If Signed, Ray Rice Would Donate All Of Salary

Only if he has income to write it off against, or carry it over.
Wish the best for Ray. He's paid a heavy price and believe he deserves a second chance.

I hope he gets a second chance, but his ship has probably sailed
I think you're right about that and don't know if the CFL would be an option if Rice wanted to use that league to prove he still can play.

Hope he gets a shot , I'm sure even with a full year salary donated, he would still increase his pension #when he starts getting that
A very nice gesture, I hope the Eagles get him

I'm all for giving him another chance, but this would have made more of an impression if he had made the offer a year or two ago. At this point, it just sounds a bit desperate.

Love RR but his stats were dropping before the incident. He wont get another shot as he has hit the shelf life of an NFL RB. I was hoping Jets signed him as a backup..... He is young and rich so life not all that bad.

Well seeing as they let that degenerate Lewis get away with murder and play. I do not see why they can not give RR a chance

He hasn't played in 2 years. He's well past his prime. While it's a nice gesture it won't sway anyone. I don't see him ever playing in the league again.

The two year lay off is the killer. Folks who talk about his drop in production his last year have no clue how bad the Ravens OL was. Barry Sanders couldn't have run behind that line.

I really wish he'd get another chance. But it just doesn't seem likely at this point. RBs are so dime-a-dozen now that any club would rather take the chance on a 22 year old and not a 29 year old with his history. Which sucks. Maybe he could go make some noise in the CFL and then parlay that into something.

I wonder if it would have been a good idea to play in Canada last year to show what he has left in the tank.

Maybe if given the chance he'll post number like Barry Bonds or Big Papi...sans the enhancements.

We won't know unless he's given another chance.

Tim Hightower was out of football for 3 seasons and came back last year. He was in the same draft as Rice, is a year older, and hasn't been any good since 2010. You're telling me no one would take a chance if not for the PR nightmare? I'm convinced that Goodell's mishandling of Rice's suspension is the main reason he will never get another chance. The league just doesn't want to rehash the whole saga. I think he's been blackballed.

It will be interesting to see how the league handles the Zeke Elliott situation.

I did not mean to insinuate the layoff was the only reason, only that it's now an additional factor. The video + age + layoff = no interest

So Ray's knockout punch on video in the elevator had nothing to do with his suspension ? It was all about Goodell's mishandling of the matter that has made him persona non grata in the NFL ?

The main reason why he hasn't gotten another chance is because he made public the texts between him and the Raven's owner. Maybe if he still had an elite skillset at a position that actually mattered a team would give him a shot, but I'm afraid Ray's chances of ever playing again in the NFL are grim.

Yeah, that's what I said.

Greg Hardy got another chance. He stunk last year. He's going to get another chance. Despite your dopey interpretation of what I said, I'll stick to my opinion that the NFL's mishandling of the initial punishment, and the ensuing shitstorm, are big factors in Ray being blackballed. They want him to just go away.

I agree, I see it as a sign of desperation and that does not play well with anyone.

Silliness. This is his livelihood. He's younger than about 25 current NFL running backs. The fact is, everyone here saying he's past his prime is talking out of his ass, because he hasn't even been given a tryout. He's blackballed.

Were Plaxico Burress and Mike Vick "desperate"? Plax was 33 and spent two years in jail coming off a terrible season and got another shot. The difference? Many felt Burress was unfairly punished. Many feel Rice hasn't been punished enough.

The video had a lot to do with, and the main reason for Ray not having a shot at getting back to the NFL, but Goodell probably is letting it be known he won't be pleased if someone gives him a chance.

Still can't believe the perception is Rays stats, and skills were "waning" the year before...it's widely known that the Ravens offense, much like Mara proclaimed the Giants' offense the other year, was BROKEN. They had a complete overhaul, new coaches across the board on offense as well as rebuilding the O line.

The guy still had it, I believe would've been a candidate for comeback player of the year had he played in '14.

As for now? I'm not sure what he has left in the tank I mean it's been 2 years. I hope he gets his shot though bc at this point he ABSOLUTELY deserves it!

Again his backup went from 4.9 a carry to 2.9. That tells me the offensive line of the Ravens was horrific.

Rice should have gone to the Canadian football league last year like another poster mentioned. He wasn't getting any calls from the NFL, so he should have went there. If he lit it up(which I'm sure he would have) an NFL team would have come calling this year. Blackballing(which I believe in this case) or not, these owners want to win, they would have told Goodell to screw off we'll take the publicity hit. Now no one's going to give him a shot and take the publicity hit, just on a whim. He needed to prove himself again, then teams would have come calling.

But yet Greg Hardy is getting another tryout in Jacksonville.

Maybe he should've gone to Canada and played up there. But I am probably wrong and talking out my ass when I ask this. But is there any type of relationship or deal between the NFL and CFL that may have prevented the Canadian teams to look at Rice? If he still has something left in the tank, then Canada is a very good option for him to go to either show the NFL or play out his career. But thats never been publicly explored.

Like I said, WHO KNOWS??? But this should show the young kids that those 5 seconds in the elevator can change the life of anyone who was pretty much a good guy with no problems.

It has always been about the video. Why would Rice, a poster boy for being a good citizen in the NFL prior to that video,.. why would Rice have gotten the worst punishment ever for domestic violence by the NFL if there were no video? Even with the video he was eligible and got pre-trial intervention/probation. Without the video Ray Rice gets a stiff fine and plays that same season and is still playing.

Without that video, Ray Rice is a minor blip in the long line of NFLers accused of domestic violence.. if public pressure were to cause the NFL to make an example of someone, it would not have been Ray Rice, who was doing everything else right.

I still maintain that this was mostly about alcohol abuse and I wish Ray Rice had given up the stuff completely.

I had RR his last year in Fantasy Football and he was not good - think he was about shot before the Casino incident...PacMan Jones shot up a Go Go Bar in Vegas and paralyzed a dude - still in the league and of course Ray Lewis killed a dude and went on to play another 10 years.

I don't think he can play anymore...just saying,,,they seem to find a place in league for guys who can still play regardless of their crimes.

He needs to figure out what his post FB career is. Go back to school and maybe grad school. Stop living in the past and move on.
