Why does Hyatt continually try to drive to the basket from the left side? He ALWAYS get stripped. It is a wasted possession!

He's a senior that's required to score points in order for RU to win games. Scorers sometimes have good plays made against them on defense. I think he has scored driving to the basket a handful of times this season already.

Which other wing player beyond Griffiths, who is 5 games into his career, can drive and has the size the score against a bigger or taller defender?? Do we have Woolfolk developed to that point....., Cliff, Chol, Oskar.....Mag isn't back yet and he's has some of that drive and score mentality.

Hyatt has 20 FT attempts in 5 games......that's why he's driving into the lane, to draw contact, get his defender in foul trouble, getting to the line. Stop the clock, make your FTs, set up the 3/4 court press for the guards, take time off the shot clock for the opponent when they cross half court, play good defense, get the rebound, rinse/repeat.

Driving and scoring is winning basketball and getting to the FT is winning basketball. Settling for perimeter shots and shying away from contact is hoping and praying the shot goes in.

I don’t mind him driving but also have noticed he goes left every single time when going to the rim

I have to admit that I’ve come full circle on Hyatt since early last season. He is a valuable member of the team for all the reasons stated above and started gaining my respect as the season wore on. I’m glad he decided to come home from LSU.

As long as Hyatt doesn't try to do too much and force the game he is a net positive. However, he has shown a pattern of trying to force his game too much over the years where he becomes a net negative and literally brings the whole show down because he is running counter to what the team is trying to do. He's a talented player who just seems to lose focus at times and not think. Hopefully we see Net Positive Hyatt a lot more, because Net Negative Hyatt makes you bang your head against the wall.

I think the better guard play is going to be correlated to seeing more of the good Hyatt. When the guards were contributing absolutely nothing, Hyatt was forcing more. I kind of give him a pass on that. Someone needed to try to make something happen

I've always liked him
He can be a real plus but he is not a natural 3
He doesn't have a great handle and cannot shoot well off the dribble
He is a good spot up shooter when facing and can be a good interior defender and rebounder
If the guards can continue to score and GG continues to impact more and more
Hyatt can be a perfect complimentary player as long as plays within himself
