If we go winless the rest of the season, and the games are not close…

Is there any chance Gregg would be on the chopping block, or, more likely, when the new president and A.D. come in, given an ultimatum to start winning or else?

Yes, I know his buyout is massive, and they just signed up to an extension, but that would be taking a significant step back from the last few seasons and specifically, last year

Yes, I know we have an exceptional recruiting class coming in (as of now) and I’m hoping that he can keep it together, but that would be especially challenging if this situation were to happen

He's not going anywhere regardless of his record. As others have said no AD and lame duck president. But there needs to be a major shake up on his staff on both sides of the ball, especially the offense. Wouldn't mind seeing everyone on thst side of the ball go outside of Flats.

As others have said, no way — not with a lame duck President and interim AD.

And I need to pick a nit — it’s Greg, not Gregg.

Why would there need to be a shakeup ? For the exact reasons he’s safe and will be for years, he’s got no pressure to win or make any changes. He’s on easy street. Due another $35 mil just for breathing.

Unfortunately not.
He goes 4-8 again next season give him his walking papers.

Pat will go down as a mediocre AD at BEST

You can’t give ultimatums when we lack the resources to win, namely a Fieldhouse and NIL support. He’ll be here a while no matter what happens this year, next year, and the year after.

Sure you can Hercules Al of Lilliputia. Coaches get fired for sucking, pathetic excuses are not part of the analysis. Winning brings in money. It’s on him.

injuries aren’t excuses. They’re legitimate explanations, and he is still building the roster, despite limited resources.

The roster building requires money.
We’d be Iowa or Wisconsin under GS without the advent of NIL
Since we don't have much money, we’re building the roster mostly the old fashioned way, with HS recruiting and a small amount of transfers.

Pathetic, bud. You and other apologists will never accept the simple fact that the guy can’t compete. Take a look at the combined conference records of the B10 the last few years, and then embarrass yourself even more by making the same lame excuses for the buffoon.

You can’t compete without talent. We are slowly but surely building the talent base. We went bowling last year. This year we are bringing in a recruiting class which will go a long way towards fixing our current talent issues, going forward.

Cute how you ignore the key fact Ms. Keller-Schiano....don't be blind. look at the last two years and see where RU falls in the conference records (excluding the new 4 teams).

Talent is Greg's fault. There were plenty of 2nd tier portal QBs he could have brought in but he instead brought in the guy just two spots higher than your fantasy boyfriend who fit his run until losing big philosophy. What was AK last year ? #113 ?

Of course talent and depth is an issue. His fault.

conference records don’t matter while we are building the program. Talent issues will be resolved by the incoming class and that’s what matters most. We know the issues and fixes are on the way.

As for qb, We brought in a guy that had a relationship with our OC, and was appropriate to our purse. He has performed to expectations and has an opportunity to excel these last four games.

Weak Adonis Baghdad Al, even for you. It's his 5th year. Conference records matter. Since you won't dare look, his is second worst (tie), just one win ahead of Purdue so far. He's building what ? Building on his own failures.

Keeping him is dumping gasoline on a fire he started...yes, after a few years he owns the fire now.

So this year's team has no talent?

Old news
Mike will get it fixed, and fixed soon
The buyout money is there if he doesn't

The standard doesn't change in Tallahassee
My frustrations with Rutgers stem from the fact that our potential is out the ass, yet we continually accept mediocrity

The expectation in Piscataway should be championships - Greg has stated that multiple times
And like I've said multiple times, either NIL $$ is raised (likely through corporations), or get used to Pinstripe / Quick Lane / Who gives a Shit bowls for the foreseeable future

So Jay, where is all this supposed money coming from? You stated before that the money was already for them to buy their way out of the conference.
Now another ridiculous amount has been pooled to buy out 8 remaining years of a 10 year contract Mike signed a few months ago if they suck again next year.

The recruiting class has tanked, the vultures are at the door for the last kid remaining. If you don’t have an incoming freshmen class that means you’re shopping for bodies. That’s even more money, because I doubt that Mike will shop at Walmart knowing his job is on the line.

Does FSU have a print shop on campus? Or just some really stupid people who enjoy throwing money away ?
From a distance it’s funny 😆

Boosters write the checks re. Buyouts

The 120 mil is there for the exit fee
Ic that’s all it would take, we’d be out tomorrow

Mikes been told he has 2 years to fix it
If there’s not marked improvement sooner, they’ll pull the plug, as the money is there

Re. Recruiting/portal, that’s Battles End
Largely funded by 1 guy (some say 2 guys), in addition to fans (mostly boosters)

CEO Ingram Smith has gone on record as saying “ we can be as competitive as we need to be in that space.”

You say they’re stupid people, but successful people don’t stay successful by continually throwing money at stupid things

I expect mike to change up his recruiting and throw more money at he kids / less in portal

If he’s going to survive this, he needs to evolve - can’t live in the portal, recruiting needs to be the lifeline of any continually successful program

Smart people don’t throw away millions of dollars and get no personal ROI. Is my point, Mr Smith obviously is good at business or he wouldn’t have all the money. I don’t see this as business, this is more of a swinging dick. You know, look at mine personal enjoyment.

This thread.. why?

Why discuss this dire scenario now? I know it is a discussion board.. but.. come on now.

You have no idea if they’re getting anything out of it, or what the financial situations are

They could be getting kickbacks god construction projects (FOF), campus construction, etc (one that I know of has a situation like that)

Or they could be so wealthy, that to them, it’s equivalent to **** you money

Or, they could simply just love the University and are avid football fans, wanting to see a consistent winner and knowing it takes money to achieve that

ROI is also a relative term
If you have **** you money and love football, your ROI = seeing them win

Different strokes for different folks

Bc it’s a message board, talking about a school we all love, and a program with massive potential that in year five of GS 2.0, is not living up to expectations
