Halftime honoring of the 2016 team

When did Meekins speak? I saw Tucker and Foster. Bad job by RU on this one, cut the band's rendition of Annie short and give the team it's due .

On a positive, that was one hell of a team!

at least that team can see how far we've fallen.

From beating the #3 team in the land to struggling to beat a crappy Indiana team that was handing the game to us. Pathetic...

Very little. Horrible , only Meekins was introduced, he spoke for 15 seconds and it was over.
Meekins did not speak.

Shawn Tucker spoke and the Eric Foster spoke. Played a short video with highlights from 2006.

No Ray Rice.

My mistake , meant Foster. It still was pretty lame. They should named everyone who showed up, and had their faces on the scoreboard , at least in the pre game if not enough time at the half. Best team since 1978 and they got the bums rush.

I said it then and I'll say it now. Never underestimate the ability of the ability of ru to eff up worse any opportunity they have to eff up. Very very disappointed with this today. If you're going to make a big deal about it then make a big deal about it. How would you have liked to have seen the knights in the NFL replaced by a play or plays made by THOSE knights in the NFL. Then the halftime thing was just disgraceful. How bout next week they do a 2006 section 104 reunion and we just go out on the field and raise our hands. Smh

I agree that it was too short & very poorly done but I'm not surprised after how they butchered the horse video & player entrance.

it was very poorly done and as you said par for the course this year in game day promos and videos. They have been an epic failure at generating excitement and getting crowd engagement

On another note THANK GOD TIM SMITH IS LEAVING.....Gloria Estefan "Get On Your Feet"...you have to be ****ing kidding me

Have the band come onto the field. Stay on the field while each player introduced who gave their time to attend. Play Bells Must ring. Pretty simple. No need for wool to be on the field. They had their time weeks ago.

The university occasionally asks for suggestions, like after the stripe out game..... I gave them my two cents about both the horse video and player entrance...

I would think a number of fans mentioned that both needed to be improved, and I would have bet money and won that they would do nothing to improve either...

The "honoring" of the 2006 is the same rushed, little thought out, get it over with approach as the new horse video appears to be.

If I was a member of the 06 team that came from a distance to be here today, I would have thought " why did I bother?" Afterwards.

If I am planning...jerseys for each player, announcement to run out with, a honory message to all that couldn't make it and the Tucker and Foster....you could also see that Foster wanted to do the locker room chant too.
Maybe they'll get it right for the 20th...

The Fan Advisory board or some on it told the athletics dept to bring back the horse video after week 1 & was given the Heisman. Sad. We killed a good intro.

This has bugged me since game one..... I would just like to know the reasoning for the decision to first just about eliminate it and then not listen to the fans....

I get that the program is far behind others. I get that we don't have as much money as others. Ive heard all the reasons for decades and get all of that.

But something like this is so easy to do right and doesn't cost any money.

Honoring the 2006 season and its players.... literally the one thing we can all get behind.

Especially during a 2-6 (now 2-7) season. Give the fans something they can smile about. Encourage hope. It's a no-brainer.

Me too. I don't get it.

When you have no history of success it is tough to know how to run a party.
The New York Rangers are not exactly known for their winning ways but they know how to do things first class. Who would be the best person to talk to about this debacle today. Very disappointing. ..

Said this above but I'm still ticked off by this mess.

Someone needs to be held accountable for that butchered 10th anniversary. Did we really need the "Jersey Boys" halftime show and junior dance team today?

It's pretty simple , 2006 highlight reel, camera to tunnel ( intro some smoke) ... announce individual players one by one onto the field. Line up on field , final crowd acknowledgment.

I can't argue with anything said in this thread. They just jammed it in as the last of 4 halftime events which included not one but two junior dance teams! Cmon the 2006 team deserves better than that! I didn't even hear them announce Tucker as the first speaker. Foster was fine and seem to ask for patience but the presence of Tucker and Foster reminded me of Schiano's success in leveraging his stint at Miami into recruiting in Florida.

You can feel the 2006 guys aren't very connected to the program anymore. Foster said something along the lines of "For us, the mantra was 'Keep Chopping' and today it's...well, we don't know what it is, but don't give up on this team!"

Sad.

RU acknowledged this by just having them all in a big cluster at midfield & not announce who was there. It was just "Let's hear it again for the Rutgers Junior Knights Dance Team. Oh, and this happened 10 years ago. Big round of applause for the best RU football team in decades."

I can't disagree with anything said here. It was disgraceful. Brian Leonard was holding a sword but seemed not to know when he should use it. No one announced. For a team that was the highlight of the Rutgers program they deserved better.

89, The Rangers have had at least some success on a championship level. We haven't . When you learn how ro win you learn how-to pay tribute to that siccess.

Wasn't gonna say anything but I attended and didn't even know the GREAT 2006 team was bring honored. I think I saw Leonard at midfield, though.

Also re Rice (unless he decided not to attend) a part of me really thinks he should have been honored. Rice single handedly put RU on the map for many and was as key a part of the team (ranked higher than any other team) as any.

I think if Rutgers/Rice were smart to begin with Rice should have issued a Rutgers specific apology on the scoreboard/newspapers/Scarletknights.com right from the start.

At a minimum I think they should have called Rice's name then tell the truth why Rice wasn't there. Then perhaps have Rice issue a video board apology and let people what he has done to change his life. There have murderers who have studied for the LSAT and gained acceptance into law school while still in jail. Ray served his sentence (frankly he has a lifetime ban unless a team picks him up)-he shouldn't be penalized forever (at least at Rutgers BEFORE his terrible transgression in the NFL).

2006 team best ever, no Rice no Teel etc, odd. Crap halftime tribute.
