This is intended for the people who either still support Flood (wholeheartedly or partially), or plan to renew their tickets no matter who is our coach.

If Flood comes back, how would you describe your excitement and enthusiasm for next season?

I know how the people who want him fired feel about these questions, but how would YOU feel?

TIA

Nailed it ScarletKnight. And Rutgers seriously expects intelligent football fans to pay for this??!!

Don't care, supported school for 40 years and will continue to do so

Don't care about what?
That you expect the team to do poorly next season again with Flood?
Or don't care how bad we get?

I get it - you like attending football games. Generally that is a fun outing and day (notwithstanding the results).

My question was will you be excited for next season with Flood at the helm?

Or would you be more excited if we had a new coaching staff?
Just trying to get the mood of those that either support Flood, or those that don't care who the coach is.

Thanks.

So you couldn't care less if the program is successful or not? You don't care who wins or loses? You don't care that an unsuccessful football program will take money away from other sports due to lack of funds? You don't care that the most visual symbol of the universally is an national embarrassment as it because a doormat?

If all of the above is true, then you may want to rethink calling yourself a fan.

I will be excited for the season like I am for every season.
I will be confident that the team will be improved over the 15 season, although it will not necessarily show up in the record. And like this season, I do not expect a great year. We still havent had a long enough time in the B1G to have that factor fully affect our recruiting. Would only expect this to start to show in 2017, then increase year by year after that.
The secondary will still be very young and inexperienced as college levels go, however at least the true frosh and RS frosh will have had a year experience and physical maturity over this year. Our QB will have a full year under his belt and should avoid some of his rookie year mistakes. Our D Line will be improved with the return of D Hamilton.

When we entered the B1G i though we were going to have some very rough years at the start. And expected to not be fully competitive for quite a while (5 yrs or more) I knew it would get ugly. Was pleasantly surprised last year with our record, but that was helped with the down years of Michigan and the fact that we had a pretty experienced senior dominated team ( however we were hurt by with an inexperienced secondary) This was fgreat , but raised expectations too high, knowing that the next year our Offense woudl revert back to an inexperienced group.

My expectations are that teh fans need to be more patient. This isnt going to happen overnight, or in 5 years. Going to be a long while to where we are competing with the top levels, if ever at all. Too much going against us right now. Will take successes in small doses.

I think you got your answer. Those happy to have Flood as coach do not care about wins, going to games is simply a fun experience for them. They've seen plenty of RU losses over the years and expect little of the team.

Sadly, there are probably an awful lot of RU fans that feel this way. It will make for a bad first decade in the Big Ten IMO.

I will say it a little differently. I support the players who chose to play for Rutgers. They care, I care. Will always root for them.

Rutgers? No, Do not support Barchi and his leadership.

People like you are actually hurting the program by supporting incompetence. I'm sure a lot of Penn state Syracuse and BC fans all "support" flood as our HC too.
au contraire,,people like YOU...who dont understand YOUR opinion means nothing...hurt the program.

YOU dont have a say in when Flood is let go...nor do I. Your constant blathering achieves NOTHING dimbulb

I will support whoever is chosen.....because i am a fan

I was excited to watch RU football under Jack Bateman, Frank Burns, Dick Anderson, Doug Graber, Terry Shea, Greg Schiano and now Flood. I don't care if Julie is coaching the team next season, I'll be there and I'll be excited.

I know, I'm crazy.

Again with the dramatic threads. We'll know soon enough. And if a change is made, I'll root for that guy or gal as well. Sign me up. Again.

Only thing exciting about next year is (at seasons end) Flood will finally be fired

Funny that you would think that the 2017 recruiting would suddenly get a bump because of the B1G factor. I would expect that 2017 will be considerably worse than 2012, perhaps our best recruiting year. Recruits already have a negative impression of the program because of the blowout losses, and they will also know that Flood will be on the hot seat in 2016. slyker, you refuse to recognize this, but we are now on a cycle where we're replacing graduating players with less talented newcomers. While I think there is talent in the 2016 commits, let's see how many actually sign LOIs in February, and remember that they will take time to develop. While WRs Wright and Mack have potential, we are not going to have anyone close to Carroo next year.

LOL if my opinion means nothing then how am I hurting the program? Not making a lot of sense there bud.

Let me put it in terms you'll understand. Say there are 50,000 people just like me who support Rutgers if they aren't being incompetent and don't support them when they are being incompetent. When barchi and Julie come together to make any athletic decision they will have to do so with the thought in mind that they have to keep investing money into the program or they risk losing us 50k. barchi to Julie: "hey Julie maybe we should spend the money to buy a great head coach because we risk even more than that by keeping this guy and losing the support of 50k"

Then say there are 50,000 people like you who will show up no matter what. Guess what happens in your scenario. Barchi to Julie: "hey Julie you can keep this flood guy for however long you want in fact get us a coach that we can pay 40k a year because even if we go 0-12 we'll still have 50k supporters no matter what so no need to invest any more money"

So mr.truefan guess which one of those mentalities helps the program?(especially under this adminstration)

So now anyone who chooses to support the team is hurting the program??
If you blindly support something regardless of what actions are or arent being taken then yes you are in fact hurting whatever it is your supporting. Its like supporting your country no matter what corrupt dictator is in charge. You are actually hurting your country because you are not standing up for a change that will be for the benefit of the country and you're just supporting for supporting sake.

This is a problem with some of our fans. This guy doesn't care ! He is clueless and has no passion. So he will support barchi while he lets our program rot.

No - you are wrong. Flood excels at beating bad teams - Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, and Maryland will all be pretty bad. We will beat them all, plus NM and Howard to edgge into a bowl and ANOTHER year of Flood.

Congrats on yet another permutation of bashing the program

No, that is called blind ignorance

I'll be excited for the tailgates. I know it's early for predictions, but I see us going somewhere between 2-10 and 6-6 next year depending on how well the young players develop, injuries and how the breaks go in the games against Maryland, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota. It'll probably be another long, frustrating season.

I think it is clear at this point that the only people still supporting Flood are his relatives, the Laviano family, and a few fans so incapable of rationale thought that they will blindly support the coach until the next coach is in place no matter how bad it gets.

Iowa lost to Maryland last year and how many seniors do they have? Having Hamilton back is big and Turay needs to be better. Not thrilled with Flood but a lot of players return.

So in Year 5 of Flood you have us somewhere between another disaster at the low end and mediocre at the high end? Gee, I can't wait to sit through that.

I'm not sure why we cant look at the team and give an opinion and have it be "only" for Flood supporters. I have been a Flood supporter from day 1. I have said many times that I would have completely understood if he was fired in 2013 but he wasn't and I was sort of happy for him as I really would have loved to see him succeed. Last year, I thought he did a good job. The blowouts sucked but there were a few games that had you saying that the team just won't quit and Flood seemed to be growing into the job. coming into this season is where more of us should have been worried about onfield performance and that would have been with pretty much any coach. I just wanted to see that the team was getting better each week and that the coaching staff could come up with ways to mask the obvious holes we would have at QB, OL, TE, FB and any WR outside of Carroo. I thought the 2ndary was still young and would have some games they would struggle but some days they would play very well.
Emailgate happened. In my mind, not a huge deal at most other universities and in the past would not have been here either. Incredibly stupid how he did it though. He dropped a little in my mind as the person I know he is. Oh well, could get past that.
Arrests happen...Let's throw the Carroo deal out the window- looks like nothing was done wrong here. But the other damn fools. Looks more like they were mistakes as recruits. a couple of them never should have been in that locker room for more then their first year and then shown the door. But I know this crap does happen. I look at the other 100 kids or so and how they behave and know that it is not the U...OK- wow, we just lost our entire DB. Look back at what I pointed out what we had coming into the season. Could Flood have found a better way to control these kids? Should he have shown them the door earlier? If he had recruited better would he not have been afraid to kick them off the team? All good questions. This gives him another knock.

OK, so we start a season that is arguably the toughest schedule we have ever faced. We lose DH for the year, lose Carroo for majority of the year. OL didn't magically become the 06 OL. It has played like a group that has 3 new starters. The DL has been better then last year but no game changer. DH out, Turay hurt much of the year. LB's have done very well and DB- damn, what can you say. I feel the kids on the field have done their best. But the scheme just has done nothing to help them. QB- Who the hell cares at this point which one is playing- I don't think either could have had a good year.CL- looks like staff thinks he gives the best chance but he has struggled. Rettig(I had hoped he would be named starter) has a strong arm but I am not sure what others are seeing when they say he has come in and showed them he should be starter either??? Yeah- highly rated out of HS. Big arm...reason to see him start should be only because CL just isn't doing it and you have to try something else. I hear a lot of reasons why he may not be getting the ball though.

So- next year...If Flood is back. QB IS my concern. Dare? Rettig? Laviano? Does Russo come in and stomp them all?
What I do look forward to...the running back show. I don't mind the rotation and though many think Flood is stupid and stubborn, it looks like he really does go with the hot hand in there and it has done well for the most part. WR- hmmmm We may need a freshman(either RS or true) to become our true weapon that gets the attention of the other teams. I think we have some good ones- excited to see that. OL- here is the key- losing Keith L but have some continuity in the other spots and some of the younger guys have me looking forward to seeing them play. Give any of the QB's more time then they have this year and we should see a significant improvement. I wanna see what we have with Griffin at TE.
On the D- the DL hmmmmmm - DH is back and the younger guys who have played pretty well and supply serious beef. This is the group I am very excited to watch next year. LB- need Longa to come back- if he does- this will be a good group to watch. DB's- hmmmmm not sure yet but Austin and Hester do look to be serious players in the next few years.
I feel if Flood is back- he should make a change at DC. If we can get a WR who can get separation...then I am ok with Ben M at OC. I also feel if Flood is retained in the "right" way(doubtful, we are Rutgers) - it does hold the majority of this class together. That should not be a determining factor. It also keeps Russo. And a player like Russo can make any HC look good.
I just want Flood to either be fired in the right way or retained in the right way. And if our Admin retains him and makes a joke out of it again- I ain't even going to get mad at Flood. I'll go back to hoping he can shove it in everyones face.
But I will be very excited for the new season no matter who is coaching- I still like Flood the man, don't like him as much as a HC but woyld still love to see him succeed eventually because it would mean that Rutgers is succeeding as well. So, as long as he is coaching- I have to cheer for him and the team.

Personally I don't think Flood is the right guy for the job. But as a fan, of course I will support the team. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive

That's my prediction for 2017 with Flood as well. Some of you haven't realized yet that we've all died and we're stuck in purgatory. Maybe if we'd gone to church more we'd be in heaven rooting for Ohio State.

The threads calling out other fans for what they believe are becoming tiring. They represent perhaps the penultimate "Lazy Fan's" approach to doing the minimal while thinking they are making any kind of impact on the Coaching Situation or Rutgers Football Program at all.

Blaming the state of Rutgers Football on Joe Message Board Fan who doesn't agree with your views is very much like Democrat and Republican soccer mom's sitting on facebook all day arguing which one of them is the cause for the state of the economy.

Individual Fans / Groups of Fans should have the right to be excited or not about the teams they root for, or the Programs of the school they attended without being ostracized. At the end of the day it is a form of entertainment for people and their families and how they choose to spend their hard earned dollar.

I just cannot comprehend how some here don't understand that the main thing that will impact the program in a positive way is an infusion of cash. That cash can come from a variety of sources - up to and including Barchi allocating further subsidy / budget dollars to the Athletic department. If your desired outcome is to have a new coach / better program......complaining constantly on a message board that other fans suck for their opinions seems like a very curious way of achieving that goal.

Why are you so sure an infusion of cash will impact RU in a positive way? Plenty of schools with much bigger budgets than RU still lose.
Keeping Flood this year tells me that the RU decision makers are so inept that the infusion of B1G cash will just mean they will still make bad decisions, only more expensive ones.

That's not what I said (or at least meant). There is not guarantee of success even with extra cash. However extra revenue/cash flow is the main avenue for positively impacting a sustained winning program. Further, there is a great chance of failure with relatively no cash compared to the Programs RU is competing against.

Fans bickering on a message board about what is acceptable has little/nothing to do with the state of the program....yet some here are pointing fingers as if it does.
