I'm unable to watch, so hoping folks can post updates as the game goes along.

TIA from all those not there or unable to watch!

FINALLY! We don't kill ourselves at the line at the end of the game.

That's about as good of a backcourt that Rutgers will face....Ponds and Lovett are two good and really fast guards.

What a great game! Couple of observations!

- SJU may be very very good this year - Lovett and Ponds are something else - quick and good defensively
- Rutgers didn’t get many calls in this one - seems like it was pretty neutral, and 1 maybe 2 bad calls against Rutgers
- Rutgers fought and fought in this one - Baker played well considering the opposition
-Doucoure is a monster on boards

Great win - I am excited as $&@% for his season.

P.S.- still need to do better on FTs.

Things I saw:

Possible bad news: Mike Williams went down with what looked like a knee injury early second half. He came back to the bench late but was physically supported by one of the team managers while walking after the game.

We are fast and really push the ball. That's clearly the plan. St. John's guards were ultra-fast, making for good matchups.

Freeman had a great game, rebounded as usual and strong post up moves. Corey played well and Omurayi looks improved, and very tough.

In my view Geo lives up to the hype except for his jump shot. No rotation, he doesn't spin it. Clanked each jumper he took. Otherwise he's going to be very solid. But I don't see him as a Big Ten scorer yet.

Doucoure got in heavy foul trouble and played very little in the second half so couldn't tell much other than he certainly has a Big 10 body.

Great effort all around. The kids seem to take well to Pikiel's coaching.
