Mixed feelings today as Flood is gone but so is my girl Julie. I think she definitely will have some culpability in the report findings and that plays a part in what happened today but also a big part here is that she was caught up in the agenda driven behind the scenes mess at RU and didn't have enough power behind her to stay. She was dealt a bad hand with Flood and she almost got rid of him two years ago if the donors weren't so insistent on a guy with prior head coach experience. If she pulled it off then she would still be here today. Julie never got a fair shake from the Pernetti tards at all or the bigotry crowd or the media and while she made some media missteps, I feel they were so minor and blown out proportion by her enemies to push their own agendas.

That's why I supported her so much. The more ridiculous arguments that were used that she was the worst AD in history or that she was a woman or that she only cared about volleyball or Olympic sports the more I was going to back her because until you can come with concrete stuff that she was doing wrong, all the criticism based on Star Ledger dying and Disney experience was just silly. See unlike the Pernetti tards I was going to support her and try to move us out of that Rice mess instead of wallowing. I hated Barchi too but at some point you move on and support the good of the school. So unlike the Pernetti tards, I will support the next AD here and not be bitching about Julie getting fired everyday. She didn't get a fair shake here but it is what it is. I am sorry to see her go but if Rutgers had to do it to move on in this situation then it had to be done.

The caveat to all Rutgers fans is while this helps us move on short term, the fact is the amount of dysfunction within the university is something that has been there for a while and I fear will only get worse as we get the Big 10 money 5 years down the road but that's a topic for another thread

Julie will be a success wherever she heads next, I am pretty confident of that so I wouldn't worry about her finding a job so good luck to her in the future. You helped initiate some much needed changes and shakeup in that athletic department that helped us get up to speed in the Big 10. The increased fundraising and better communication to the fanbse was notable. Under your watch wrestling and womens soccer have burst onto the national scene. The baseball facility got off the ground and you were well liked by your coaches. So thank you Julie for your time here and best of luck with your future endeavors

you have real problems

This is like someone writing a post-2008 election defense of Sarah Palin. Hermann, like Flood, was an embarrassing flop who will probably never hold the same title at a Power 5 school or even an FBS school again.

No, problems, Herman walked into a mess, got off to a bad start and was handcuffed. Wrong place and wrong time for her. I think she is sharp enough and in the right situation will kick butt. I wish her well.
Delete my reply.

Dude you're the one withthe real fking problem. What's your hard on? Let it go. Please come to the RAC for a basketball game and we can discuss things. But you probably can't get your wrinkly old ass out of bed to travel.

Then Bac, why is Mr television saying it,s a done deal Flood is back.

Hermann walked into a mess but she sure hasnt' helped herself. I am worried that the report will show some really bad things in the AD since she was let go, probably a lack of compliance across muliple issues... from previous rumors...drug testing, recaruitng etc.

She should never have been hired, glad she's gone, finally. Who know what advice she gave Flood on issues.

Time to start fresh.

Jury is still out on her culpability into those items

Clean out the entire AD department. Now that the remaining miscreants smell blood and feel they can control the AD with leaks and rumors, no matter who you pick as the next AD one of them is not going to agree with the selection, want Pernetti back, or will get a boo boo on their feelings and set upon an agenda to get the new AD fired with the help of the SL. Burn it all down and start over.

Keep Luici though.

We just did. I hope we get the right fit this time. And, do you think Flood listened to anyone?

Im not so sure that the report even will come out but I think fear of it coming out helped moved Julie along, Flood wasn't going to go go out without a fight and take more down with him

As I read this and the thread title, I have the "Goodbye Julie" song to "Goodbye Allie" in my head. Remember when the RUhoops crowd sang "Goodbye Louie" to Carnesecca back in the day?

excuses and attacks from the usual aholes and by the way I come to 90% of the ball games traveling 2 hours each way and can beat your ass at anything that requires endurance or brains

I want an AD that has a vision and is outspoken on the future of RU athletics. The AD must work with the coaches and the Admin to make Rutgers athletics the best in the nation.

Now maybe JH was not given the backing to make this happen. If so it is a shame. But Rutgers needed to clean house. Sometimes life is not fair.

Now lets hire an AD and a coach that will make Rutgers football a consistent top 25 program.

face it she was fired for a reason by her biggest protector, other than bac who has no power or real info

Bac- always curious as to the staunch support of Julie. I never met her so had nothing to say other than reports I read. She had a bad start coming in after Rice and having her past brought out. After the rough start I thought she was doing better and moving things in the right direction.
Ignore the haters on the board. Keep on posting, many others appreciate your posts.

Hopefully we get the best qualified AD for RU soon to keep moving forward.

Chess player, eh?

There is only so much he can fight. He should have been canned, ala London.

Don't always agree Bac but this is not one of those times. She may have made mistakes but people were never going to give her a fair shake from the start.

Keep it up sir. I'll argue with you somewhere else down the road.

Rutgers is a mess. That's why you need a proven leader. That wasn't Julie.

Rutgers is not a mess you moron. The football program does not in any way represent the entire ethos of the university. But speaking of sports, go look at how well baseball, soccer and wrestling are doing. Yes, football had problems this year and men's basketball has been relatively putrid, BUT, academically, Rutgers is on the rise, which is THE most important measuring stick about the greatness of any college or university. Julie made catastrophic mistakes showing lack of professionalism and candor on multiple occasions for someone in her position. Maybe the pressure of being the first female AD in Big 10 history caused her to overcompensate with her "bull in the china shop" approach from day one, rather than taking the low key, humble approach, which would have served her well, in my opinion. Instead, she wasn't well received. It really is true that you only have one chance to make a good first impression. She didn't, and that along with her many gaffes resulted in her losing her job. Flood was never a long term solution. Flood is not a Division 1 caliber coach. Anyone who can't see that is just Scarlet blind. I like Flood. I would have him as an assistant coach in a heartbeat. But not a head coach. It's time to bring back Tim Pernetti and Greg Schiano, or Tim Pernetti and a proven Division 1 coach.

GO RUTGERS!

As I've noted in another thread, Rutgers is a sewer position for anyone with big aspirations. Sad, but reflective if NJ.

so I guess one is not allowed to comment about your tear filled post--get over it she was fired for good cause--you must dream of julie at night--yes that's a sad post but only because you even wrote it

BAC, I'm sorry you lost your girl. You were her knight in shining armor.

She was finally overcoming her horrible start on the job. Lets hope everyone is better off in a year's time. Kyle Flood included.

What a load of crap. And for the way you abused and attacked everyone who voiced the simplest criticism of her, you, Bac deserve to have your nose rubbed in this for a long time. From Day One she embarrassed Rutgers publicly and gave it a black eye from which it still hasn't recovered. She repeatedly lied and was caught lying on the record so many times she couldn't even talk directly with reporters. Her botched attempt to replace Flood earlier did nothing more than doom Rutgers' recruiting for the remainder of Flood's tenure. Then to correct it she gave him an extension which made his eventual termination even more expensive. Two separate prior instances of horrible judgment on her part should have gotten her the door to begin with. Even after those were ignored by the administration she next claimed to speak to an athletes' parent and then couldn't say for sure who she spoke to. We had to listen to an outside minister come in and "mediate" between her and the parents. She even screwed up a no-brainer like having Eric LeGrand as a commencement speaker. Even now there are further questions as to whether she screwed up oversight of the athletic department's drug testing program, possibly exposing Rutgers to NCAA sanctions.

Yeah she was "your girl" alright, that was always clear. But the way you accused anyone who disagreed with anything she did as being a misogynist or a homophobe was disgusting. Your thinly disguised excuses in this thread continue the same, as you like to say, "agenda driven" prattle that you've spewed for the last two years. Thankfully Rutgers has moved on from this nightmare. Whether you ever will is open to question.

We all need to practice civility. Less name calling and more humor, assholes.
