have I told you lately how much I want Mathis to RU???

Future looks bright! Best of luck to MATHIS. Having a high character will take you far!

I am sure I will post this elsewhere, also.

Mathis reminds me a little like Eli Carter: College-ready body, strong to the basket, natural scorer, SOME (but not sniper) 3-point shooting ability, athletic "enough.". He looks to be a little bit taller than Carter, though.

Sorry Jellyman but Mathis is a completely different player than Eli. Eli was a "chucker" kinda like Ricky Shields. For Mathis, think an upgraded bigger version of Mike Williams (the version of Mike we saw last year). 35% shooter from 3, more of a rim attacking guard for his offense, tough physical rebounder and stout defender (where he differs most from Mike).

Hopefully he doesn't smile on the court if we're getting taken behind the woodshed either.

Jelly

Only part of his game, but the way Mathis uses his upper body to bully up the shot on the drive reminds me off Tom savage a lot

Yes, Tom Savage was first team all state for Ewing High School. I think as I recall that he chose Virginia Tech but he transferred to RU. One year he averaged over 20 ppg for RU and had a couple of great years for us. I might be wrong but I think he had some academic problems and missed part of his last season.

Correct....

I am comparing one part of his game to savage, how he uses his upper body on bullying his guys to the basketball. Nothing else

Tom shot 80 for 170 from three in Wenzel's first year with the a-10 title and NCAA bid at the small forward spot.

Savage's first year, he was the man. His second year Hughes and Duncan took over the team. I remember seeing Tom upset many times when he did not get the ball.
