If Hermann goes, who are the top candidates?

Would David Stern ever be a consideration. Considering the mess we have.or is he too old at this pt.

Whoever Schiano wants..and we need to pray its not McConnell
Agreed, it's likely whoever Schiano wants, but I would love for it to be Sean Frazier, let's right the wrong and hire the AD we should have 2 years ago.

very simple Knightshift....McConnelll was #2 for 3 athletic departments...which besides football had terrible performance and infrastructure, he is part of the problem not the solution. Plus no experience at a real school knowing how real things are done and quite frankly he also sat back in his office while Rice did his thing

OK. Did not follow him after he left RU. Know he followed Greg. I want someone with no Rutgers ties. Maybe make Sarah Baumgartner interim AD. She did good things at Missouri. Hopefully, she hangs on if Julie is gone.

Well one of the guys I mentioned last time as a candidate was the deputy AD at Texas Tech. He had experience working at Michigan and Texas prior and now was just appointed AD at Colorado State. I'd guess it's too soon for him to leave but his name is Joe Parker.

Jeff Compher the AD at ECU I came across when looking up who was the AD at NIU when they got things rolling. He's the one who got things rolling there not Sean Frazier.

When looking up what Joe Parker was doing I ran across the new Deputy AD at Texas Tech, his name is Chad Weiberg and he sounds like a prolific fundraiser. He was also just hired though so probably not likely in the same vein as Joe Parker.

Lastly another Weiberg, Kevin Weiberg former B12 commissioner. He's also worked in the B10 offices and BTN before and in athletics administration in his past. I'd think he'd be a home run hire and actual new blood and the type of executive who might be able to really clean out all the old guard.

One word -mediocrity.

Loving Rutgers is not enough to qualify one for the AD job.
Mediocrity would be the high point. I don't get this wanting to revert to the past. It's one thing if it was a time of glory and great accomplishment like say Miami or Nebraska clinging to their history. What the hell have we ever done to want to revisit anything remotely associated with our decades of mostly ineptitude. If you want a clean slate do it for real and stop looking to the past of our pathetic athletic department.

No Aranda from Wisconsin? Just kidding. You put a lot of research and thought into your posts, and I enjoy reading what you post.

actually the 3 athletic departments were all at RU....Grunninger, Mulcahy and Pernetti, tons of poor performance during those times. I do agree...need an outside hire, yet some fans are so mom and pop they want nice guys or guys who already here
'
and we cant just assume GS names the AD if he comes here...this process is going to be scrutinized, they wont get away without a proper search

I would not rule out Al Golden as head football coach, and Golden having a hand in the process. He is tailor made for this job. And let's put W-L aside, because we know Barchi does not care about that.

Of they guys mentioned the ECU guy might be most compelling. Can't believe we might be looking for an AD again. When do we get to just enjoy the actual athletic competitions and presumably some success along the way? We should be celebrating what the womens soccer team did yesterday but within the same 24 hours more drama.

Thanks, I wish others did. All snark and crap that add nothing to a conversation and just get old and tiring. I don't care what opinion anyone has as long as you can back up your point and can debate counter points. Most of the time I don't see it and mostly just no response when a counter point is brought up and then back to the usual snark and crap disregarding and forgetting any counterpoints. These days I find myself thinking WTF are you doing wasting time repeating stuff over and over and looking up things no one ever pays attention to or disregards no matter how many times you repeat it. This has to be a fun place for discussion but it's becoming less and less that for me. It's a message board and I always say don't take it seriously but at the same time it has to fun otherwise what the hell am I doing, lol

I would not go so far as to say that Barchi does not care about winning. Other things equal, I am sure he would rather win than lose. It's just that up to now, he has been unwilling to do what it takes to win. Or to put it another way, no one has been able to convince him to do what it takes to win. Maybe the new AD, if there is one, can.

Schiano is just another reach into the past and for what mediocrity in a BE where we were the top 1/2 usually top 2-3 in the conference recruiting and had more resources than most of our competitors. He never beat the better coaches in the league like Kelly and RichRod or won the conference. We'd be going from the top 1/2 to the bottom third and no matter how good you think he recruits it's not going to outdo the top competitors in our conference. Don't look at things in a vacuum or compare to our previous selves, that's not the comparison to make. Being better than Flood isn't the metric to be using either. Who might get us to compete and win against our conference competitors is the metric to think about it.

This is what I mean when I say I don't assume that people change. You have to really see it to believe it. You see it on this board, it's human nature. They reach for what's familiar and comfortable even if it doesn't make sense. Stop being scared, if we fail we fail, then what we try again.

If you want a clean slate do it for real with new fresh faces and fresh blood across the board, not just stuff for show and a reversion back to our past.

Wasn't Julie also a #2?

Yes at a very successful athletic department not at a poorly performing one. There's a difference and she was there for the whole rebuild. She was hired just a year after Jurich took over.

Would love to have Bob Mulcahy back. Student athletes loved him, knows the system, always a homer, has plenty of experience and legitimately has players and RU's best interest at heart. He is one of big reasons we are B1G.
