Yes, the Gauchos upset the Trojans (Big West beating Pac 12 is normally considered an upset) - final score 57 to 46.

Was played at UCSB but that is only about 100 miles north of USC

Apparently, USC's 3 best players were out, I don't know why. I'm lazy, so I asked on another message board instead of looking it up.

Update:

UCSB 57 USC 46 - Lane led the Gauchos to the upset with 21 and 12; first loss for the Trojans

The box score does show a limited list of USC players in the game (only 7 played). One of their leading scorers for this season, former RU player now as grad transfer, Aliyah Jeune, did play but did not have a lot of points ( 5 points in 37 min). Looks like the game was won at the free throw line with the Gauchos getting 17 points there (out of 21 attempts) and USC only getting 2 points (out of 8 attempts) from the free throw line.

The USC webpage said that they had four players out with injury and only dressed 8.

BTW, Jeune apparently graduated from Morehead State. She is working on a masters in entrepreneurship at USC.

Go RU!

Thanks for the info. I eventually saw USC notes that said 2 players were out but expected back next game (injury) and 2 players haven't played yet this year - no timeline given.

If anyone cares about the other P5 conferences - the UConn Boneyard has a "sub-board" for other women's basketball where the other conferences are discussed and game threads appear for some of the national games. Fans who post frequently are from Miss State, some Tennessee and South Carolina; Duke and Notre Dame, Baylor and Texas, and a selection of PAC teams including Arizona and Oregon State. Very interesting to read, but the B1G doesn't seem to come up as much.
