How will Ash handle QB?

My guess is it will be an open competition between Rescigno, Oden and Lewis in the spring/summer with Rescigno having the advantage. Call me crazy, but I could see a scenario (assuming multiple QB transfers) where RU brings in a grad transfer/JUCO and if said transfer is good enough to start or play backup then Lewis and maybe even Oden redshirt. I would say it is unlikely but not unthinkable.
That's the most realistic prediction regarding the QB competition for next year. Ash brings in a JUCO/grad transfer qb and Gio/Oden/Lewis all compete for the QB pecking order. Laviano/Rettig/Dare all transfer out after the season.

I don't know if the OP is referring to the first or second time. The TV guys said Ash told them he planned on giving Oden a series or two all along. No matter when that series happened, posters here would be complaining it was at the wrong time. Nothing new or unusual with that.

The second time Gio came out was obviously because he was hurting. Once again I'm not surprised so many here are blind to that. It didn't fit their planned rant so they just ignore what was right in front of them.

I would guess that barring injury or performance by Gio like Laviano's performance, Gio should be presumed to start, and play most of the rest of the games, while Oden will get at least 1 series per game - a pre-planned series probably in the middle of the 2nd Quarter in each game, regardless of game situation. Oden might also get some situational looks occasionally, or some 4th quarter play if RU is down a bit late in the game in any of the remaining 4 games.

Again, just my guess.

I just realized that Gio is only a red shirt sophomore. I didn't realize that. And I think it presents an interesting situation. Being that this kid is showing some promise and is "taking his lumps" as a sophomore right now and it looks pretty promising, I'd really like to see the kid grow and reach his pinnacle.

My question is, what do we think Ash will do, being that he has brought in Oden as his own recruit, and started Laviano, then went to Allen long before he seemed to actually give Gio a realistic look.

Ash also pulled Gio to get Oden in at an odd point last game, which worries me a bit as to whether Ash is taking Gio as a serious possibility for the future.

Look, if Oden is the best QB on the tram next year then go with him, but if not, I want Gio to get a legit shot...that could usher Oden, and esp Lewis and whoever else in the right way behind him (I think Oden should have red shirted this year.) I am hesitant to trust Ash here, bc I think the only reason Laviano got the start was bc it was between him and Allen and Gio never got a serious look despite his ability to run this offense. Then Odens shirt was burned I would assume bc Ash anticipated him playing much sooner.

What do you guys think will happen?
"I am hesitant to trust ash here because I am making a lot of baseless assumptions because ive been negative about the staff ever since laviano, a player ive historically defended tooth and nail, lost his job."

Unless something changes this year I'd be shocked if CL is here next year. When you go from #1 to #3 the coaches are pretty much telling you that you had your shot and we've moved on.

Exactly. Graduate with your degree and go find a school with a nice MBA program like Nova or Fordham is what I'm sure Ash told Laviano or will tell him after the season.

You can go back to any if my posts this season and see ever since Gio ran for the TD that I've been stating he should play more, and you'll note I've criticized Ash from the start of the season for various issues with the team both aside from laviano and having to do with his poor play.

But since you made an entire screen name over Ash and Pokemon, I wouldn't expect any more from you. Now go back to playing with your building blocks little tyke.

I don't like trying to project what a kid should/would do but I'd be lying if I said it hadn't crossed my mind. These young men have reached this point by being tough competitors. Don't imagine that just goes away.

The really good news for me is comparing this years QB competition to next year. Laviano, Allen, Rettig, and then came a skinny inexperienced Oden and a very inexperienced Gio vs Oden with experience and a year in the weight room with Parker, an experienced Gio with confidence and an incoming frosh in Lewis who looks like he has the right skill set. things are looking up. Add the possibility of Grant returning with a med redshirt, and some young WRs, and returning RBs, it could be good. We need linemen and LBs to be better next year to be successful. There is an upside here that I like.

I'm a big time offender. At least I have an excuse, I'm not too bright. That said the spelling let alone getting player's names right is a lost art around here for a group of mostly college grads.

Not their fault. I blame relying too much on computers and spell check.

Always amazes me that so many here think "your" means "you are"
and the to/too error is universal. It is the best(worst) when they say
"your to stupid" Classic.

Gio was first in early in the year and ran for a TD, he then was backup behind Allen and Laviano. Allen is clearly not as good as Gio. Also, I'm unsure why Oden is backup now to Gio rather than Laviano. I get that people have snap reactions to some who may have a few questions about Ash, but his QB management up to this point does leave room to question how he will handle the kids going forward ...

Lusciato, you gotta have Oden as your backup at this point unless you are gonna go back to an under center I formation for Laviano. Laviano just can't function in this spread offense give his lack of running ability, it's like playing with 5 on 11 because besides not being able to run he is not good at distributing the ball to the RBs and receivers.

I mostly agree with you in terms of might as well have Oden be the backup to start running this offense the proper way, my only thought is that we havn't really seen that Oden is ready to throw the ball, so might be smart to have a kid back there who has played in a bunch of games and can (kinda maybe) throw. but at this point, i agree it is probably best to just have Oden and just go all in on the Running QBs, as the page has turned.
