How many tix are you renewing next year?

We're actually going from 8 to 10 next year. Our group thrives during adversity. Really we just throw a great tailgate and spare no expense on the food and beverages. Our one rule everything has to be homemade even potato salad. We always bring some newbies each year and they get sucked in we know how to have a good time. A good product on the field would be a bonus however. And has held us back from getting even bigger. We could probably be up to 20 by now if we we're good.

Sounds like there's no coaching or assisting dads and no kids playing organized sports in that group.
When the tail gate is more of a focus than the game, you know your program is shite

Here's the problem for me in all this. I literally don't care right now. I haven't read one article this week about the game, I haven't looked at my calendar to see if I have any conflicts saturday at 330, I haven't watched one post practice report, and I didn't even bother looking at the status of their QB. I look forward to football season all year and from late August it's just been one disappointment after another.

I have felt this way all season. When our entire secondary got arrested and I found out our starting QB and star WR skipped curfew to grab a few pints at Old Queens Tavern in mid-August, I knew this season was over.

I have probably stood up to make noise on maybe a dozen third down plays this entire year.

I don't even know what time the game is this week.

Edit: As for my donation, I have been doing this the past 2-3 seasons based on how I feel with the program. I have kept increasing it but it's gone to other sports. Proud to say I was one of the donors for the baseball/softball practice facility last year.

Actually Zappa your right, guys in our group who did coach no longer do. One at Livingston, one at Ocean, one at Haddonfeild. Couldn't take the parents anymore why's my Johnny not playing. As for kids most in college, others play sports but not in the fall, some had none. As for the wives they all are there, all football converts. They have no choice but to watch RU football. LOL Only time we get to see each other through out the year so me make it special for six weekends(we don't go to FCS game donate tickets hate glorified scrimmage games). What are you going to do we suck might as well make the best of it. But we'll keep going until I lose my sanity since I'm the organizer. Got ten lost souls to travel with me to Army as well.

NewThanks for the responses thus far.

On average those that gave ticket numbers have 5 tickets. We had a total of 24 responses, with four of those saying they will renew all of them without specific numbers. I will assume each of those have 5 tickets given that's the average of the other 20 responses.

Total tickets this year =115, renewed or added tickets = 87. Ticket base -24%.

This is a small sample size but is about what I thought the renewal could go to next year. If our current holder base is 30k (going off of memory), that would mean it goes to 22k next season.

What does the 8k ticket drop mean in terms of revenue?

Let's say average ticket price of $50 X 7 games = $350 + $30 donation = 380/seat. Add $10 for parking (one pass per every 3 ticks on avg) and $8 per seat on consessions = $380 + (10+8)x7 = $506 per seat per ticket. $506 X 8k seats = $4mm.

Yes that has a ton of assumptions but my best guess.
That is a real small sample size but the numbers make a lot of sense. Since it is polling people vested enough to post on a message board, it is probably giving the extreme end of dissatisfaction.

However, it fits that the actual number of season ticket holders will be some number between the current level and a drop to 22,000, because 22,000 matches the number of us that were crazy enough to buy tickets even when RU was playing teams like UConn and USF.

3 to zero

Will cancel all parking

Will cancel all athletic AND academic donations as I will not support an academic institution that treats grade changes like nothing.

And will not pay the $5 tickets will be going for in the lots either.

But will feel destroyed when a TTFP majority crowd goes nuts when its leads by 30 at half.

Barchi doesn't give a s*it and the BOG cares even less about this thread.

Oh yes they do. That will be a lot of money.

Everyone in this thread except "the rah rah pay hundreds of dollars to do what I do in my backyard and watch schools that care steamroll my alma mater" needs to email JH, Barchi, and the BOG and tell them how keeping Flood will not help decrease the subsidy as revenues will plummet.

Renewing all 10 of mine and my 3 yellow passes...this is a long term investment and the only time I get together with all of my college friends at once. i also get to invite others to attend which makes it fun. It is just a huge investment on my end when I see the school is not doing the same to hold up their end of the bargain. For me, it is more about the friends and tailgating more than the games at this point. VK makes a great point that since August it has been a downward spiral...

I think we need to make a change just to instill confidence back in the fans and not let apathy set in. Based on above #s if we lost 8k tickets potentially(I think everyone is acting off emotion right now so I don't see it), but that $4mm figure equates to a top notch coaching staff. How could we potentially inrease from 30k to 38k to go the other way to pay for that staff???

Dude, if that was a dig at me then FU. I'll do whatever I like with my money. You want to sit in your back yard that's your choice. I don't like the coaching situation and have stated so plenty of times. But just because I can afford to go to games and don't want to sit on my farm everyday doesn't give you the right to bust my balls. You want to sit home fine, I like to get out. If it was not directed at me then I'm sorry.

No it is directed at people saying it makes no difference is Flood is HC. I am going to Michigan this weekend, and at this point it has little to do with the abortion scheduled for 3:30. However, that does not mean that I don't take winning seriously. Plane tickets are cheap. If Flood is back I will redirect my funds to see friends that way.

Have two and will probably keep them. I have a feeling that I'll have a VERY good chance to move my seats to better location next season!

I'll probably keep the same number of tickets, but continue to dump most of them into the secondary market.

My long term investment is going on 35 years now...If Flood returns I go to zero.
I'm with VK, when reading about upcoming games, injuries, the opponents injury reports, what the opponents coach is saying about us, what our coach is saying about us no longer interests me, it's time to get out.
I started as a frosh at South Brunswick HS in 1974(sat near the hill by the cannon) . That is 41 years. Every home game x a few since a frosh at RU in 1977. Maybe 5 or 6 games missed between 1977 and 2014. I did not go to OSU and I am 90% likely to miss Nebraska. I just have no interest in this program with this staff right now. I'm sorry (although still traveling to West Point). My tix are for sale on the exchange.

So that makes 25% of my missed home games over 37 years THIS season. Way to go RU. You've beaten me into submission. (yeah I know "I am no fan and I have no loyalty")

Have 12 will stick with 12. I love football, love Rutgers football, love tailgating, love Jersey pride and love having fun with my fellow RU fans. I'm riding this thing out. Go RU baby!

For me, it is not about a coach. It is about my alma mater and loyalty. And so I'll continue to support the FB program as an extension of my bond to the university. I'll renew my season tickets and will donate to the FB program, and to academics. Sol Iustitiae Illustra Nos.

That is great. (and I mean that) ..but the issue is you can do all that without being a season tix holder. A few years ago there was a general feeling of "you gotta be in"......now that is far from the case.

LOL - somebody has a financial inferiority complex.

First of all, it's thousands, not hundreds if you're getting multiple tickets with decent seats and parking. Second, did you ever consider how your highly negative attitude might correlate with your apparent inability to consider tickets/parking costs insignificant enough to not give a second thought? [winking]

With all due respect to the OP, and others in this thread, MIGHT this be a little too early to be asking this question?

1> Suppose XXXX decides to become the HC?
2> Suppose 4 of the home games are against pre-season top15 teams?
3> Suppose ticket prices drop for returning season ticket holders only (this one I know is under
consideration) ?
4> Suppose......

Point is that so much will change between now and MArch, I think this question is
premature, no? But maybe this is what message boards are all about, #respect.

Good points, Steve.

This is an excellent summary of how I feel. When the Nebraska game time came out I can make the game. I couldn't have made it if it was noon. And I'll go but honestly I didn't even care that I could go.

I'm not happy, but can't wait for the next home game. RU in IM. (Are you in? I am). Our group of 8 all enjoy game day. Only two more home games until next September. I hope the right decision is made, if not, I still will support the players 100% and get my ass to the game.

Where do you sit, may want those

have 13....would probably go down as many as 4

donation...not sure yet but suspect it would also go down some

I agree with multiple posts above which stated their level of interest was way down...

Most likely going from 3 to 2, getting rid of parking and only donating the minimum if Flood stays.

I am almost as tired of the parking garbage as I am of Flood.

Have 14 now and will likely go to 16, as people who come to the games with us as guests tend to have a great time tailgating and even in the games. Donation will simply be a function of the # of tickets in 224, which requires seat donations - we're comfortably in yellow, so likely no reason to go much beyond the current donation, especially since my company won't match athletic donations. This means that once I reach enough for the parking passes, my additional donations are academic in nature, maximizing the donation, via the company match.

All of this is independent of who the coach is. Wanted Flood fired 2 years ago and again, upon hearing the details of email-gate (not to mention the loss of discipline on the team), but maybe it's because I'm a 3-time alum, but I dont want to do anything to hurt the program, so I'll continue to support the program and let my dissatisfaction be known in other ways. I also have the long view on this and am hopeful that things will get better as the B1G $$ starts rolling in.

This is a good post to send to
Bob barchi

If scarlet nation people, the strongest diehards, talk 10-20 cut back...what will the mile manner fan do?

Prediction
Coaching change will keep season tickets flat ...especially if it is Greg or someone we are excited about

Keep flood...lose 3 to 5 million in revenue next year and mkre the next

You invest the money now in a coach...you keep even and maybe grow revenue in years 2 and 3

Even the BOG and barchi understands this

If there is ever a time to speak load and strong...it is now. Out voice carries enough collective dollars to merit good change and not a change done on the cheap

I'm pretty sure that season tix sales will increase again for next year. And that donations will increase too. Regardless of what some of our posters say they're going to do.

Also, for some here, you can call me extremely skeptical that they won't be back again. Won't mention any names now, so as to avoid the pointless argument. But this thread will be available next year so it will be fun to revisit. [winking]

If Flood goes I'm staying, if he stays you won't need mine, you'll be able to sit anywhere you want.

Flood may also win out and win 7 games, then I reserve the right to change my opinion.

Wow, zappaa, I have agreed with everything you have said on your posts on this thread EXCEPT your last sentence; I just don't see the possibility that Flood may win out and win 7 games. Nebraska, MD, and Army we have a chance, but I will be in total shock if we compete with Michigan let alone beat them.

I'm going from 2 to zero if Flood returns, barring zappaa's unlikely scenario. I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years, and just can't take the team's performance any more under Flood, it is pure torture.

please do. I like that we can re-visit prior threads. However in this case all it will prove is that Rutgers is so lucky to have so many crazy a$$ supporters that while extremely frustrated we continue to support this program over and over and over and over and over again....which is why things never change..like voting in the same dumb a$$ politicians every election. HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL...

Gonna drop from 4 to 2. Stubhub when I need extra single game. Gonna try to upgrade my remaining seats since I suspect some better seats will free up.
