Not a great night for RU opponents.

Big Ten

#9 Ohio State 93 Virginia 73 - the result we wanted, I think
#24 Michigan State 81 Detroit 42 - 28 and 10 Jankoska to lead the Spartans
Purdue 56 Maine 33 - 26 baskets on 18 assists for the Boilermakers; not bad
Nebraska 79 Arkansas State 71 - Clark with 22 and Romeo with 20 for the Cornhuskers
West Virginia 75 Indiana 64 - 2 losses in a row for the Hoosiers

Other RU Opponents

#1 Connecticut 86 LSU 40 - as noted elsewhere, Stewart sat this one out
#3 Notre Dame 91 St. Joseph's 55 - 5-point game at the half
#22 Arizona State 68 #10 Florida State 56 - Seminoles led by 1 at the half
Tulane 66 St. Louis 58 - Green Wave won only 3rd quarter, but it was good enough

Other Ranked Teams

#4 Baylor 77 James Madison 63 - a lot closer than I would have guessed
#8 Mississippi State 72 Southern Methodist 70 - a *lot* closer than I would have guessed
#11 Oregon State 80 California Polytechnic 43 - Beavers had 54-27 rebounding edge
Loyola 88 #17 DePaul 75 - huge upset
#25 Missouri 82 Texas State 56 - Tigers are 12-0
#19 UCLA 96 #21 California 96 - going into double OT

Also

Navy 64 Air Force 46 - Falcons are 0-11, awful as usual
Akron 74 Youngstown State 49 - Zips now 6-5, a bit of a comedown from last year
Wyoming 77 Colorado 68 - Cowgirls have won 2 of last 3 meetings

Today:

Big Ten 4-1
Other RU opponents 1-3

Year to date:

Big Ten 107-35
Other RU opponents 71-39

There has been one palindromic score in 61 games completed so far today. That makes 14 palindromic scores in 1,750 games so far this year.

Update:

#21 California 108 #19 UCLA 104 2OT - starting the Pac-12 season with a bang

Loyola 88 #17 DePaul 75 - huge upset
That is a hard one for me to enjoy.
I root for the Ramblers because brother went to Loyola and root for DePaul WBB because Bruno was a friend of my brother and brother supported DePaul WBB when he was alive
Doug attended my brother's funeral and I talked to him a bit, but really didn't talk long or about his program

Loyola is coached by WNBA legend & my favorite all time WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes.

Actually, I think this is one of those "we'll play an OOC game even though we are in the same conference" games. Possibly because the Bay Area schools are only playing the LA schools in LA this year.

For those of you who don't know, the PAC pairs teams (Arizona's, Bay Area, LA, Oregon, Washington and "mountain" (Utah and Colorado)) and you and your pair play the other two (2) teams on the same weekend both either home or away. Cuts down on travel costs, I guess. An 18 game conference schedule always means that there are 2 pairs you only play home or away, the other 3 pairs twice, plus your partner both home and away (4+12+2).

Fascinating. I must admit that I don't see much value in playing a team in your conference outside of the conference season, at least as a general proposition.
