finally filled up since it was virtually empty at 9AM. Maybe 5k three now.

Show couldn't be done on campus. Too much construction going on there. Mall was the right choice. To those rooting for us tonight, I thank you for the well wishes. To those who aren't, to each it's own. You're never going to own South Jersey anyway.

Lol, okay?

blimp shot = crowd "fail"??? (EDIT: by 11 the crowd showed up and filled in nicely)

(** DISCLAIMER - this was at 9AM not an easy time for a lot of fans to get to that part of Philly...not near campus...not a residential area...barely any free parking...not talking about the "signs" or the "costumes" or the "background," either, just the pure # of fans who were there to open the show...not a "rip" on Temple fans, either...)
Nuts were you drinking early at the Catina today?? [cheers]

Any blimp shot was from much earlier than 9am. The blimp was over the Art Museum most of the morning, I'm guessing covering the Philadelphia Half Marathon.

The place was packed from the start. Obviously tons of Temple fans and a lot of ND fans but saw fans over so many other schools too. Will post pictures soon but Philly did a great job showing up!

Really good showing, just left there. To the guy walking around decked out in RU gear and walking his dog (who was wearing a Rutgers jacket): well done, sir!
Yes That was me and Scarlet. Heard many go RU shout outs there

No, I wasn't, and the blimp shots were live and followed up by shots right in the crowd, which you could tell was incredibly sparse at the time. A couple minutes later they did share the blame, with shots of the half marathon start line, it's not like it's that far away lol....Great job by the fans getting there, as the morning went on, no doubt.

The Blimp was never overhead the whole time I was there. Im guessing that was from earlier as they showed similar shot on Channel 6 news.

Anyway some observations. It was a great location!
ESPN or the National Park Service (Philly doesn't control the land at all) only wanted people on the south end. There was no TV's or sound on the north side of Market Street. Only Market Street was closed. Both 5th and 6th were still open for traffic.
The real winners bedside Philly were the bars in the area. All of them were overflowing!!
If you were there to watch the show you would have been greatly disappointed, this was an event.

not so sure that RU would do well for a gameday, just my opinion

anyhoo I am going to cringe today reading the posts from RU fans rooting for Temple and throwing rose petals at their feet. Nothing good comes of it. Long term yes Temple isn't an issue for RU...short term with this coaching staff and recruiting you bet they are
I also don't understand all the Rutgers fans, including our Associate AD, Kevin Lorincz, openly rooting & expressing happiness for Temple. I'm not happy for them.

We'd have a huge CGD turnout on campus.

Ha ha ha ....STOP RIGHT THERE MY FRIEND...this isn't even close to being one of the biggest crowds ever. He's talking about the crowd at the stadium for the game tonight. They've had 5,7,10,15,000+ fans in the past both in-and-out of stadiums, for GD.

JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE!!

My guess is the stadium will be full of Domer fans. This is basically a home game for them, if they worked a deal like they wanted Rutgers to take at Giants stadium... ND will control half the stadium, at least. Can they still that many of their old timers for a night game? We'll see. And I do hope Temple wins. Why not? Maybe we hire their coach.

that's pretty bad if true, our interests sit in the big boy league now, which means we work toward what the power 5 want at the expense of the little ones

Just stop with the nonsense. We've had huge crowds for all of our big games for years. The students would be out in force as would many others for what would be our biggest & best game day atmosphere on campus. It would be like 2006 UL & 2014 TTFP & UM atmosphere with a huge CGD crowd. Don't sell us short. When we're hot our fans support big time.

A bunch of random people in the Philly area went. Some friends of friends were there, and they have no affiliation to Temple.

Still disagree that this is a "good showing," they've had 7-8,000 fans for the North Dakota State Game Days, but AGREE that RU would have huge support, due to the fact that it would be on campus. Big, big, big difference.
What else is there to do in Fargo during football season? Drill for oil?

Have many people been the Philly? There is no way they can have gameday on campus, Temple is in North Philadelphia, a notorious ghetto. You walk one block off broad street your in the hood, there are safety alerts from the school all the time about muggings and violence (short of like Rutgers newark)....

Plus Independence hall, and Center city is a much nicer area. There is definitely a lot of buzz in the city today about Temple, all the local bars are showing the game and having events, I hope they can pull it off.

Really? Nonsense? You do know the picture I posted was from last year's Penn State game. Rutgers first ever Big Ten game. And the BTN was there live, broadcasting from the Scarlet Walk. And it didn't start at 9am but at 11am. And the Rutgers faithful was so excited to be a part of it all that about 100 people showed up.
Stop with your exaggerations about turnout. Turnout for the Scarlet Walk this season have been extremely underwhelming as well.[/QUOTE]

So doesn't it make more sense to root against ND?
