Mixed feelings today as Flood is gone but so is my girl Julie. I think she definitely will have some culpability in the report findings and that plays a part in what happened today but also a big part here is that she was caught up in the agenda driven behind the scenes mess at RU and didn't have enough power behind her to stay. She was dealt a bad hand with Flood and she almost got rid of him two years ago if the donors weren't so insistent on a guy with prior head coach experience. If she pulled it off then she would still be here today. Julie never got a fair shake from the Pernetti tards at all or the bigotry crowd or the media and while she made some media missteps, I feel they were so minor and blown out proportion by her enemies to push their own agendas.
That's why I supported her so much. The more ridiculous arguments that were used that she was the worst AD in history or that she was a woman or that she only cared about volleyball or Olympic sports the more I was going to back her because until you can come with concrete stuff that she was doing wrong, all the criticism based on Star Ledger dying and Disney experience was just silly. See unlike the Pernetti tards I was going to support her and try to move us out of that Rice mess instead of wallowing. I hated Barchi too but at some point you move on and support the good of the school. So unlike the Pernetti tards, I will support the next AD here and not be bitching about Julie getting fired everyday. She didn't get a fair shake here but it is what it is. I am sorry to see her go but if Rutgers had to do it to move on in this situation then it had to be done.
The caveat to all Rutgers fans is while this helps us move on short term, the fact is the amount of dysfunction within the university is something that has been there for a while and I fear will only get worse as we get the Big 10 money 5 years down the road but that's a topic for another thread
Julie will be a success wherever she heads next, I am pretty confident of that so I wouldn't worry about her finding a job so good luck to her in the future. You helped initiate some much needed changes and shakeup in that athletic department that helped us get up to speed in the Big 10. The increased fundraising and better communication to the fanbse was notable. Under your watch wrestling and womens soccer have burst onto the national scene. The baseball facility got off the ground and you were well liked by your coaches. So thank you Julie for your time here and best of luck with your future endeavors
