Despite my news the other day, it's really not so bad. HCKF is feeling relieved since I dropped the news here on Rivals. Sargeant and Dunleavy wrote stories about this yesterday referencing this site but also validating the word going around the booster circle. We are focused on going 1-0 this week. HCKF loves coming to work everyday.

There are a few more twists and turns which came out since the last post but not worth sharing. This whole thing is classic RU not knowing which way is up. Still going to predict HCKF is here next week. Maybe tweak it from 100% to 85%. I think Merger Bob as I will refer to him now is going to have a PR mess next week if he makes no moves at all. Let's wait and see and enjoy Thanksgiving.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

No..... What's classic is a poster posting "inside" information as to what's going to happen, and now backing off somewhat (100% to now 85% sure). Bottom line, you really don't know.

I'm not Barchi so you are right. Ultimately I don't know. I was one day ahead of the media on this (who by the way have sources all over the University). Prove me wrong on that one. You want the links to their stories? By the way, 85% isn't backing off. It's hedging against the stupidity of the President's office which should be 100% the other way

Why would anybody who says they are a Rutgers fan drop their season tickets knowing that we have Penn State, Michigan, and Iowa on the home schedule. I, like many, waited a lifetime for that type of schedule and damn it if I am going to give up my seat location because I don't like the current coach. I am a lifer, I take a long term view, we will go thru high and lows, wins and losses, and multiple coaches, but at the end of the day I will be there to support my school and enjoy all that comes with playing in the B1G.

Maybe some of us are getting to a point in life where we are re-evaluating the merits of committing to seven saturdays in the fall to attend RU football games. To me its not alot of fun to go watch them play the likes of Penn State, Ohio State and others and not be competitive. Until proven otherwise I can always jump back in and my PP total is not that high despite having tickets since about yr 3 of Schiano. I will just be more selective regarding the games I want to attend in person versus those where the couch will do. I understand tailgating is a big part for some but that just makes the overall time commitment for seven saturdays plus usually one weekend for a road game (which I will definitely continue to do) even larger.

why? very easy....because the decision making of the school to piss on the fanbase and keep a guy that has shown he is not going to get it done is good reason to not donate, not spend money. If they are not going all in, why should the fans. I sat pretty emotionless for the last two games. I could care less about the Maryland game but will go to see just how bad the atmosphere will get.

When you have people like me and others who have been long time fans who are now disinterested and thinking about not renewing and spending our time more productively then the school has a serious problem. Fans can cherry pick a game or two that they want, there is no demand for tix and even in the Big 10 the games do not sell out. When the school decides to start caring again about football the people will come back but we don't owe an allegiance to the school that will say to us GIVE ME YOUR MONEY but we will decide to make all our decisions on the cheap.

That's exactly it. We were competitive against ONE top team. It's great that we're finally playing these teams, but it will be far better when RU shows that it actually cares about competing with them.

Being blown out week after week is hardly fun for many... even when they've been die-hard fans their whole lives.

So Silencer claims to have had a 13 year moratorium on posting here, only recently to come back posting look how great I am and how much I know threads every day. LOL.

I'll be right if Merger Bob keeps Flood. That's my final prediction. Once again one I hope is wrong. I would be glad to be wrong.

RuInsanity- what I forget about Rutgers football you have yet to learn.

I totally get your mindset. In my case, I have a lot of points due to longevity. So, I won't given up my tickets completely but I can definitely impact my financial commitment by:

-Cutting my ticket total to the bare minimum needed (figuring any extra people can get single game tickets to any game if they really want) instead of having several games a year where there is work involved in getting season tickets used.

-Getting rid of my lower level tickets and keeping the upper deck ones, which reduces the ticket price and drastically reduces my mandatory donation.

-Selling the tickets for the expected blowouts on Stub Hub. I wouldn't want to miss a win over Penn State for anything, but I don't feel the least concerned that could happen with the current coach now that the window where depth made PSU vulnerable has closed.

I guess you are not an alum, because as an alumnus I have an allegiance to Rutgers that is unwavering. Sure, would I love a winner, you bet, and is it fun seeing the team blown out at home, of course not, but things change, and if it is not next year it will be the year after. My family and I enjoy the entire game day experience, we love the people we tailgate with and we love where we sit and the friendships we have built over the years. Why now would we give that up, we have gone from the enjoyment of the Burns era, survived Shea, and then seen the rebirth under GS. So now we have another so, so coach, if he survives this year, he will either turn it around next year or be gone. Again, I am not giving up my seats because of one lousy coach. Kyle Flood will not defeat me and spoil my fun!

I may puke if Flood is kept. I can't wait for another year of everyone on defense being out of position and the offense handing it off on every play. Meanwhile we piss away the eligibility of a four star player because we can't develop a QB. Hell, just look at the difference of Nova with/without Fridge. I'm getting sick just thinking of this. By the time we fire this guy, there will be nothing left talent wise. Recruiting is going to completely drop off this year if we don't fire him. I'm sad

20% reduction in season tickets next year if Flood is back.

Seriously overestimating this.

Myself and my group are still looking for additional season tix in our area and as I've said before.. much to our disappointment no one around my seating area is looking to give up any seats.. Perhaps the fringe fans are going to give up a few, but not likely that the long term devoted fans will be interrupting their years of consecutive giving and the associated seat equity and parking pass equity.

The people in the know realize the posters posting on a message board are mostly the "squeeky wheel" segment of the fan base and not representative of the whole. My guess is that 75% of the people threatening to give up seats on this board have no real intention to do so... and are just thinking they are helping to influence the university into making a decision they want. Interesting how these message boards work

Silencer
Some people will rip you (especially the Floodies), but I enjoy your posts.
Please continue posting; I appreciate your insights; thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

So basically you are admitting that you have an affinity for braggarts. PS - there are no Floodies left, they have become urban legend status on this board- a "villian" that no longer exists.

I'll be right if Merger Bob keeps Flood. That's my final prediction. Once again one I hope is wrong. I would be glad to be wrong.

RuInsanity- what I forget about Rutgers football you have yet to learn.

Does it make you feel self important to talk about how much you know or how much more you know than other people on an anonymous fan board?

There are a couple left. But even if they disappeared, some folks need a straw man to punch to make themselves feel better.

yes I am an alum and I truly don't care about the games anymore. Flood ruined it for me just like he did in 2013. I went to school during the Anderson/Graber years and had season tix with Shea, it was easier to take when I was younger and spending less money on the product and back then there was no charade going on that we were competing like a Big 10 school.

there are plenty of RU alums who are football fans that have lost interest and stopped going...if you don't believe it check out the 25K empty seats for Maryland

I can still go to two of those games on the secondary market and be up a bunch of money by cutting my donations and ticket costs. That money will be saved in my two kids college funds. Easy choice.

What about men's hoops? You still go?
I was never into hoops. I have a good friend who is a long time ticket holder, and she says it is pretty empty these days.

not happy but I want to be there next year if we beat PSU. Hamilton back with Joseph and Turay. Rossi should go at least.

oh there are some around...and worse yet a lot of spores remain, they will grow and become full fledged Floodies again if he comes back
Yeah, I was a Floodie, and I would like to see him go, but if he's back, I am not going to piss all over him on the boards. If he shows improvement next year, I'll warily get behind him. Not optimistic about that , but not totally pessimistic. I'll bide my time until 2021 when we have the money to make that change we all are waiting for. :flush:

You summarized silencers predictions pretty accurately. Either way he will be right.

hahahahaha pretty much. Except I'm not quite sure if he openly stated that Julie may be finding herself as the one in deep doodoo

As for Silencer- never have I seen such a pompous poster on here

I wouldn't be surprised if the other 25% don't actually have season tickets (having given them up the first year Flood was hired or any of 3 years since when they threatened to do so). lol

The question of keeping season tickets depends on ones perspective.
Those who say, "I have waited a long time to see these teams on the RU schedule and I'm going no matter what." have a point. And, those who say," I recognize that it is a definite schedule upgrade, but watching us get our asses kicked is not worth me being there." also have a valid point.

It all depends on expectations. When Rutgers first went "big time", it was merely signing on to play some of the top teams in the country (ie Alabama, Tennessee, etc.) thrown into our regular quasi-ivy league schedules. Expectations of winning were certainly pretty low so when we did shock once in awhile like Tenn. and the near win to Bama, it was great. Is that what we want now?

Being a member of a P5 conference, it comes down to what does the university really want? Are the powers that be happy to be merely sitting at the table as the redheaded stepchild? Will it be one excuse after the other for not being really competitive? Right now it is money. That will not be the case in the future with the expected financial windfall. Will the "Rutgers 1000" actually end up winning after all by us not being what many want this program to be?

There are just so many unanswered questions. This should not be the way it is! Getting into a P5 conference and especially the BIG was on table for a long time. This didn't happen over night and the fact that we are still stumbling around just shows how dysfunctional the leadership really is.

Silencer may be close on this one
Report comes out..,
Maybe Flood stays
Maybe Flood gone
Maybe Flood and Julie gone
Maybe Julie gone Flood stays

All about even odds.
Can't see a scenario where JH goes and he doesn't. It would be one thing if he was an extremely successful popular coach but that's not the case. I could envision the other 3.

You must be very young and extremely patient. You are willing to put up with at least 6 more years of Rutgers leadership crapping all over the fanbase.

its unbelievable to think but its on the the table, how they justify it I don't know because the biggest problem facing Rutgers is Flood and not making Julie the fallguy

I was joking about 2021. I am approaching 50, but I find myself getting more patient as I get older. After stuff I went through personally in 2014, it gave me perspective on what is important in life. And who is coaching Rutgers football contributes very little to my happiness in life, except for 3 hours on 12 Saturdays per year. I still want change, and I am willing to wait--if not this year, then next year is fine.

Lol you're too funny. Guess all your "lack of institutional control" crap was nothing BUT crap.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm not saying this to demean or insult you as your commitment to supporting RU football through thick and thin is commendable, however....

I believe this is EXACTLY the type of thinking the administration was banking on when Flood was extended last season. That the novelty of the B1G would last at least the first 3 seasons as legacy schools would come into Piscataway for the first time (Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, Iowa) and others would return after long absences (Penn State, Michigan State). The fact we went 8-5 season SHOULD HAVE in the administrations mind cemented Flood be here at least through the 2016 season and then they could reevaluate. However, dumbass has lost complete control of the program and he himself made some very poor decisions in violating university policy which resulted in his own suspension. Couple that with just absolutely atrocious, non-competitive football on the field in the absence of Coach Friedgen and perhaps the timeline of moving on Flood has now (hopefully) been pushed up a year.

A fan is a fan and HC's will always change during the course of ones lifetime...my loyalties NEVER change...in for a nickel..in for a dime.RU for better or worse.
I get your point but at some point the conduct of the administration becomes so egregious that even the most loyal reconsider.

I have friends who have bought VWs their whole life who will never buy another now.

If you found out that RU was fraudulently hiring out-of-work actors as professors to save money, would your advise your college-bound kid to still attend? Is Flood not completely unsuited for his position? If so, why support an administration who knowingly keeps a fraud as head coach?
