Get Les Miles' agent on the horn!

Would never happen, but if it did, and they doubled my ticket prices, I'd be ok with it. I'm guessing almost every season ticket holder would as well.

I doubt they'll fire Miles - they'd be nuts.
They are nuts down there. They have been complaining for years that he just runs the ball into the line the last few years and has no imagination. They complain about QB development too. That part sounds familiar to me.

With his Big 10 pedigree, maybe he'd use RU as a springboard for a return to the conference. I was laughing hysterically as I typed this. At least nobody can knock his commitment to academic excellence and , unlike our fearless leader, doing things the right way when it comes to institutional compliance. I'm still laughing.

Les is having a team meeting this afternoon to specifically discuss the "rumors."

$10M a year HC and staff.... you guys crack me up.

Maryland may have found their coach though....
Naah. Someone will outbid MD for him. The problem for MD is they are still MD. All things being equal they arent as good an option as VT, USC (either), Texas, or maybe even Miami. He certainly isnt coming here though - because in addition to that problem, we also dont have a ton of money.

Especially when you consider how poor Louisiana is and how wealthy NJ is
On average. But you only new a few dozen guys who got rich in the oil business to come up with those funds.

The good news about this is - LSU is likely shoot higher on the scale than we would (obviously). Meanwhile Miles will go to another team closer to RU (MD, USc, VT, Miami). So that likely takes a spot off the table for a guy like Herman who normally wouldnt be on RU's radar without opening another one (because LSU almost surely didnt fire a NC coach in order to hire a guy with one year of HCing under his belt.)

I wouldn't assume a Miles or Richt if he is let go will automatically take another job in the offseason. I could just as easily see them take the year off, do tv or something and then maybe come back.

All my LSU guys saying it's done and they're going after Jimbo Fisher....AD's silence is "golden"...Jimbo says:

"I have no comment. I have a policy I don't speak about jobs." Says "unfair to everyone." "And there is no opening."

FWIW

Fisher, in a presser, just called UF Gator's Treon Harris "Brendon." The latter Harris, Brendon, plays for LSU.

I would double my total athletic department spending/giving from last year if they told me it would get us Les Miles.

Yes. This is the kind of guy the "big boosters" and even us small timers open our wallets for. You want defense and physical play to be your identity? THIS is your guy. Sure we'd still run a boring, sucky offense which will infuriate a lot of people but for those longing for the days of the Schiano D, this would be Greg's D on steroids. And he coaches with a lot of "balls". This fanbase would absolutely love him.

Jimbo would be nuts to go to LSU.

He should go into the President's office at FSU and ask for a $500-750k raise.

Why go to the SEC and battle Saban, when you can stay in the ACC and have the inside track on a play-off spot in 7 of 10 years.

Not that I would say no, but Miles is 62! had no idea, thought he was maybe 8 years younger than that. That actually might make him more attainable. Schools like USCe might be less likely to pull the trigger.

  • Biggest issue with Les Miles tenure at LSU is lack of top-notch QB development and QB play. He'd be right at home at Rutgers.
  • Les Miles turned down job overtures from Michigan.
  • Miles recruiting reach to the south (LA, TX, AL) and midwest would obliterate the notion of a "State of Rutgers".

Yup, it could be just negotiating leverage and it also depends on LSU's offer. He's getting paid around 4M at FSU IIRC.

Saban, Alabama and the rest of the SEC big spenders vs. Clemson, Dabo and the rest of the ACC. FSU isn't chopped liver as a destination obviously so assuming the offers are comparable I know what I would choose but you never know.

Get him another Mike Gundy type as his OC and I think he'd be fine on offense too.

More on Les Mile's contract. He could be owed as little as 11M as opposed to 15M because the buyout supposedly subtracts the current year. Also all the same things that were in Flood's contract are in Miles' with regards to seeking future employment and having that come off LSU's books with whatever salary he gets. No minimum salary he needs to make though. The payments are also stretched out over 8 years.

Kind of sounds like a little PR to make it sound like it's not as bad as it may seem. These are the arguments I've made too with regards to the cost of letting Flood and staff go. It's not a lump sum payment and not as bad as it may seem. Actually though sounds like Paul Rhoads' contract is a lump sum and his 4.5M is owed with in 60 days. Like I've said every contract is different so you never know for sure but I think Flood's and Miles' are more conventional in their structure.
