He’s obviously not the answer for our football program. but we’re stuck with him due to his contract…

But he’s beloved by alumni and boosters and our leadership…maybe move him to AD??

But if we’re stuck with him regardless..I’d rather that then him continuing to run the team

He would run the team as coach or AD. He u get rid of him have to make a clean break. Don’t think the new coach would want him around looking 👀 over their shoulder

This what coach would come here with Greg as AD

Way too many question marks for me. Greg is a football meathead. Will he really care about the entire AD? Also, what kind of football HC would he hire? Probably one with his own philosophy given his stubbornness.
He'd make Pike run 4 corners offense until a second left on shot clock, have him call timeout, and then have 1 guy take a shot while the other 4 run back to play defense.

Gregg would have no interest. When he gave his little little rah rah speech at halftime of the Rutgers—Seton Hall basketball game in December 19, he couldn’t even be bothered to say go RU or wish the basketball team well.

He would have less than zero interest in dealing with field hockey, tennis and golf coaches.

Great idea and then he could hire.

A FB coach who will coach winning teams at. RU

While he would probably be great at overseeing day to day operations, contract negotiations, media, etc. I think most of the coaching hires would probably be questionable if we extrapolate based on some of the assistants he has hired.

Before Julie Herman cut in line, Rutgers was seriously looking at Sean Frazier, the assitant AD at Wisconsin. Frazier eventually became the AD at Southern Illinois (last heard of beating Notre Dame this season). He's been the AD since 2013.

Have brought up his name in many threads. Have been told that he was just extended at NIU and has a buyout. IIRC, his salary is "only" in the $300'sK range. Hobbs was making north of $1M. But if I were Sean, I'd give a hard pass to Rutgers. Despite offering more money, his wife is an attorney in Illinois, and he is revered at NIU. Sometimes more money is not worth it. If you are comfortable and settled, chasing money can often end in unhappiness. Rutgers is a hard place to succeed. Actually, Hobbs was a pleasant surprise until his sudden resignation.

Greg would make a great AD imho but his ego would never allow such a move

We're sick and full of shyt?? Some of us look at results on the field during the last several years and wonder why GS is put on a high pedestal. Yes, he rescued us from Ash and Flood: kudos to him. Since then we can pretty much call the plays before the ball is even snapped. But call me full of shyt.

What a stupid post. We lose games to three teams who all had better talent than we had to begin with. Then we lose half our defense to injury. And people on this board are all chasing him with pitch forks. Most of these posters can't be true Rutgers fans or maybe it's just contaminated drinking water in NJ with hate juice.
Man, I'm just as disappointed with the losses as everyone but I'm not jumping off the ship over it.

Why would he though. Don't they both compete for the same funding from the athletics department?

I’d rather see us hire an AD who is going to make Greg uncomfortable. Require a change in OC & offensive mindset, push GS to adjust his conservative philosophy, etc.

Whether our BOG is willing to do that is another thing.
We just changed the OC. We pass more than ever. We go for it on 4th down. We go for it inside the 40.

The problem is one of depth. We are one deep at nearly every position. That’s the biggest issue, and that’s more of an NIL problem than a Greg Schiano one, IMO.

It used to be we could find and develop diamonds in the rough. Now those kids leave for NIL before we can put together a critical mass necessary for a special season.

Put another way: I’ll bet Greg would be jockeying for a playoff spot with FSU’s roster.

Fallacy. His philosophy is the reason we can’t get a talented roster. GS is a one-man offense killer. Kids with other options go where they can shine. Remind me, which other schools were interested in AK?

If your argument is that we would get significantly better talent with a different offense, we can disagree.

I think I place more weight on NIL and the lack of overall football culture (support, facilities, fanbase, tradition, etc.) than you do when it comes to recruiting.

Just look at the basketball program: I highly doubt it was Pike’s offense that drew in the the most highly regarded incoming class in school history…
