Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers Football vs. Penn State

The North end zone is a sea of blue jerseys. All the RU fans have left the stadium there.

How many more points does Franklin want to score ?

Still 6 mins remaining in 3rd quarter.

Also... we really need to see what Wimsett has... good or bad.. the year is lost already. We need to know is he anything to build on, or do you recruit to replace. Either way, the only advantage Wimsett will have is his experience, but he will need to win the job next year. He hasn't shown enough to NOT recruit a new QB, or transfer to compete. Next year, Schiano also knows, it's probably bowl or bust... and can't go into the year with only Wimsett as your#1 (and no.. Simon is only a backup..nothing else)

Wimsatt continues to demonstrate a lack of touch, see the big overthrows on open screen passes. Can fire it in without having to read a D on slants and RPO passes to middle.

Schiano has to bring in a transfer at QB. Injuries alone necessitate this.

Can we all please stop the fire Schiano talk.. he's not going anywhere, anytime soon. There really hasn't been poor coaching today.. it's execution.. A fumble here (Langdon), a pocket fumble (Wimsett), etc. It's almost like what can go wrong will go wrong and at the wrong time to boot!. The team plays hard.. understand that.. This is not Ash level incompetence.

Playing hard isn't a reason to not question coaching. Every team plays hard at this level. It's meathead talk to use that as a rally point. Losers say they play hard.

Execution, low penalties, creative play calling, putting players in position of strength, that is what wins at this level. This game was always mission impossible but this is wheels off the bus losing.

Penn St. is clearly the better team. But they didn't need to be. They watched us beat ourselves. Say what you want but that is coaching. Well coached teams don't beat themselves.

Only at Rutgers could a coach, whose only claim to fame is one highlight win 16 years ago, warrant the fan base rapidly demanding he be rehired.
Exactly. Anyone who spent any time at a company or organization that preaches excellence could have seen that GS was an absolutely abysmal hire. But in Jersey, that insular, nostalgic, short,-sided, parochial mindset is so prevalent that it pervades decision making at Rutgers.

Can we hit the transfer portal for a competent head coach who can develop his players and be competitive occasionally as an underdog?

And then maybe not tell us fan that getting blown out is just the result of a couple of plays going against us?

He's going to put up a number. 60 is my guess.

Nightmare game. Question everything game. Nothing has changed.

Watching this team week in and week out is exasperating. The futility and incompetence is off the charts. Rutgers is the only team that can open the half, complete a 60 yard pass, and the next play PSU is returning a fumble 80 yards for a TD. Even when things go well they don't end well.

These running backs are good for 5 to 8 yards but clearly not home run hitters, zero speed at receiver cause how do they keep getting caught from behind. Greg Schiano is going to have to be more aggressive in recruiting cause bits and peace’s are not going to cut it .

PSU has a very good offensive and defensive line. Late in the game they can run right over RU.

Our QB's need three years to "develop".
Its all part of GSs strategy.. identify, recruit, develop, coach, lose consistently, get endless support from his apologist cult, get paid handsomely by Rutgers despite failure 95% of his career. Rinse and repeat.

Greg’s postgame presser will be pure gold.

He will talk about the process and turning the ball over and Wimsatt's growth.

He will sound removed like a General Manger. Not realizing he's actually in charge of what we see on the field.

He will sell the promise of the future. A future that never comes.

At some point even the most stubborn have to realize they aren't cut out for something.

Actually might be a selling point … won’t be overshadowed by the football team.

Just goes to show when they hire a coach like Chris ash , and you bring in a coach like Schiano who is big on developing young high school kids to come in and fix the mess , you better sit tight for the long haul. He has the talent but not the speed he had the first time around and Rutgers had two bad recruiting coaches in flood and ash before Schiano came back .

Where can you listen?
And it'll be on YouTube so you can see Schiano answering softball questions in his self-righteous way. Whenever a reporter questions a decision by Schiano, he gets defensive and macho like a petulant teenager. Great, intellectual coach we have here. No wonder he's out there killing it as a gameday tactician.

OK … the offense wanted to get Korsak the record … now it’s time to break the 10 point barrier vs PSU.
