They were called Bobsicles.

Here is a blast from the past... the original Bobsicle.

I truly believe 1 of my roommates and I created this before anyone else after we picked up a bunch of free posters back in ~1988.

The poster had the schedule on it, and I got the idea to cut out Bob's profile. Then we cut out a piece of cardboard to give it support. Then we thought it would be cool to attach it to a stick and hold it up and down (like a protester's sign).

We brought a couple of them to the next game (we were in the RAC PACK), and the rest was history.

I still have both of these - just took a picture of them to share.

Fun times!

I wonder what is rarer, Bobsicles or authentic original Leonardo DiVinci paintings?

Anyone else still have theirs?

I also still have a piece of the sweatshirt that someone tossed to Anthony Duckett and then he subsequently threw to the crowd once he realized it said St Johns when he was sitting on the rim after we beat Penn State in the A10 final. It is about 4" of the end of one of sleeves.

The fans who caught it tore it into pieces and I thought kept them (maybe no one else still has their piece). It was kind of like fans taking a piece of turf or a seat when they used to play the last game at a stadium before demolishing it.

I don't know why I kept it. Piece of history to help remember that night I guess.

Maybe being in the RAC PACK made me a PACK RAT.

:joy:

If you ever got him to sign it, this would be legendary! I wonder if the yellow coats would let you bring one into a game now.

I also have a Bobsicle but it’s not an original. I had two of those 1988-89 “Master of the Court” Wenzel posters in the Colonel Archives and I sacrificed one a couple of years ago to make a Bobsicle as a decoration for my Colonel Cave. My arts and crafts skills aren’t great but I pulled it off.

I need to find a game that I can attend this year where Wenzel will be calling the game...

I do have another full size "Master of the Court" poster with Bob's signature.

I actually got to interview Coach for a research project I did for a class I took called Proposal Writing my junior year.

My proposal was to get the athletics department to pay for 2 buses to take students (The RAC PACK) to nearby away games (such as Temple, St Joe's, etc.)

My theory was the more students we had at those games, the better chance we had to win. So I figured I should interview Coach Wenzel to explain my idea to him and get his support. (Not sure I ever expected it to happen, but I thought his blessing would help get me an A.)

I called his office, explained my purpose to his secretary, and she set up the interview on a weekday afternoon.

I got to spend about 10 minutes with him. He was very welcoming and friendly and gave me his full attention.

After the interview, I asked if I could take a photo with him (I brought a camera, of course).

The secretary was going to take the photo, then forward Lee Perry walked in, and I insisted he take the photo. (Thought it would be more memorable!)

What a great experience for a fanatical RU basketball fan! (Even if that is redundant!)

Go RU!!

I beleve there is a poster on here who is a neighbor of Wenzel's, in Ponta Vedra Beach, FL.

Actually they were referred to as both Bobsicles and Wenzicles. Even Clark Kellogg, during the broadcast of the unforgettable Penn State A10 championship game as the crowd is going nuts said, "Call them Bobsicles, call them Wenzicles, I call this place insane!"

Clark Kellogg did not know what the eff he was talking about regarding Bobsicles.

Ummm...

Fascinating Wenzel convo but...

Email me if interested! Distribution starts tomorrow!

UPDATE:

Due to a shipping delay, the buttons WILL NOT be available this evening.

Everyone that pre ordered should have gotten an email from me today. We are hopeful for Friday, but the holiday has apparently caused this delay, completely out of our control.

We apologize for the problem...but the delay should be relatively short in duration

THANKS!
