I would love to see OP's idea of pass over middle to TE as I expect Iowa to be very aggressive on first down, especially if we get the ball first.

I disagree. With the upgrade in this year's Oline, I think that we will only lose 2 yards. 2nd and 12!
Your mistake is the phrase "over the middle." Gleeson doesn't know where that is.

I'm looking at it a little different. On Rutgers first first down, handoff up middle for 2 yards. On second first down, fake handoff up middle then Simon hits Youngblood crossing over the middle for a big gain.
Johnny Langan lines up at QB, with Monangui on one side of him and Salaam on the other. Iowa has no idea who is going to run the ball. Langan drops back and throws a 70 yard touchdown to Cruickshank.

That's what I said. You can't fumble forwards, but ok to fumble backwards behind the LOS
