....then it's incredibly great for RU that PSU won tonight....because him delaying the hot seat can only mean more of a chance for RU to close the gap.

true.

maybe this is to Franklin what the 2013 USF game was to Flood...

Either way we need to recruit better across the board to make some noise in the big ten. Without that, nothing really changes.

Lol I'd say more like the Louisville 2006 game was to Schiano. It was a signature win for him no doubt. However, there is a "Cincinnati" lurking somewhere on that schedule. I will bet on it.

It was his signature win and should end the hot seat talk.
I argued that he was on it because he can't beat the better programs and now my argument isn't valid any more as far as I'm concerned.
Penn St plays Purdue ,Iowa , Indiana Rutgers and Mich St
and has a good chance to end 10-2 because their game against the Hawkeyes is at Beaver Stadium , Michigan St isn't very good this year and Purdue, Indiana and Rutgers aren't highly though of.
Don't like Penn St but have to admit their season might end with them in the top 25
and Franklin job security looking great.

Actually he did an excellent job at Vanderbilt and in my opinion tonights victory just sent a message to the B10 powerhouses that PSU just took their first step towards amother National Championship. Which I believe they technically have 2. Many including me felt they were ripped off in 1994 when Nebraska was anointed NC without ever playing the other best team in the country. Thank God for the play off games. .

Lol. It's one game. Maybe when he figures out how to beat Pitt you can talk NC.

PSU beating OSU doesn't make Franklin's Vandy years great .
He did a good job with a bad program but built his resume there beating bottom feeders.

True, but so what. He uplifted a program that plays in one of the toughest conferences in the country.

Well the one good thing about tonight is that you have outed yourself as a PSU troll. Explains why you are a shill for Kyle Flood. Now I can completely ignore your posts.
And you have proven that hating another teams success will never make you a winner. Instead it will pigeon hole you in a world of mediocrity and decades of disappointment.

Not really. He did improve Vandy, but they would get bowl eligible by winning TWO SEC games out of eight and four OOC cupcakes. Good for Vandy, but not all that great.

Ivan are you kidding me with that post? Your talking about true student athletes at Vandy playing against 1 dimensional NFL bound phenoms. Also, how many years was he at Vandy, 3 maybe 4? All I'm saying that beating the number 2 team in the country that is loaded with a host of NFL talent sent a message to the NCAA, the B10 conference and college football fans that PSU is back.

I guess we don't need to debate this anymore?

I really don't give a rats ass about Penn State. Just don't like people pretending to be RU supporters on here and spewing negative drivel then gloating when their true team wins. Those people are known as "trolls". Go celebtate over on BWI.

Listen Boogie I have nothing against you, I actually enjoy your posts. I've been a Rutgers fan for a long time. But I must confess I would root for PSU as well, so what, does that make me troll? Cmon man . I loved when they beat a favored Georgia team, I enjoyed watching them beat Miami and I was utterly ashamed of the program when the Sandusky fiasco went down. At the end of the day these kids and coaches have nothing to do that tragedy. Sure I'm happy for them it doesn't mean I'm not going to root for Rutgers to shut them down in two or three weeks. One last thing, if we want to beat teams like OSU, PSU and Michigan the administration needs to invest money, instead of trying to compete on a shoe string budget.

Good for you. Celebrate on BWI.

I said it a few days ago on here and stand by it. I couldn't care less about what Franklin did at Vandy. That's ancient history at this point. Just got back from the game. Huge win.

Hahahahahahaha. I love that this is the top post when I come here tonight. You guys always deliver. It's uncanny.

Question is what prompted you to come here tonight? I know you post here regularly but you had some intention to gloat I assume.

I think if you'll go through my history here, I don't do much gloating. I came here because I got back from the stadium after some awful traffic and wanted to check in. Just got a laugh at PSU being the main topic of discussion on a day when you guys had an intense game yourselves. I wasn't surprised, necessarily, but I couldnt help but chuckle.

First, if Franklin is a bad coach and it will result in Rutgers closing the gap it would be more akin to wins in Terry Shea's 6-5 Big East Coach of The Year season. that said:

1) I haven't followed Franklin's career but if he did ANYTHING with Vandy, that's tough. Kind of akin of what Schiano did for RU though with Vandy you're talking about a school that's very highly academically rated and likely a really nice campus (if so they SHOULD to well ceteris paribus).

2) Says what you want about Penn State (I will). THEY BEAT OHIO STATE TONIGHT. Maybe Ohio State was flat, unexpectedly cold, yada but Penn State won and rebuilding RU lost 68-0.

The above said, the "continuing" sex scandals there (though in the past) damage the school's rep in my opinion (they haven't recruited NJ all that well recently but are doing fine nevertheless). *****I OR NOBODY ELSE HAS EVEN MENTIONED THE "NEWLY PUBLICIZED" SEX SCANDAL from the movie that just came out about blacks fighting for the US (critically liked but a box office bust from what I heard). In that case a while back the director and another former PSU wrestler raped a women who faced a lot of BS (happens at other schools) and eventually committed suicide. ***Not so sure it was related but the director "got off" and was freed from jail after serving some time,

In my opinion, Penn State has badly damaged its rep for a long time. Tonight was a first statement and possible momentum changer for their program-at least for the FB program. Obviously now they are closer to Ohio State and Michigan than an RU. However RU played well today so a home win isn't totally out of the question (and a fairly nice class with some 4-5 star players coming in).

Penn State had the class to recruit me out of RU for grad school but I'm happy to say I'm glad I turned down for UNC (a sports scandal that only involves FB and BB is bad enough-but its wasn't regular students-and I can name incidents at Penn State, RU, yada re sports). A same sex scandal- with kids I couldn't handle as an alum. Penn State and JoePA have lost almost all of its luster for me since and I've lost a lot of respect for Dick Anderson.
To a lesser extent ditto Michigan State and the ongoing scandal with US Olympic gymnists/ hopefuls.

Yes, there should have been co-champions that year. Especially, since three years later the same thing happens and they split it between Michigan and Nebraska.

The playoff format is not the exact one that I wanted, but after seeing it in action for a few years I think it works great.

OMG ASH please stop pointing the finger at other school's indiscretions. You can't condemn an entire teaching institution because of some isolated incidents. Allow the judicial system to address the things you mention in your email. I say focus on the mess you have here in New Brunswick where Rutgers University is located. You have Aggravated Assaults, Rapes, Drug Rings and Prostitution one or two blocks off campus. Seriously, take the time to go look at the police blotters at the NBPD and RU Police Department. We have some of the most Violent FELONY CRIMES on Hamilton Street, Jersey Avenue, Remson Avenue, Commercial Avenue and yes Armed Robberies as early as 9pm on Easton Avenue.

Its actually not funny to us. Please understand when we watch the 2nd half of that game and PSU seems dead, announcers are talking about how the crowd is deflated and then you get two monster plays to put you back in the game. A 37 yard run by Barkley, and a 35 yard catch by Blacknall. McSorely then runs it in from the 2 and you are back in the game. When you guys needed to change the momentum, 2 former Rutgers commits came up big vs the #2 team in the country. The other names that you heard most often other than those 2 and McSorely were Gesicki and Bowen, they were never RU commits, but those guys are from NJ and can play.

There are two conflicting feelings I get when I watch this. First, its I wish that they were doing that for us right now. But second, and more importantly, its that if we get those types of players, we can get there in year three of Ash.

Funny because near the top of the BWI board I found a "I hope Rutgers loses every big ten game" thread. On the night/morning after PSU's biggest win in 11 years.

Great win for PSU and Franklin. We need to worry about our team more than trying to assess the status of others. The short term opportunity for us to gain ground was right after the sanctions were put in place and we just couldn't do it. They will remain a worthy adversary and if we want a true rivalry we better figure out how to beat them.

How does him staying help Rutgers? He may suck as a game day coach but he still steals NJ players we can't keep at home.

Give credit to franklin . That's a huge win for that coaching staff and program .
Rutgers had never had as big of a win as that .

he just beat Ohio State and this will pay huge dividends in recruiting. Rutgers fans are funny

Penn State typically has a pretty good hit rate on recruits that attend WhiteOut games. A come-from-behind win against Urban Meyer and the no. 2 team in the country can only help even more. Hard to say "no" to that atmosphere for a lot of kids.

They've been recruiting well already. It was one game. Great win for them but it doesn't automatically make them a Top 5 team. They too were non competitive vs Michigan. They are not winning the Big Ten.

Yup, that's one thing you Penn State fans are consistent with, forgetting ancient history,LMAO.

If that Pitt Panthers team played the Nittany Lions last night they would have gotten mauled.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. They lost to Pitt at home. They beat OSU at home. Congrats to them on their big win.
