Derrr Haha. No better place to find short sighted idiots than a sports message board.
It's true though. Laviano throws a TD it sucked. Rettig gets saxked its the RB and the LT and the refs fault. Its so weird. Same as political fanatics.
He never got sacked, he managed to get a pass away -- weak, but away. Laviano, meanwhile, finds a way to get sacked DEEP despite his superior mobility.
Nobody is saying Rettig is a God. People are saying why hasn't he gotten a chance to see the field when we've suffered through some blow outs and plenty of periods when the offense has clearly stalled. If EVERY OTHER TEAM can switch the QB in the hopes of getting a spark and possibly changing the outcome of the game, why can't Rutgers?
It's possible Rettig will look great, possible he'll look average, and possible he'll look awful. Guess what? We need to SEE how he'll do. Laviano may excel in practice but that doesn't mean he's a brilliant QB. He's improved from the start of the season in many ways, but still doesn't provide any confidence that he can convert a third down that's greater than 5 yards. I think the TV showed a stat in which RU was next to last of the P5 teams in doing so. That's BECAUSE of a weak arm. And whether or not you like Rettig, it's pretty obvious he has a stronger arm. Maybe he won't get you a 70% completion rate (although that should be going down quite a bit) but maybe he will.
And what if he does look like the real deal? Wouldn't every fan want the best player playing the most important position?
