My girlfriend and I were reflecting on this season tonight and we both said the same thing. There really was not a single time where we were able to get excited about anything all year. Not one play, not one series, much less the prospect of winning a big game. To be fair, we both missed the MSU game, my first since '03. Even so, the only time we could conjure up was JG's punt return TD against WSU that gave us the lead. And that excitement only lasted about 3 minutes of real time before impending gut punch. My question is: what were the high points of this season for you all?

Taking my son to the Kansas game. Other than that, this season is a complete and utter throwaway for me. There is supposed to be some joy and fun and following your team and school; this season and team was about as enjoyable as getting your eyelid stuck in a mouse trap. The defense stunk to high heaven, the offense used the same cologne as the defense, the team got visibly worse as the season wore on, and our staff was abysmal. Since I don't sit on any awards committees I don't care about individual performances in terms of, "yeah, we were complete crap but Player A was all-conference!!! That makes everything great!!!!"

I already look at this year the same way I look at our past WTF games- with disgust and disdain. No leadership from the top down and it showed by our team's play and conduct on and off the field- undisciplined, mistake-prone, listless and zero accountability. This season was over before it started and we couldn't go more than a week without embarrassing ourselves. I can't think of many P5 schools that would tolerate the abomination we saw on and off the field this year.

I'd have to go with Michigan State, even though we lost. Says a lot doesn't it?

Traveling to Michigan and seeing how to run a program the right way.....and meeting and speaking with the traveling Rutgers fans as well as the Michigan fans. As far as on field performance there really weren't many highlights but Grants return at the Big House ranks up there.
