HUGE win on so many levels….

Season saver, probably, plus it'll just be nice for the first time in weeks to not have to listen to the Schiano haters.
If being considered a Schiano hater is calling him out for his shortcomings, mainly because he does not adapt and stays stubborn in his old ways (which, in case you haven’t realized, has not put us on the precipice of reaching our potential), then I honestly don’t know what to tell you

The Schiano haters were very quiet or MIA altogether since the win . Mmmmm could it be they don’t like it when we win ? Say it ain’t so . Go RU.
What does a hater actually consist of?

One that questions Greg on some of his decisions and refusal to adapt?

One that doesn’t give him credit or credit is due, praise him for his accomplishments and is grateful that we brought him back?

Just wondering if you can clarify that for the masses

More name calling from the guy with the thinnest skin this board, that robo posts like his life depends on it, tells other posters he’s going to put them on ignore bc they call him out, praised Hobbs for his colossal mishandling of NIL, told everyone to shut up when they inquired about Pat’s gymnastics extracurriculars, and won’t donate a dime to Knights of the Raritan (which, in case he didn’t realize, directly contributes to the current and future success, or lack there of, to the program)

That, right there my friends, is the textbook definition of irony at its finest
Friends? You don't have any. How many screen names do you have, little boy in the basement? You like false narratives to cover your sorry ass. Let us know your other screen names so they can go on ignore too.

What happened to putting me ignore, ye of multiple thread replies ?

One that starts a thread about Greg getting fired for a few bad games when firing isn't even a remote possibility?

Questioning decisions and bad games without leaping off a cliff is a different thing.

Consider the masses clear-minded on that.

The way they kept kicking low rolling punts I believed they told the kicker to do that on purpose because their scouting showed we never pick it up. I know it can be risky but they should tell Dremel to stay with it and if it takes a big favorable bounce to grab it and go.
Just put 11 guys on the LOS trying to block the punt and call it a day. Its a better strategy if you're never gonna touch the ball. (however the last return created some hope).

It was a great game and an enjoyable win. Fun to be able to stick around till the end. But season is not saved (yet). It was a big win that set us up to save the season.

I only bitched at one play call. Not running the ball on 4th and 1 on the first drive after running it all over them. I can certainly live with that so early. I believe I saw a return to the Cocknose and so did the run stop. Disappointed that they stopped sending the heat on that last drive. We're a different pass defense when doing so.

Thank you team for a very solid win. Needed that bad.

Here's another thing about the haters.. they keep tossing out Indiana as example of what we should have over Schiano.. yet Indiana played no one in OOC play (FIU, W. ILL and Charlotte).. something they always mention about Schiano wanting weak OOC schedule.. and everyone, I think, knows Indiana is an aberration this year. A happy aberration for IU fans and cinderella-story-loving football fans.. me amongst them.

How many college football teams COULD have hired Cignetti over the past 2-3 years and did not? Why should anyone think tossing Schiano in an attempt to find the next Cignetti is a smart move? Haters would think that.. because it gets them to their true goal.. firing Schiano because they don't like him and don't like conservative defensive-minded football.

Was it Nebraska that dealt with 11 on the line with a pass by the punter that got a 1st down?

Indiana has the most transfers (31 in, 39 out) by far in the Big Ten. Their success is not sustainable as many only a have this year left of eligibility. So the haters are going to have to find another coach to prop up to say that coach X is better.

The same posters attacking you have little self awareness considering some of their posts the last few weeks. Somehow they have annointed themselves decision makers of what acceptable criticism vs haters is

One lunatic poster here keeps saying I hate Schiano because of what Bob Mulcahy did in 2004!!!!

Not easy though to blend that many new players into a cohesive unit. Credit to the coaches for being able to do so.

This season may also entice more transfers for next year.

And we don't know (or at least I don't) how their recruits are developing down the depth chart below the transfers.

That said I don't like holding up successful seasons by other teams as reason to criticize Rutgers. Good for IU. But I'm worried about RU.

somehow getting to 7 wins (+ a bowl win) would be a very good season.

Just making bowl game at this point is the goal.
I'd say 7 would be a good season, not very good.

Some nit picky semantics perhaps but I think a one win improvement given all the returning players does not make for a very good season.

But I'm all in on having a "good" season at this point.

It’s not a few games

We’ve seen nearly 20 years of Greg, with the last 5 after he’s coached in the NFL and with one of the preminient programs in college football history, under one of the greatest head coaches to ever grace the sideline

I’ve formed my opinions of him based off based off of those observations, while heaping praise (well deserved at that) for what he’s done for us here on The Banks

I want more. Much more. I truly believe we can achieve that. And I write checks, buy tickets and merch, and post on this board to help us get to that level.

When much is given (7 years at 49 million dollars) much is expected.

and with this team, this year, with the schedule, and in year five of GS 2.0, in reality, when I’m expecting is really not that much

Again, define for me when an actual hater is

Is it one that wants to hold their head coach responsible, during his second tenure here, 20th season overall coaching and fifth season back on the banks, for continuing to be stubborn and doubling down on playing the same type of football that is not getting us to an elite level?

Do tell

It’s the same batch of old, grouchy guys that are more concerned about losing their parking spots rather than losing games, refuse to donate a dime to NIL based out of some sort of twisted principle that the kids are still amateurs, and that nobody else could possibly take this program to the level where we all know they can achieve

I keep seeing this haters term, yet nobody has clearly defined what it is, what it means, or has put together a coherent explanation of why they’re even referring to other posters as that, considering the other posters simply just want results (and, given that they had the most talent this year we’ve ever had in the schedule on a perfectly, isn’t a big ask)

A certain group of people have been calling other people names for the past couple of years based on ill-founded views as well, and as we found that on Tuesday, that didn’t exactly end too well for them

I'm not knocking the Indiana coaching staff at all. Great job. My point is that way of building a team year after year after year ... is not sustainable. The chances of them getting another 31 new players next year and start 10-0 is near zero.

Are they 10-0? Wow. Yeah unlikely.

But if I were a betting man, I'd lay money on an above .500 season. Assuming coaching staff is back.

I dont understand this mentality. You’re projecting the best season in their program history isn’t sustainable?? So what ?! They are enjoying a once in a multi/generation experience. What about Deion and How bad CO was ? Getting prime tv slots every single weekend now.

Enough of the old program building BS we are telling ourselves. We are building and sustaining a very very mediocre or below mediocre program. Took us 5 years to get here. Teams have collapsed and re-risen during our “build” time frame. It doesn’t work like this anymore.

Agree, it is a new world so no one knows what is sustainable. Maybe they will live with the transfer portal, and develop as system and staff to maximize it for them year after year. The coach obviously can bring a new group together and get them to work as a team.

If Schiano went down this path and the following year he had a losing season you would be calling for him to be fired. Saying it wasn't a good move in not building a program! Stop your nonsense!

Sustainable doesn’t even matter.
They are there. They’re doing it. They are having the type of season we would all trade our souls for.

If unsustainable means they are right back to battling to make middle of the road bowl games after this , well that seems to be what 5 years of “development” gets you anyways.

So it doesn’t even matter if it’s sustainable. It’s happening.

What’s nonsense ?
That’s where we are now ! But we haven’t had a 2006 type season to enjoy. We just enjoy the downside of a “non sustainable” framework of roster builds.

If you offer any Rutgers fan out there the opportunity for

A) win 10+ games and complete for (and make) the playoff once every 8 years. But the other 7 years you get 4 losing seasons and 3 mediocre bowl games.

Or

B) you get 8 seasons with 2 losing seasons and 6 mediocre bowl games . Best season is 7 or 8 regular season wins.

Which one you taking ?!

You must have me confused with other posters my man.

I’m about as die hard of a fan as we got. Including organizing game watch parties in Hoboken for years with @AreYouNUTS while about 6 people show up to join us for the dark stretches. And begging friends and family to continue to attend every single home game .

Not sure what your calling out but my point is to have an extra rusher not just st send 11 without regard to the gunners, etc.

And also not to suggest I'd rather abandon a returner. Just saying it's a throw away player if not going to be used.

The first one but that is a complete joke as it is not sustainable! Every 10 years???? If that is what you expect from any non blue blood team you are barking up the wrong tree! If that is you demand maybe it's time to root for another team.

Stop. I'm old, grouchy, give to NIL,and don't want to lose my spot. 😛

In light of NIL, this is the textbook definition of small time thinking

Also, completely innaccurate

People like you actually. Look in the mirror and you find your answer. It’s very easy to spot them . Just go back on a lot of the posts the last couple of weeks and see who is posting and what they are posting . Very easy to tell the haters from concerned fans who have legit questions and frustrations. If you can’t tell the difference I don’t know what to tell you .

I’m not demanding anything.
Nor do I suggest Schiano or anyone on the staff be let go.

I’m not that kinda guy. What we have is what we are given the resources our fans and school have decided to allocate at this time.

My whole argument that you’re missing is that people who look at Indiana and say “oh that’s not sustainable “ . My argument is that’s a bizarre and clueless comment. RU is building its program mostly the old way , while we’re seeing lots of examples of teams that were in our tier now enjoying once in a generation type success the “new” way.

Haters give honest opinions?

Have season tix?
Tailgate for hours?
Go to away games and bowls ?
Buy merch?
Donate to NIL?
Are members of the Touchdown Club?

Sounds like that’s what we need more of, rather than the group think that permiates this board entirely too often
