I sense an imbalance in the (boards) force

is it just me or is the forum feel off? Just not getting a great vibe. Not much in the way of new topics. I guess it all relates to the season we are having. Anyway I hope the site picks up as it is a highlight of my day.

Go Knights!
Just as long as THE FORCE is with us.

Yes, season has not been great, but W-L not unexpected.
We all would have liked to beat PSU and WSU. I hate moral victories, but MSU was a sort of moral victory. Woo hoo.

I don't ever give up. Hoping PSU/OSU were just bad games, and RU will compete on Saturday. If it's another blowout, it is a step towards making changes. I am patient. I don't whine, and I don't like whining. I'll bide my time, while others pull out their tape measures, compasses and other instruments to measure and torture our QBs.

The loser mentality has permeated the Mets thread. Mets were 0-2 in the 1986 World Series.

I take my cue from Jimmy V-"Don't give up, don't ever give up." I can relate, with what I went through last year. I feel like I have used 2 of my 9 lives. Football and baseball fandom are a small part of my happiness.

Team performance tends to be cyclical, and it may get worse before it gets better. We are in a flat or down cycle. But we are in year 2 of a long journey of climbing out of the dumpster of college football. We poked our head out of the dumpster in 2006, and it looked nice. We will get out, and not as fast as some like, but it will happen.

Don't want to sound critical of those that complain/critique. It is the nature of the internet. I find I am a lot happier when I am not on the internet and I go outside and get some fresh air and exercise.

Go RU!!!

I blame it on Mark Hamill's character being a bad guy in the upcoming Star Wars movie. It's turned everyone toward the dark side.

I agree! Perspective: use it or lose it!

If we win on Halloween, then things will change for many people here.

It would certainly be a positive and give fans/posters hope. However, I suspect that many of us on this board would still take a neutral "wait and see" approach until after the Army and Maryland games before momentum swings one way or the other with respect to offseason movement..

The board won't be a bit more positive after a upset win?

That is hard to believe.

No ... there will be a number of posters who will decry the victory, stating that it was bad to win because that increases the chances Flood is retained.

And then suggest Wisconsin is not that good anyway, and RU only beats mediocre teams. Or that RU should have won by more, and would have if the DC was better, or a different QB played.

The only thing that matters in sports is winning.By now Rutgers fans probably have come up with every lame excuse possible for describing how the football program is performing. The inability to defeat teams with a winning record doesn't seem to be a concern to a segment of the fan base.

As psychotic as some of our posters are, I really don't think we'll see more than one or two 6-sigma outliers posting what you just said, if we beat Wisconsin. Everyone will understand what a huge victory that would be, especially on the road.

Are you suggesting you're tired of seeing threads about whether or not Rettig should be the starter or who will be the next coach even though the coach has neither been fired nor is likely to be?

Yeah, me too.

Beating a bad Army team and a mediocre at best Maryland squad changes nothing unless you think that's as good as it should ever get for RU. If we get drilled the next two weeks and then are soundly beaten by Nebraska the handwriting really ought to be on the wall.

A 2-6 conference mark should absolutely not merit year 5 of this experiment.

That is a pitiful outlook. It shows that you are totally destination, bottom line oriented. The hell with the journey. You are like a kid in the back seat continuously whining "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Try enjoying the ride, the games, the journey.

Rutgers sports are first and foremost for the benefit and education of Rutgers students. Students learn from winning AND from losing. They don't need to listen to whiney fair-weather fans. They aren't looking to make a profit. Go back to your professional sports teams.

Every one has got their panties in a bunch because we lost to OSU. Everyone loses to OSU, get over it.

No because they people who thrive on the negative will disappear until we lose again. All you have to do is look at the post differentials when we were losing vs winning against Indiana.

Sadly, I only see us winning one more game, Army. Even Maryland has the ability to beat us this year.

A 4-8 record will not save flood this year and I fully expect that he will be fired at the end of the season.

We will not be at a disadvantage to other programs that have already fired their coaches however since whomever we would be looking at for our next coach will surely be playing in a bowl game and therefore would not be available until after the season ends anyway.

Then everyone who does not like Flood should be pumped. Be happy.

Maybe.

There were well more than 2 or 3 posters hoping for a blow-out loss to OSU and for RU to lose out (this after RU came back and beat Indiana) so that Flood wold surely be fired.

Oh my gosh. Instead of telling him to go back to pro teams, why don't you go root for Kean or better yet your local Pop Warner team? You don't think winning is a top priority at this level of football?

You think Urban Meyer gets paid what he gets paid because he's a nice guy and his players go to class? You're lost.

The learning point is, if a person or a group is winning all its battles, they are not challenging themselves enough.

Look, I wrote this before but I couldn't care less who the HC is, I just want to win. I want Rutgers to win as many games as possible every single year. If Flood can allow us to win games, then lets keep Flood. If he can't beat Big Ten teams and doesn't appear that he will anytime soon, then it is time for a change. Get rid of him and hire someone who can.

Some people here are just hellbent on getting rid of Flood at all costs, even if he turns the season around, they will be upset. For them it is not about if Rutgers wins or loses but if Flood gets fired or not.

I just do not understand that train of thought. It is pretty simple if you want Rutgers to win every game it plays in, then that means you are a fan, if you EVER root for Rutgers to lose, then that means you are not a fan.

This isn't rocket surgery.

Flood has been dampening enthusiasm since day1. If we didn't move into the B1G, and were in the AAC, you would hear a din above crickets.

Enthusiasm and pride in the program is needed-whether we beat Army and MARYLAND OR NOT. Fear that is the standard and not one appropriate.
