I am surprised we havent heard or no one has uncovered any clues about Corey since B1GT

Spring break is either this week or next week. I expect Corey to go back to Lakeland and talk with his family / handlers and make a decision. He said he would make a decision “in a couple of weeks.” I believe corey’s Timeline as he was quoted at the Garden.

All reports indicated that Corey was going to take a few weeks and travel back to his family in Florida before making a decision. So no news is expected as of now. What will happen is that Corey will wait after the ncaas and have scouts assess where he falls given many players make their name during the dance. Again I'm not expecting him back given his personal situation and the likelihood that he can play possibly in the NBA g league

Hey Rock. I was there for noon game on Friday so no issues. My sons ride up took 2 hours son or too bad via nj transit all things considered. Though we lost Friday it was awesome. On my way up now for the title game. It's been some tourney

He is more than likely not back. The other posters are correct that he is going back to Florida at spring break but the decision has already been made. It is mostly due to personal things in his life. He has given us a great 3 years and he will be sorely missed next year.

Corey could start on any big 10 ten next season if he stays the big 10 can throw Rutgers the bone with a the "easy" schedule to be abke to sell the star quality to the masses

The B1G schedulers did the opposite from what you are suggesting by having Rutgers play Michigan State,Purdue and Minnesota twice based on their high preseason rankings.

How do you know that Corey already made the decision to leave?

Don't expect any announcement soon since he can't change his mind once he declares. He will wait as long as he has to and get the best feedback he can before he decides. I expect his decision to be made at the last minute.

Does anyone know for sure where he wants to play pro ball? NBA, overseas or anywhere the money leads him? Maybe he will only leave if he gets what he wants.

The NBA won’t have any interest in Corey. If he’s looking for a payday he’ll have to go play overseas.

serious question:
how would it benefit Corey to stay? How would it benefit him financially, physically, or in any other realistic, pragmatic way to stay ?
let's set our own wishes, projections aside.
what are the best possible scenario s vs worst possible of him staying another year?

I have it on good authority but I cannot say. Believe me I wish he would come back for his senior year but unfortunately he will not be coming back

I could really get excited about next year's team if he stayed.
But I'm pretty confident he's gone....sad to say.

Benefits to staying, work with coach Pikiell, coach Knight, and coach Hobbs especially using his left hand. If I was Corey I would concentrate all off season on dribbling and going only left. In HS our JV coach had one of my teammates tie his right hand to his side and make him only use his left. Also used a type of blinder so he would not look at the ball while dribbling.

He would get a degree from a great university in case basketball doesn’t work out for any of a variety of reasons.

Play at a place you are loved, with teammates that you can lead.

Finish what you started putting Rutgers back on the basketball map.

Corey got a brief taste of the media spotlight during this tournament run. He would get WAY more of that next year playing college then he will in Europe or in the NBA GLeague.

He has a finite amount of years to play basketball in or near peak athletic ability

He clearly is there now. He leaves 50-250k+ on table by coming back to RU.

150k? I would think overseas he would probably make 50-80k first year. If you know the numbers, I am glad to be wrong.

It will be tough to be accurate about this position.

I have gone back and fourth. At this point NBA and G league scouts see this out of Corey Sanders.

A high level athlete who has an effective jump shot in clutch situations. A crowd pleaser. A 7.0-7.5/10 defender.

In a game where 3 pt shooting is priority, Sanders will struggle mightily there at the next level. His jump shot is clutch, but the mechanics are not favorable to scouts who can see it being a long term threat in the league. His shot selection at the rim can sometimes be on, but it can also be a low efficient shot for Sanders. Driving through the masses, and very off balance shots that he makes. The harder the shot, the better for Sanders. The simple mechanics are not there for scouts to see Corey Sanders be effective long term.

Corey Sanders might get a shot at the G league after this year. NBA full time is hard to see. Overseas they will probably offer him 50-80k for his first year. If he goes to the right location, maybe more. He has obligations. I could not see him loving overseas as Sanders is someone, like many of us, who do well with more support. I have a friend who gladly passed up on some offers.

I think he comes back. Nonetheless, Sanders is a great kid who is much more than a basketball player. I wish him luck in whatever he does.

in my mind his stock went way up in the last week compared to his play of all last year. I'm not sure his stock gets any higher than it is now.

I agree. I can’t see him looking any better next season than he did this week.

I want him back but the truth is that a lot of us will be bitching about him most of next season if he was to return. He’s not as good as he looked this week but he’s probably a little better than he looked most of the season.

The further we get from the tournament and the juice from that, the more likely Corey will be thinking about the $$$, IMO.

If someone could get paid even 50-80k to play basketball, why wouldn't they? You can always finish your degree later.

so this is a very interesting speculation. it leaves him in a predicament if he is unwilling to go overseas. his options then would appear to be limited.

His obligations are what many have noted. Sanders has a family, etc. Overseas, you make some money, but you are far from family, which is tough. He is also a young kid. I think besides overseas, his options would be limited.

Scouts are very savvy in the NBA. They see a player for exactly what he is most of the time. Although Sanders is highly athletic, and has been clutch a lot of times this year in some great moments for himself, if we are being critical, his game would still need a lot of improvement. A guard in the NBA that does not shoot .250 from 3? Not likely. It's a shooters game, and the numbers have to support the player for the long term. An off balanced jumper as your best shot? Teams will not look past that. Just seeing what scouts will see.

His athleticism, energy, clutch mentality, and willingness to play on the defensive end are what scouts are going to see in Sanders. They will mark him for inconsistency in everything else.

Because it means you are away from family for 4 months out of the year, and in certain parts of the country that can be out there for many young kids.

BK has noted this as well. Overseas is usually not what we think it is. In saying that, it also has a lot of benefits. Paid rent, paid car, etc.

But they come at cost.

I don’t even that Corey knows what he is doing at this point. My guess is that he will get an NBA evaluation and see how that goes. If he doesn’t hear what he wants to hear, he has a choice to make - come back for a senior year and get his degree or go overseas.

I sat next to a career overseas player that played college at USCe. He played in 3 leagues per year. So yes it’s $50-$80k times 3 is a nice living

The challenge with a young child is this means 3 different countries every year. Great if you are single.

As a college student, he's not exactly seeing his family any more than he would be overseas. I just want to say I want him back, but I don't think he's coming back.
