I was excited until I saw Purdue projected #3 and Penn State projected #23

The Big Ten will not be as strong as his rankings think. So drop every B1G team down a little bit.

This adds up to about 74 points per game.

Unless you think Pike is going "small" a majority of the time, yes it is crazy.

Myles averaged more than 15 mpg last year, and now with Doorson having graduated, Myles will be our primary Center. I can't see him averaging less than 22-24 mpg.

Once conference play started in earnest, he averaged 19.2 mpg. Over his last 6 games, he averaged 21.2 mpg. Really can't see him getting less than 20 min next year, especially with Doorson gone.

Yes. Our team was different last season after the Maryland game (I think). I remember posting that we needed to start playing the youngins more and that Kiss and Issa needed to give up minutes and play a reserve role (others posted this also). And Pike saw what we saw, and the season turned around. In fact, I would like to see our individual and team stats up to and including the MD game vs after the MD game.

Knight and Day, as they say.

Up to and including Maryland vs. high majors we scored 0.927 points per possession (6 game sample). We allowed 1.06 in this span.

After Maryland, we scored 0.983 points per possession (18 game sample). We allowed 1.05 in this span.

Definitely a significant difference in the offense while the defense was basically the same.

In a 65 possession game, it's an average score differential of 69-60 early in the year and then 68-64 later in the year.

While there are flaws in the methodology I do not find it a stretch for us to finish ahead of Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern and Nebraska. I also do not find 18-12/10-10 to be that much of a stretch. I think we are going to be pretty good in '19-'20,

Just my $0.02

I think Pike is going small.

I like Myles and what he did as a center. It comes down to the rule of 200. Does everyone play 23 minutes or are 2 perimeter players left out of the rotation.

What lineup is best......
1. Baker
2. Young
3. Montez
4. Harper
5. Eugene

OR
1. Baker
2. Montez
3. Harper
4. Eugene
5. Myles

Do we want Myles playing 24 and Caleb 8 OR Myles 16 and Caleb 16?

If we play a traditional center AND Myles, Shaq and Duke take 40 you are left 160.

Baker Young Mulcahy Montez Caleb Harper Yeboah Eugene are 8 (Kiss is 9)

Does everyone play 20?

Sometimes it comes down to are the most skilled players? Some nights Myles may be the 10th most important on the team. Some nights he may be in the top 5. the majority of the games I think allocating minutes to smalls give us best chance of winning.

RUHoops correctly said last year when Eugene went down we did NOT go small so I understand I can be wrong here.

Gettys, Sa, Dououre, Myles, Carter. Offers out to Omuryuri, Patterson, Holmgren, Bediako, etc. What in the way he recruits or has played over the past three seasons leads you to believe we will go small? As you know I just don't see it.

Our best lineup:

Young (or Mathis if Geo stays at PG)
Baker
Harper
Eugene
Myles

It's exciting to have so many lineup possibilities.

I think we're going to go with the hot hand and match ups. Pike can exploit whatever weakness our opponent has.

Our major weakness in the past few years was when we played a high scoring team. We'd have a hard time scoring enough. We typically did better against the slower teams.

Hopefully, we finally have enough scorers to play with a Maryland or Purdue.

Even if Pike goes small a lot and only plays 20mpg with a 5 then Myles should be getting all 20 of those minutes. If he plays EO at 5 a lot then that takes the minutes more from Carter/Doucoure who will be almost out of the rotation in that scenario IMO

I would sign up for a number 37 net ranking in a heart beat and the 10 seed that likely comes with it

Numbers I found interesting:
South Carolina 102
Seton Hall 27
Illinois 17 wow
Iowa 46
Indiana 57
Minnesota 40

Sometimes you dont even believe what you're arguing. Whatever... I look forward to next year

How many NCAA teams have only 3 players on the court that can make a 3? I suppose Eugene is debatable and he would be a 4th.

I like Myles a lot. He is a center. We have a TON of skilled players that can put the ball in the basket that will be sitting when Myles is on the court.

Now Myles is an excellent offensive rebounder which can be a very valuable part of an efficient offense.

Bottom line....if we are healthy and our newcomers are B1G ready Pike will have a ton of available combinations.

3 players only to make 3's? lets count them.

Gio
Harper
Jacob Young (haven't seen him at rutgers, but at Texas made them)
New kid from Stony Brook
Caleb

Thats 5 without counting Eugene

I am talking about a lineup with Eugene at 4 and Myles at 5....not the entire team.

I want 4 of our many three point shooters on the floor most of the time
