How are our chances with Reid and Quiverly which was one of the package deals, and Lewis and Antione?

It has to start somewhere! We are not there as a program
College athletics over time becomes the difference between the haves and the have nots.Top tier recruits usually choose the haves. In a power conference its very difficult to win without some top tier players that are scoring threats. We are not there as a program
The best package would be three to four recruits who are not necessarily connected see the opportunity to play together. That could happen right here in NJ but recruiting seems to be a slow boat when some of the kids have so many options. The desire has to be there on both sides. Earl Duncan and Keith Hughes transferred to Rutgers from Syracuse because they saw an opportunity I'm not sure I recall too many others saying come with me to Rutgers and let's do this together in the basketball program.
I didn't think Gary Waters was the coach to get us over that hump? I know his success at Kent state and I didn't hate Gary, but we got to a point when the entire offense was Quincy douby. Great player but there was nobody else even close to his level. Similar to the dependence on Corey sanders but Waters kept things together much more than Eddie. Lack of free throw shooting and the program was just getting going down Hill (pun intended). Now, keep in mind that not a dime was put into the hoops program at that time so that also didn't help but we just never had enough players. The best package would be three to four recruits who are not necessarily connected see the opportunity to play together. We had this to some extent many years ago (2004) when Waters landed
Farmer, Inman & Griffin. Many on the boards at the time said: "that's it, nothing can stop us now!" Waters was our most successful coach but couldn't get us over the hump. Recruiting is still only half the battle.
Update on Brian Antoine. Still not likely, but encouraging to hear a Rutgers shout out in such a positive light from a top 5 kid!
