How many Big 10 games do you predict Rutgers will win this season?

I was hopeful for 5-7 but we lost a couple we should have won already.

At this point I am thinking 2-3 may be all we get. We seem to lack the talent with the top half of the B10 and experience / depth with the bottom half.

I still think we get 2-3 games because in hoops all it takes is for 2 players to get really hot while the other team is flat. I remember days when Douby carried the team on his back with 30 foot 3 pointers to win games. If we get a game with Williams and Sanders being hot from 3 and each getting 20 points while the other team is missing shots we can easily pull out 2-3 games. Gettys seems to struggle with put backs but if he has a big game where he gets his offensive rebounds and scores on 70% of his put backs he will pass 20 points and lead us to a win also.

If you want to look at an analysis 2 weeks ago that was certainly more upbeat than now you would say 1 win and a small fraction gets chopped off the total by being 0-4.

Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois are all toss ups at home.
Northwestern, Minnesota, michigan, @PSU and Maryland are all 1/3 probability games

I'll take 3 from the above.

@Indiana, Wisc MSG, @MD, @OSU, @PUR, @NW

I'll take 1 super upset

Give me 4 in total.

We are 0-6 against real competition. However 5 of those games were on the road. The 1 home loss I think (I hope) we had a 2 standard deviation bad offensive game (a D-/F+ game). The key, in my mind, is a continuation of solid D. Did anyone think Iowa would be kept under 70? The game was 72 possessions so it wasn't exactly a grind it out low tempo game.

We need to get the first one to get over the hump. Maybe a 9PM game on Thursday will get us going. I still think we can win 3 or 4 but am hoping for 5. None of the games will be easy but we need to get the first to break the mental barrier.

A pessimist would look at things and say. We are 11-0 when scoring over a point per possession and 0-6 when scoring less than a point per possession. other than MSU we haven't been close to a point per possession in the 6 real games.

miami 61 in 69
shu 61 in 76
wisc 52 in 64
PSU 47 in 72 :weary:
MSU 65 in 72
Iowa 62 in 73

Good news only 3 teams have kept Iowa under 1 point possession...Virginia, Purdue and Rutgers!
Michigan State gave up 72 points in 74 possessions to PSU. PSU scored 60 in 72 vs us

the game i am still upset about 93 in 72 possessions:alien: [sick]. Pike should have banned them from Tillet after that one.

Last 3 games NW...63,65 and 60 possessions. This game may be too slow for even us.

I know we could care less about NW.....but this game is absolutely crucial for them. Beating NEB and RU back to back on the road pushes them towards the this year is different category.

NW finishes @ILL, @Ind, MICH, PUR, B1G tourney. they need to accumulate as many wins now so they don't need 4 of these games.

Northwestern is winnable although I wouldnt count on it, they are very good and well coached but can go through dry spells on offense, if they are off, RU could sneak this one. They are coming off a big road win at Nebraska

Illinois would appear to be our next best shot at a win. Not a great road team, improved from last year but by how much, this game is late in the year so its going to be interesting to see how losing takes its toll on either school

at Penn State is winnable because i just do not think they are all that good and more importantly consistent enough

at Ohio State is winnable because they have already proven they are vulnerable if they do not come to play

Nebraska is winnable because they are going to be up and down all year and we could catch them on a down cycle.

Michigan is winnable because they are just so so in the talent department and if they arent hitting threes, RU can be right with them

Iowa is winnable because we just saw RU play them toe to toe and actually control play for a good portion. Unfortunately I do not think Iowa will play as poorly as they did next time.

The other games I do not see as winnable....Maryland no way, Wisky at MSG nope, Minnesota nope and all the other road games we will be overmatched in given the venues

I hope for 2 with the shot at most of 3.....Illinois and Michigan are my guesses

2. Iowa at home and one other.

I agree Iowa will play better than they did but I think revenge gets us a two point win.

2 to 3 at most is about right. Moving in right direction, but still lacking some key pieces to win the close ones.

0 just like football, soccer, swimming and women's volleyball

1.

Not an indictment of Pikiell and the staff. Need to find a post grad transfer who can shoot and find a new home for a couple players at a level more appropriate to their, uh, skills.
