How many tix are you renewing next year?

Renewing both of mine. A fan since1960, I've been through a lot of years worse than this!!

I started as a frosh at South Brunswick HS in 1974(sat near the hill by the cannon) . That is 41 years. Every home game x a few since a frosh at RU in 1977. Maybe 5 or 6 games missed between 1977 and 2014. I did not go to OSU and I am 90% likely to miss Nebraska. I just have no interest in this program with this staff right now. I'm sorry (although still traveling to West Point). My tix are for sale on the exchange.

So that makes 25% of my missed home games over 37 years THIS season. Way to go RU. You've beaten me into submission. (yeah I know "I am no fan and I have no loyalty")
1984,
Serious question... There were so many bad years in the 80's, 90's and 2000's against bad teams and you feel this way now? Why? Seasons were much worse than this one and the competition now is better than ever. Did you have zero expectations back then?

My long term investment is going on 35 years now...If Flood returns I go to zero.
I'm with VK, when reading about upcoming games, injuries, the opponents injury reports, what the opponents coach is saying about us, what our coach is saying about us no longer interests me, it's time to get out.
This is the crux of the problem. You have two people who didn't go to RU both with significant disposable incomes who simply have lost interest. We could easily take our money and go elsewhere........proximity and passion will always keep involved but why spend 20k for something I could buy on Craig's list.

After twenty years of season tickets and driving from Connecticut to Piscataway for four hours to see Rutgers play, I am going from 2 to zero. It is not worth driving for four hours to see Rutgers throttled again and again under the leadership of Kyle Flood.

This is exactly why I think we have a new coach next year...and not a chump

I don't get those who think of football tickets as an investment. They seem more like buying a new car which depreciates the day you drive it off the lot. Demand rarely rises above supply and most in this thread note the need to regularly eat extra which is why I am down to two. Great if you have a big group and the tail gate is the primary attraction. For me it's about the game and the product. We have been getting shortchanged on that front. Agree with vkj on level of current interest. Going to Ann Arbor this weekend and trying not to think too much about the actual game.

We have 4 in the Audi Club and 4 in 105. We will keep all 8 and keep supporting our school. We will also keep traveling to see as many of the road games as we can. Am I happy with the state of affairs this year? No. But will not stop supporting my school or the student athletes that take pride in putting on that jersey. I will never tell people what they should do with their money because everyone has their reasons. But for the people who say they want Rutgers to be a winning program in football and all other sports, stopping support now will not help achieve that. We are getting better in overall sports . But to continue, they need all the help they can get. I'll be there Saturday cheering as loud as I can and hope for a great end to our week adventure between games. Go RU!

I would renew my ticket but I would renew my ticket regardless of who coaches. Rehire Terry Shea and I'll be in my seat.

How many times on this thread do you think the same person posted under different screen names...i counted at least 4 different that it seemed like fake names...

Talk about loser mentality! This is one thread im glad will archive and look forward to rereading in a couple seasons.

It's not that I see them as an investment but I also don't see the need to throw money away. I'm going to keep enough for my immediate family but there is no reason to have all the extras. In your car analogy it would be like a bachelor with no friends buying an extended suburban.

I am a 17 year season ticket holder who is not an alumni and donates 4 figures each year . If the RU Administration brings back Elmer Fuddrutgers next year they have shown they have no commitment nor desire to being competitive in the B1G. Therefore I will no longer commit my time and money to program . Cancelling my 2 tickets and will wait until RU shows it has any interest in being a respectable CFB program.
Anyone saying they plan on increasing their tickets next year if Fudd comes back is either full of sh#t or is a masochist.

Here's the problem for me in all this. I literally don't care right now. I haven't read one article this week about the game, I haven't looked at my calendar to see if I have any conflicts saturday at 330, I haven't watched one post practice report, and I didn't even bother looking at the status of their QB. I look forward to football season all year and from late August it's just been one disappointment after another.
Doesnt care about Rutgers football and hasnt read one article all week yet continues to post
On scarletnation...

Im not buying it...losing sucks and hard to follow a team that constantly goes run run short pass punt... But this is ur passion ur interest will be back

Since you will not commit your time, will you also stop posting?

Leaning towards taking my 2 down to 0 if Flood returns. Too easy to go the Stubhub route and save the funds. That said if we show some gumption and get rid of him I will gladly pay the premium and watch a new era begin.

If the moron is fired, I will be increasing from 3 to 4. My donation will also double (I donate 4 figures, and that will be doubling).
If he somehow weasels his way back, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do ticket wise...My donation will drop to the absolute minimum.
I honestly don't even care about the team this year. It's just such a joke...all the fun has been sucked out.
You know what keeps people going? Hope. Flood gives us none, especially for the future.

I just got word of a shotgun family wedding on the 28th. In years past, I would have said I already have plans. This year, I'm kind of glad I won't be at the game. I wouldn't be surprised if our 9 seats are all empty for that game.

I'm going to be out of town. There's no way I'll be able to sell my 3 for that game.

I didn't say my interest wouldn't return. What I said was there is no reason to buy 13-17 tickets, 3 yellow passes, and donate thousands of dollars a year. No, i haven't read any of the articles and while I've continued to post I only post about being annoyed and coaches.

I got rid of my season tickets two years ago and started buying single tickets. I just went to the first game of the season this year and was planning to see more until I saw what was on the field. Schiano got me started watching Rutgers football.

I will come back when Flood is gone.

2 season tickets for over 35 years. Saw Burns against the likes of Colgate and Holy Cross, then Anderson, Graber, Shea, Schiano and finally Flood. Saw a lot of awful football played by less talented players over those years. We're now in the B1G. We have better coaches, better players, better facilities, better attendance, better recognition, better game experience and much better weekly competition. I'll be keeping my seats and there will be others taking over yours to watch the continued rise of Rutgers Football.

I haven't read one article or listened to anything Harbough has said, I have no idea if Mich has injuries or what they're saying about us.
I read our practice reports not to find out information, but to see how many dumb things KF says.
I can assure you I'm not computer savvy enough to post under different names.
But, as I said earlier, all of my interest and enthusiasm will return if I see good special teams play, no fumbled QB snaps, great game plans on both sides of the ball and a strong physical effort.
If things continue as they have the last two weeks...my Interest level will remain as is, pretty much nil

Better coaches?
Every guy on that list is a better head coach than Flood, you can argue against Shea...maybe.
Rutgers will not rise if Flood is around...the continued rise is contingent upon the next head coach.
Not of that will stop you from enjoying your tailgate though...RU fans make tailgating their focal point and use it to defend the program.

I hear ya...am i pumped as much as usual no...it sucks we arent that good and playing Michigan! A team we beat last year and there is no excitement at all... Its like the wind has been taken out of our sails...hopefully this team comes to play this week...

Now this is a curious situation when a season ticket holder of 13-17 tickets says he is not renewing...when u say no reason to buy 13-17 tickets, is it you personally buying 13-17 tickets or is that your group? Is it you personally that wants to cancel or is it ur entire group of 13-17? If it is not a group What does one
person do with 13-17 tickets maybe u have kids and a wife but thats a lot of tickets for one person to pay for....sorry for being nosey its just that a season ticket holder of your stature cancelling is a cause for concern

I agree with the first two sentences. As far as tailgating goes, I see it like this: putting effort into tailgating is not only fun and a great way to hang out with old friends/former classmates, but also a defensive way of emotionally detaching oneself from the anger, disgust, and/or sadness that watching putrid team/coaching performances afterward would normally bring out of a passionate fan. If this current trend continues, fan apathy will likely be the most dangerous phenomenon, as illustrated by some in this very thread. Increasing numbers of casual fans will not bother even showing up or just tailgate if that's what they really enjoy, and die-hards will be still go to games but essentially be tuned out with minimal to zero expectations of success.

They are all mine. I used to have 22 but dropped down to 13 after the first coaching search fell apart. For the last two season I've had 13 but bought 4 extras for each big name game. I have 5 people in my immediate family and use the extras to bring friends, nephews, business clients etc. Once again, I'm having a hard time finding anyone to come to these games so I will probably end up eating about 10 for Nebraska and another 11 for Maryland. I will always keep my core 5 because it's great family time but no reason to waste good money on all the others.

All 8 and still donating, because unlike fair weather fans I know that we need to keep the money flowing if we want change. Cutting your donations and tickets only makes it harder on the school. The team will go through ups and down, obviously this is a down year, but sticking with it through the bad times is what makes you a true fan, not bailing out.

I won't be renewing my tickets. Combination of poor product on the field, lack of administrative support, zero faith in our coach (who I supported until the emailgate fiasco) and conflicts with other activities (I missed two home games this year due to youth sports commitments). I will still attend games, most likely buying tickets through Stubhub or scalpers, but I can't see spending more than $700 a year to see 3-4 games, at least two in which we get blown out.

1984,

Interesting. I really didn't dig into what I am feeling or should I say why. In the 80's we beat some very good teams we shouldn't have. There was always a chance and I recall the games just being more competitive. Same for the Schiano years. Frustrations were always offset by a legitimate chance to execute and win. And frankly with Terry Shea...as bad as the results were I actually enjoyed seeing what he could do as a coach with what he had to work with. Couldn't recruit but I thought he got more out of his players than most. (certainly didn't matter in the end).
And I got to tailgate close to the stadium and enjoy a real college game feel in the stadium.

Over the years of paying more to get pushed back further away to tailgate and walk in, the disconnect of the band and piped in stuff, seeing top local talent flee the state, and see a completely over his head stubborn coach do the same things over and over again, new OC every year, and a DC who just can't get it done with any consistency... and maybe perhaps it is a spill-over from my total frustration with all things Rutgers and Rutgers athletics of late.

long answer..sorry to dump.

short version..the beatings under flood with the talent on this team and the lack of coaching/execution is just impossible to stand this.

Mike..my Business Partners have been trying to get me down to AC for 5 years now. All expense paid trip for 1 weekend each fall. Not even a huge fan of AC. And every year I have passed because it conflicts with an RU game. I give up. That is why you won't see me on the 14th. And since you won't be there on the 28th I guess I'll either catch you at a Basketball Game or next season. Enjoy the wedding! Say hi to the boys for me..

I'm pretty sure that season tix sales will increase again for next year. And that donations will increase too. Regardless of what some of our posters say they're going to do.

Also, for some here, you can call me extremely skeptical that they won't be back again. Won't mention any names now, so as to avoid the pointless argument. But this thread will be available next year so it will be fun to revisit. [winking]

LOL. OK.

Most people have standards. The fraud and failure lovers, aka the Floodies/blue sky/5%, + the Michigan and TTFP fans who will be the majority in the stadium with Flood as HC, are not enough to keep the rinky dink, acadamic fraud, criminal laden program the Flood/Barchi/Towers crew supports.

Who is going to buy tickets for this? There are other local teams- even the Mets and Jets now actually seem committed to winning. High school games. Barbecue in your backyard. The Hunt. Apple picking.

The list of cost effective options are boundless, and all superior to watching players who don't have a chance due to poor coaching get dominated by programs who care, with fans who will fill our stadium and embarrass us in every way.

The cost of flights have gone down too. I'll be on the beach when Barchi sees the increased red all over his ledger.

Michigan and TTFP fans won't sign on for the "Ponzi Park" scheme the AD has created. The back of blue and yellow will be as empty as our defensive backfield.
