Hodge Fan Voting Is Open

Messinbrink for me. He had the best year. He was going to win a championship from day 1.

Starocci had the best career but the award is not a career award.

Wyatt had a great final but he really was not even in consideration until that match.

Silly to choose Wyatt although the finale was fantastic!
It’s obviously 1 of the other 2.
After reading the criteria, I changed my mind. I was going to vote for the guy I most root against, then looked at the statistics they provided on each candidate. Understanding that it's a season award and not a career one, and the statistics, I went with another.

He wasn't in consideration because NOBODY thought he'd have a chance to take out Kerk and or Gable..

I know it's not a career award but it's Starocci for me...we see how hard it is for even the best (Gable) to win on this level every time...for someone to do it 5x is insane

I’m voting Mesenbrink too. He was the most dominant all season. Listening to his interviews was inspirational too.. results come secondary to him his main focus is to keep mastering his craft.

The case for Cstar would be he had tougher competition and Wyatt yeah that finals match… can’t go wrong with any of the three choices tbh… maybe they will do a dual hodge winner like they did that year.

Should be Mess but Wyatt would be such a cool thing to do.

Most of the regular posters on here know a hell of a lot more about wrestling than I do, but I tried to carefully review the statistics on the fan vote page. Things like number of pins, record against NCAA qualifiers, record against all-americans, record against former national champs, etc. I realize they are just statistics, but, looking at just this year, those statistics did offer support to the guy who provided me with one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had watching a wrestling match on TV. Plus, two of the guys are Nittany Lions 🙂 I voted for Wyatt.

Exactly. Given that it's a season award, Wyatt's record was as good as or better, depending on which criterion you compare.
